Test Flight!

the luceti test flight meme

Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[Behind him, on a nearby branch, Kushina pipes up;]

What's so funny?

[ So Kakashi's just giggling away like he always does when he's reading a particularly lurid passage-- ]

[ You see, there are some lines that Kakashi just should not cross. Being a complete, unabashed pervert in front of his sensei's wife is just one of those lines. Kakashi quickly snaps his book shut and squirrels it away into his utility pouch. ]

A-ah, Kushina-san. I didn't see you there...
fervidity: DO NOT TAKE ICON!!! (happy→ second man to like my hair)

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-21 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Kushina's solid image of a quiet boy (man now, geez)) that does not read porn in the open is being threatened too. She narrows her eyes at the book he's tucked away before jumping to the branch he's lounging on and takes her own spot, legs hanging over the side.]

I can be sneaky when I want to.

[She grins a bit at him over her shoulder and then glances at his pouch pointedly.]

What are you reading?
ura_no_ura: (ahh~)

Kakashi is always using these icons with Kushina, I swear rofl

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-21 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kakashi shifts, sitting up from the slouch he'd more or less relaxed into, so he's not being rude around Kushina. Who probably wouldn't particularly like the idea of him reading porn, so he mostly just chuckles low, trying to be dismissive of the subject. ]

Oh, you know, just some book. How are you, Kushina-san?

[ Yes, change the topic. That is an excellent idea. ]
fervidity: DO NOT TAKE ICON!!! (happy→ red + yellow = ...)

bahahahaha

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-21 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Probably not, and even if she was around him growing up (being the wife of his sensei) she can't stop the inevitable. Kakashi is a boy and boys like perverted things.

Naruto didn't get his stubbornness from his dad but she does answer the question. Her shoulders shrug listlessly.]

Bored, I was looking for someone to talk to. Why don't you share what you're reading? Is it a thriller?

[Probably not the kind of THRILL she's expecting...]
ura_no_ura: (arc)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-21 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ No, it most certainly isn't the kind of thrill she might think he'd read. If anything, what he has hidden between those brightly colored covers might make her smack him right off the tree. Even if it was written by Jiraiya-sama. ]

Oh, it's just a boring old book. You probably wouldn't like it very much. How's Sensei? I haven't seen the two of you that much lately.

[ Yes, keep the conversation off-topic. This is a good strategy. ]
fervidity: DO NOT TAKE ICON!!! (happy→ fishcake is a beautiful name)

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-23 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Maybe a very disapproving frown and glower that little Kakashi reads those perverted books.

For now she folds her arms and shifts to face him.]

He's probably off reading too, researching about this place and figuring out how it works. [Like he does with EVERYTHING. After a moment, she smiles again.] He found me a few cookbooks though at the library. They have some interesting stuff in there.

I didn't know you liked to read, Kakashi.
ura_no_ura: (笑う)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-26 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, well, you know, it's just one of those hobbies I picked up over the years... You couldn't expect me to have stayed that impossibly boring after all this time, could you?

[ Kakashi keeps his tone light and easy. No need to really dig further under the covers than what can be easily seen, after all. ]

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-26 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Always look underneath the underneath.

She leans against one knee, chin propped up on a hand.]

You were never boring, just a handful. Sure did teach Minato a thing or two about kids even if he was the sensei.

[Would have been nice to put that experience to the test with Naruto. She reaches forward to ruffle his light hair good-naturedly with a grin, as if he's still thirteen and she's come to stop training so Minato can come home already it's past dinner time.]

Do you like Jiraiya-sensei's books as much as he does? [Her eyes trail to the side slowly as she asks this.]
ura_no_ura: (gentle look)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-26 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Kakashi's expression softens, his head slightly ducked from the hair-rub that he'd instinctively bowed his head for. Even after all these years, Kushina-san's hand on his head still provokes the same response, it seems. ]

I'd like to think I do.

[ Like Jiraiya-sama's books as much as Minato-sensei. After all, his knowledge of his sensei's fondness for Jiraiya-sama's works were the reason why Kakashi started reading them in the first place. As though reading them could somehow replace the immense hole in his life that Minato left behind. Or at least, bridge the gap a little.

He's rather sure, though, that he was far more than just a handful, and Kushina is just being kind. She and Minato practically helped to raise him after his father died. They were, after all, the closest thing to family he had left when he had no one else. ]

I can see why Sensei liked Jiraiya-sama's books so much... After all, at the root of every book is a story about courage and love.

[ ...in pornographic form, though Kakashi can leave that part out. ]

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-27 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles, though her gaze remains focused on the distance.]

I'm pretty sure he just read them because Jiraiya-sensei wrote them.

[At first. She had to admit though that 'The Gutsy Ninja' was a pretty good read when she was pregnant and couldn't do much else but menial chores and resting.

Finally, she turns to face him again and manages to look curious through her teasing.]

Is that what you're reading?
ura_no_ura: (gentle smile)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-27 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ ...well, there's no use hiding it now. Kakashi's eye curls into a smile and he nods. ]

Mm, it's one of his later works...

[ It appears Kushina seems to be actually okay with Jiraiya-sama's works. Perhaps she doesn't really know their contents, or maybe she just doesn't take them very seriously. Either way, Kakashi's glad she isn't berating him for reading dirty books. ]

[Only one work in particular because she named her son after the main character but MINATO'S COVERED THAT good man

But if she knew.....]

So he kept writing? I guess Minato pushed him enough to keep doing it.

Is it any good?

['The Gutsy Ninja' was pretty good considering it was written by a super pervert. She had thought she would be reading some erotic porn novels about girls he peeped on.]
ura_no_ura: (あぁん・・・。)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-28 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kakashi's not sure if Kushina's actually... read any of Jiraiya's books. Or if she even knows what they're about. Playing it safe with vague answers is probably the best way to deal with this. ]

I think it's excellent. But... I'm told Jiraiya-sama's writing is a bit of an... acquired taste, I suppose you can say. Not everyone would enjoy it.

[ And that's putting it lightly. ]

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-28 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Minato's student, through and through.]

Yeah, but that's true for anyone who's ever written anything. There's probably not a book out there that everyone loves because people like different things.

I'd probably like it if it was a horror novel though. Those are pretty good.
ura_no_ura: (is that so?)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-28 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know you liked horror, Kushina-san...

[ Come to think of it, Kakashi doesn't know very much about Kushina's interests or much about her at all. Kushina had always been the steady rock by Minato's side throughout the years, almost a surrogate mother figure of sorts when Kakashi was still young and had no one left. She cooked for him, smacked him upside the head when he was getting out of line, teased him, gave him hugs he pretended not to like, and tried to make him laugh when he had so little to laugh about.

And she was there that night with Minato when the rain fell along with his father on the living room floor.

Kakashi still remembers the warmth of her embrace and her hands that did not shake as she put him into a bath to wash off all that blood.

Though Kushina had been there for so many years, he never had the chance to really get to know her. But then, he was just child. ]

What else do you like?
fervidity: DO NOT TAKE ICON!!! (blush→ that's right i'm your-)

[personal profile] fervidity 2013-06-28 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
It's interesting. They're the only books I'll read through other than cookbooks.

[She shrugs like it isn't really a big deal.

Being put under the spotlight makes her uncomfortable and her smile turns uncertain. It's Kakashi though so there's no reason for her to feel like he's trying to pry into her personal life. It's a simple question. And she likes him too much and knows him too well and still remembers petulant stares and huffy blushes when she hugged him not to humor his curiosity.

So she folds her legs on the branch and thinks for a moment and blurts the first thing that comes to mind.]

... I like ramen.
ura_no_ura: (笑っているぜ。)

[personal profile] ura_no_ura 2013-06-28 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kakashi can't help but chuckle lightly at that, eye scrunching up with mirth. Leave it to Kushina to just say the obvious. Kakashi most certainly remembers Kushina's fondness for ramen, though. After all, it was something they did eat quite a bit of when he came over for dinner. ]

You know, until I met Naruto, I didn't think it was possible that anyone could actually rival your ability to eat ramen... But I think he might even be able to out-eat you.
