notyourutopian: (Distant and considering)

A:

Eleanor was sitting by the fountain in the center of town, in a white blouse and black skirt, her legs folded beneath her and her fancy magic notebook resting on the ground beside her. On the other side is a mostly-flat steampunk-esque diving suit, made mostly of heavy fabric and leather, with a metal framework including an oxygen tank and neck brace sitting on top of it. Eleanor has the helmet part in her lap, flipped over, and her attempt appears to be focused inside it, where she is tinkering with the internal radio with a screwdriver she found.

she glances over at her notebook, keeping tabs of what is going on, but otherwise was content to work on whatever she was working on. 'Content' apparently meant cursing at the little device from time to time, her wings fluttering behind her in irritation.

B:

It was around dusk when she could be found in the edge of town, in a clearing she hoped was out of the way. Dressed much the same as earlier, her things are folded neatly nearby as her attention focuses mostly on a dead tree that someone was probably bound to cut down eventually. She had been here for a few days, and she couldn't quite seem to get a handle on precisely how her arrival had altered her powers.

So she was experimenting with them. She held up her hand and it burst into life, flames crackling around her fingers, filling the air with the faint smell of smoldering flesh before she launched the fireball at the dead tree. It was smaller and weaker than she was used to, and actually vanished before it even reached the bark, making her frown.

A few steps forward and she tried again, this time the fireball hit the tree, and the flames caught. She seemed satisfied, and the heat around her fingers vanished, replaced by a faint shimmer in the air. She threw her hand out again, and a wave of telekinesis smacked into the tree, knocking the air away long enough to blow the fire out.

Okay. At least that one was sort of working...
