Test Flight!

the luceti test flight meme

Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[Keele himself was staring into the horizon, his dark blue wings held tightly against his back to avoid the same problem that his neighbor was having. The sun was hot, almost too hot for him, but he could stand barefoot in the water for just a little while. His white robes were folded neatly in the sand, leaving him in his light pants and pale green tunic-- the loss of layers only helped him stay more comfortable.

Unfortunately, he couldn't help but think over all of the scientific details that he saw.]

It's impressive. Even after we account for the divergences in reality that follow the temporal distortion that brought us to this world, some things have remained the same. The sky is still blue, and the water is still cold.
linefacingforever: (Oh really...?)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-19 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Yu's wings snapped harshly in irritation, trying to shake the sand from his feathers, before taking his neighbor's lead and tucking tight against him. It helped, a little; he shook his head, trying to ignore it and instead focus on what the other man was saying.]

[...it sounded like a lot of science fiction strung together. He was okay with this.]

Why would it be any different?
worldchaindestruction: (irritated -- let me explain this again)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-19 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Unfortunately, this science fiction was fact for the scholar standing next to him. Keele looked over at the stranger, easily slipping into the pedantic role that befitted a research assistant.]

It depends on the relative balance between the Light and Shadow Craymels of the world we're speaking about. [He paused, briefly.] Although, you would know them as 'spirits' or 'magic', wouldn't you?
linefacingforever: (I'm in hillbilly hell...)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-19 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that.

[Could Persona have an influence outside of their humans? He doubted it, but then again, they had only ever even tried to summon them in the television world. Who knew what they would be capable of in the real world?]
worldchaindestruction: (neutral -- studyan)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-19 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's not a surprise. Most people around here think that way. [He sighed, a little weary of the argument already.] The words make it sound vague, unstudied, and uncontrolled. I don't think they fit what I do, personally.
linefacingforever: (Yosuke what are you doing?)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-19 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I don't understand that well. My homeworld was more or less normal.

[Just, you know... don't shake hands with any crazy gas station attendants, and you'd never know anything was weird about it. But there was one thing...]

What do you mean by Shadow?

[Singular? He wasn't used to that.]
worldchaindestruction: (thoughtful -- hmm)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-19 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think our definitions of what's normal are the same. But, you're from a world that has diverged on a path that's similar to much of the rest, right?

[He hasn't read that much on Earth's history yet. He's been more fascinated by the various forms of 'magic'.]

Shadow is one of the Greater Craymels-- summoning spirits, I think you'd call them-- between Inferia and Celestia. He's also the governing Craymel of Celestia, and the Craymels of Ice, Electricity, and Earth are under his dominion.

...

Craymelology isn't an easy subject for the layman. I can't explain many of these topics very well without teaching you some of the fundamental concepts first.

[Ohh... so Shadow was just one creature, apparently one that could be summoned. So... it was like a Persona; he could understand that.]

Actually, I think I have a better idea from that description.

[He wondered if they worked the same... probably not, but it would be interesting to know if there were other worlds out there that also had Persona-like creatures.]
worldchaindestruction: (thoughtful -- hmm)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-19 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
How is that? I thought you said that your world didn't have anything like this.

[He was genuinely curious, although his interest was mostly academic at this point. Barring another world that had access to greater spirits, which he knew a few others were, he didn't understand why the stranger would say that.]
linefacingforever: (Facing out to the truth.)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[...well, he could probably tell this guy about Personae without being judged; he was already from a place with summoned creatures after all.]

Yeah... sort of. On my world, there's another world within television screens. We're able to summon creatures in that other world.

[Well, there was more to it than that.]

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-19 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Keele stared at him, recognizing the problem with this conversation immediately.]

Now we've switched positions. I have no idea what a television is.
linefacingforever: (But this isn't my fault...)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-20 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's... something that people watch for entertainment. Not something you'd normally use to travel between worlds.
worldchaindestruction: (neutral -- studyan)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-20 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting. But, without something to pierce the barrier, how is that possible?

[Because, clearly, the ability to travel inside an entertainment device is more facinating to him than any summons.]
linefacingforever: (Yosuke what are you doing?)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-20 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's because we -- my friends and I -- were able to accept ourselves and summon our Personae.

[At least... he's pretty sure that was the reason; no one else, unless they had shaken Izanami's hand and had their Persona awakened that way, had been able to touch the televisions in Inaba and enter the TV world. It was the only common link.]

Personae are parts of our souls that we are able to call out to protect ourselves.
worldchaindestruction: (thoughtful -- hmm)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-20 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's very different from the Craymels then. They're spirits that exist in nature.

[The Greater Craymels were actually the minority. Any Craymelology student could access the Lesser Craymels, but that was all academic in nature.]

But these Personae sound quite interesting. Is it a universal skill, or is it limited to only a few people?
linefacingforever: (Facing out to the truth.)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-20 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's... fairly limited; it depends on the kind of person you are.

[Not everyone could accept themselves; Kubo couldn't, and his Shadow disappeared, never to become a Personae.]
worldchaindestruction: (neutral -- studyan)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-20 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
So it is a little like Craymeololgy in that respect. Without the need to accept yourself, of course.

[He pursed his lips in thought as he considered the explanation further.]

Handling these Personae sounds almost religious in some ways, in the sense of the religions that focus on bettering yourself and don't follow a single god.

[He'd be charged for sedition yet again if he were in Inferia for just speaking those words.]
linefacingforever: (Some quiet contemplation.)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-21 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
That would make sense; many of the Personae I've seen and used are figures from religion and mythology.

[And let us not forget the death goddess. Ever.]
worldchaindestruction: (thoughtful -- hmm)

[personal profile] worldchaindestruction 2013-06-27 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [He lifted his eyebrows. Anything that hinted at new knowledge and insight into the world immediately had his interest.]

Is there any specific pattern to the religious and mythical figures? Or are they completely incidental?
linefacingforever: (Considering all the things.)

[personal profile] linefacingforever 2013-06-29 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Yu paused to consider a moment.]

My friends and I started with Personae from… the mythology of the continent we're from. The rest of mine are from all over the world.
