( Yet that chance of returning to something else that might fit in around the edges of all that's horrible has a temptation in and of itself. Where Annie has failed thus far, there's still one sense of something left, a promise made because it was asked of her. It's not even a warm thought. More like one of the only she'd had, staring down Eren and knowing there was too great a chance she mightn't get away. )

To think of living as being convenient.

( It is forced. She and Jean aren't liable to see eye to either, literally or otherwise. Given the height disparity, it leaves Annie looking up at him, her fringe falling back toward her ears. Her nose and cheeks are turning the slow, budding red of someone exposed in the elements. Her eyes seem about as cool as the weather as she consider's Jean's face. )

The average person would consider food, lodging, and clothing to be enough to survive. Calling life convenient in a cage where you're forced to fight for the cause of another, changed on the whims of another, and taken away from everything you know to adapt to a place with new rules, new faces, and hidden motivations... if that's what you call convenient, then maybe you are an idiot here.

( She doesn't think either of them are particularly stupid. I know. It's all there is to it. )
