[The sound of pages turning is clear enough, followed by a soft spoken voice.]

I'm, uncertain of how this is particularly possible, but- I think I'll ask later of how this could even be possible. [Abel is just a little lost, help.] It seems like something you would dream up, not a thing The Deity emself would make.

I merely wish to ask, if anyone has seen a certain man in particular. He is tall, very thin, has pale blond hair and has pale blue eyes. He is The Judge and it is my job to aid him.

If you have seen him, please do tell me. [He pauses and simply adds.] Thank you for any information, I appreciate all of it.

[Relief at SUDDEN LUCE. Even with his disapproval.] With our current surroundings, its best to use what resources you have.

I have meandered back into the woods to find my own book, I was informed it would be useful and I am pleased it is.

Stay where you are. I will find you. [Less a command considering Abel being soft at the edges. He's on the move if the sounds around him are anything to go by.]

I am pleased you haven't tried destroying the book. I was worried you would.

I was quite tempted, but I figured leaving it be would be the best route. Who knows what might escape the book if I burned it.

Its good you resisted. Otherwise we would have had a hard time finding you in this- odd place.

But now you have one of those dreaded books too.

They'll be useful. You know we can gather information considerably quicker than by word of mouth. [Soon enough Luce will be able to see the broad shouldered man appear amongst the trees in the forest.]

Luce! [He waves his hand in greeting, closing the book before moving forward to greet the smaller man.]

[Then in a loud whisper]

NOT SO LOUD THE BOOKS CAN HEAR US.

I've closed the book- I'm certain it can't hear us. [Tucking it under his arm as he approaches.]

[Still in the loud whisper.]

I don't trust it.

I think things will be well. [He picks through his robes, finding his prayer beads, winding them around the book.] Here. It is closed. My beads keep it shut.

Just burn the book! We shouldn't have to worry about a book eavesdropping on us.

We are not burning the books. They are worth keeping. We can learn from them and see why we are here.

We are here because we have been kidnapped by some Malnololosso or something.

Malololosso? [His brows quirk some.] Are you certain that is the correct name?

Did you ask no questions of how we got here? [His wings fluff up some with his words.]

I read some of it! And some woman- who believes in nothing- distracted me.

You should read more. [He keeps the book close, resisting his impulse to check.]

A woman- who does not believe in the Deity. Or any Deity! Not even like those people I one time heard about who worship a jar they found. [Which was only a urban legend Luce heard and had believed.]

Then I will. One of us needs to know what is going on here.

[His expression is clearly surprised by that bit of news.] Really?

Goodness. We, certainly aren't near home then, are we?

Anything can be, so I was not going to discount us being within Sanica lands somehow.

[He stretches the small blue wings out somewhat.]

Luceti. [He repeats the name with a thoughtful wrinkle of his nose. The faint freckles across the bridge of his nose being displaced.] Interesting.

And I was told we can't go home. So we're stick here with their alekturnity and such.

Alekturnity? [Luce, remember that Abel will drill for information the more you don't give him much.] Stuck here, that- certainly isn't good, to say the very least.

I don't know what it is. I am telling you what I know.

It proves we do need the books. We'll learn from it and the people in this place.

And what if they say we need something else, like cards or star reading or sacrificing a goat? Its a slippery slope.

Somehow I doubt the book will require that from us. [Is said dryly back as Abel runs his fingers along his rosary beads as he holds the book.] It is a source of information we'll need.

I think we'll be fine. Its better to be educated than it is to be blind to the world around us.

This world is not important to us, Sancia is.

The only possibly way to get back to Sancia is to learn of this place and use what we know to get home.

Or, we can find out who kidnapped us, and judge them.

The idiot that picks at his wings and loathes the journal due to 'witchcraft'? I have seen him.

He's picking his wings? [This is followed by a gentle sigh.] He's going to hurt himself if he's not careful.

If he plucks out a feather it won't just be uncomfortable- it will be akin to being stabbed in the gut. Then he will be ill. If he pulls out too many feathers he will become bedridden with sickness. So I most certainly hopes he stops before he reaches that point and becomes my problem.

[She snorts.]

I haven't had an issue with zealotry since I arrived here. I'd almost forgotten how irritating it was.

Goodness- [Clear worry is present now.] he certainly will stop. I do not wish to see him get sick.

Good. I do not want him in my clinic- I might be tempted to treat him without anesthesia.

[Abel's face is considerably similar, but he doesn't dwell on it. The touch of uncertainty in his voice clear enough.] I'm certain it must have been- interesting.

The clinic in the battledome, I am one of the senior physicians there. Dr. Law runs both of them. And yes, I would want to treat him without painkillers, which is unethical.

[A beat, then a muted sigh.]

I suppose you are of a similar stance in regards to your deity and faith.

The battledome. [He repeats it to commit it to memory.] Oh- I can guess he didn't get on your good side.

Oh- I am Abel, I should have introduced myself sooner. [He nearly ducks his head politely in greeting if not for realizing this is still audio.]
