Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!
▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).
Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:
o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.
Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.
Above all? HAVE FUN.

Huh. Another one. What has the cycle brought now?
Might as well greet him, then.
So a short time later, the dusky skinned man is on the approach, gray blue eyes frankly curious. Oddly dressed by the Admiral's standards no doubt - jeans, a hoodie, boots, and a furry spotted hat covering black hair that seemed to catch the light and gain a sheen of deep, dark midnight blue. Which might not be the first thing Pellew catches, oh no. There are the piercings - two small gold hoops per ear, the arm and hand tattoos, and the sword.
The large and heavy nodachi sword Law always carries with him. Because... you never knew what you were going to get.]
Hello, there!

Sharp eyes took in the man's unfamiliar attire and weaponry. It was no uniform that he recognized, but then, he had no idea where he was. It would hardly be surprising for the local fashion to be something entirely strange. But he saw nothing that set him apart as a military man. No. More likely, this was a local militant...or, less happily...a bandit or gentleman of otherwise dangerous inclinations.
So Pellew doesn't salute. And he doesn't begin with demands based on his rank or title. Better to keep his hand to himself, until he was more certain where he'd ended up. But he shouts back, his tone neutral, if not exactly friendly...as if finding himself half-bare and suddenly winged was not something to send his mind whirling]
Good day, Sir!

Law stops a respectful distance away, noting the prideful stance. Hmm. Man of authority then? Perhaps. Those could be difficult to deal with, but that bridge when it comes.
Smart man of authority though. Throwing rank and titles around here didn't get you far. Nor did demanding respect based on those. Because many had no context of why they should respect those things - no history to draw on. They were just words. If you truly wanted it from those in Luceti - you kept humble about those things and demonstrated you deserved it. Pellew so far was on the right road.]
I imagine you're wondering about why you're here, with wings, and in just a pair of pants. I assure you this isn't the afterlife. [A common misconception - for reasons of the wings, Law believed. He had no knowledge of Christianity. It did not exist in his world.] This place is called Luceti. You've been pulled from your world, given wings through the process, and branded on the back of your neck by the Malnosso. [He taps his in example.] This is where they keep all their experimental subjects - we're all trapped in here by a barrier.
It's a lot to take in, and I've not even scratched the surface of what's going on. So I suggest we speak on the way to the village, where we can get you clothes, and more importantly, a drink. You will be wanting one sorely after the full explanation.

He can't process it all, but his mind filed away the details for future reference. Wings and pants, apparently common. Not dead. Luceti. Branded. Trapped. It would be sorted through later, if a moment of relative peace could be found. Meanwhile, his jaw juts slightly before he addresses the approaching man]
You imagine correctly, sir, but you'll forgive me if I'm not yet inclined to leave this place. Particularly not before I know the whereabouts of my men.

Who are your men, sir?

Trafalgar Law. I'm the captain of the Shinonome [He looks in the direction of his boat.] over there, and the head doctor at one of the clinics in the village.
[He neglects to mention he's also a pirate. A pirate captain in fact. One who's been separated from his nakama for over a year and a half.]
Yourself?
[Mild and patient. He's half expecting now that the man will not even give him a name, but well, that's how it goes sometimes.]

On foreign shores, half-naked, unarmed and bewildered, and quite likely to find that his men are dead or worse, he has little inclination to share his story with an armed and obviously dangerous man...especially when he knew very little of it, himself.
He'd taken ships and been on the wrong end of an enemy sword, but he would not be so cavalier with a fellow soldier, foe or not.
If this man was a civilian captain, there was perhaps some excuse, but that does not keep Pellew from frowning his disapproval]

That lot he just did not understand.
However he would stay calm and polite. The other man would do and respond as he pleased; Law was his own master and he would keep his dignity in this.]
I apologize, Admiral, for any offense I caused. [He is only trying to help, and he is most certainly not obligated to that, no? He could very well leave the other man high and dry on the sands.] ... I only ask because I know the sailors here and might be able to direct you to the people you seek.
[Hopefully that was respectful enough for the other man. As it was, Law figured he had gone far beyond what a typical Grand Line captain, pirate or Marine, would be willing to extend in courtesy.
The man wasn't Grand Line though. Did not know anything about their customs. And that he would keep in mind.]

You must pardon my caution. I would be grateful for the direction, but I admit I find myself in rather....difficult...circumstances.
