Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

It always is. [ she leaves the bottle at the man's elbow. ] A contrast, I mean. It was a contrast for me and I'm sure it's a contrast for Joe Somebody a few stools down and it's a contrast for all of us.

[Perhaps... but the contrast was bigger for the former pirate captain than he'd have liked it to be.

Leaving the bottle aside and placing down the tumbler, sitting straight up, Barbossa gives the woman a curious, slightly irritated look.]

In what way is it for ye then, if ye don't mind sharing the tale, miss...?

Buffy. Call me Buffy.

...And for one thing? If I was doing this back home, I'd be getting paid for it.[ but she wouldn't be doing this back home. moot point. ] For another, there'd be a whole lot more people. And even more monsters besides. Actually, this place is weirdly peaceful, in comparison.

Huh.

[applepirate]

Ah, then our worlds may not be all that different, then miss Buffy!

[A grin spread across Barbossa's face.

Indeed, there be monsters in the depths of the waters he was talking about, and there be enough people to make himself crew, and a whole lot of other folk to challenge and cross swords with. Where he came from was certainly not what you'd call a land of peace, either.

He leaned back on his chair after that, taking another sip of his rum as he did, his gaze distant.]

I was also a captain, however, where I hail from. Barbossa is the name that struck fear among me adversaries. And what I had for a long while was... freedom.

Barbossa.

[ oh, this name strikes something in her -- but maybe not fear. she frowns. ]

Hector Barbossa? [ after all, he did say he was a pirate... ]

[applepirate]

[The pirate captain frowned himself, turning his gaze back to Buffy, immediately looking at her suspiciously. His monkey gave her a stare herself.]

Where in Davy Jones' locker do ye know my full name from?

[He had his suspicions about a certain Jack Sparrow being particularly vocal about him.]

...I live with a cat named after you.

[ or -- rather -- she lives with a man who named a cat after you. ]

[applepirate]

[That was definitely not what he was expecting. A cat named after-- What?

It took him a few seconds to respond.]

A cat... ye say?

[His voice and expression were more confused than anything else.]

[ and she relishes that confusion. revelling in it, perhaps. ]

A cat. A scamp of a cat, in fact. Little Hector, feline rogue and wastrel. [ a beat. ] And far better groomed than his namesake.

[applepirate]

[Far better groomed? That woman unexpectedly developed quite the acid tongue.

And nerve, too. Telling him this...

He kept that to himself for now, the look on his face enough to convey what he thought of that.

Instead, he went on to clear some things up first...]

And who is the one that dares name a cat after myself... missy?

[ her brows raise. she isn't going to make this easy on him. ]
