[A very disgruntled looking blond is sat somewhere on the ground, topless as a set of bright orange wings begin to flex behind him. After a few moments of glaring at it, a very simple message is broadcast across the journals:]

[Oh yeah, the wings! Excuse him a sec going to try and look behind him to get a proper look at them... though ending up just going around in a full circle kind of like a dog trying to catch its own tail]

What's with these things anyway? One of the others said you can't even do anything with them. If I have to cut holes in all of my clothes just for these stupid things I'm gonna be mad!

[Okay, that was really kind of funny, and she can't help giggling at him as he spins in a circle.]

Apparently they're pretty important to your health, so don't hurt them. I've done some checking and they seemed to be tapped pretty deeply into our chakra systems, so keep that in mind.

[And she turns to show him her back; no holes, just a bit of bulginess where her wings are folded tightly against her back under her shirt.]

They fold up pretty well, though, once you get used to the feeling. It's a little cramped, that's all.

[Peering at her back now- well I guess that works too.]

Why do we have wings that we can't use but are gonna be a pain if we do anything to them. I don't get it. [HUFF.]

Neither do I. But it's through them that you'll understand other people here, and apparently there's some kind of native magic that you can use because of them. I haven't looked into it yet, though.

[But that's not really a good enough trade-off for having their bodies messed with like this.]

Mostly I just try to ignore them.

[She smiles resignedly, flipping a hand at him.]

You'll see. It'll help when they stop being sore; they start to feel normal pretty quickly.

[Grumble grumble, lousy wings. He doesnt seem too bothered by it though.]

Sooo.. what have you been doing in this place anyway?

Not really much of anything, actually... a little medical work when it's needed, a bit of training...

So we can go eat together then hang out! We haven't done that in ages!

[It's been.. way too long since any of them had been able to have a normal lazy day, at least as far as he's concerned.]

No, we haven't.

[And there's so much riding in those words; here, Naruto's been gone since before she came, and at home... at home, there's too much war and heartbreak for something like 'hanging out' to have been a consideration for ages.

It'll feel good to be normal again, with her teammate.]

I think it's a plan!

But she wants to see him smile. There've been too few of those recently, from when she's from, and she doesn't expect many more in the near future once she returns to the battlefield.

So she offers Naruto a smile that's mixed warmth and amused resignation.]

[Okay now she can't help laughing a little at his disbelief. Naruto's a whole lot of things, good and bad, but it's never a dull moment with him, that's for sure.]

I did! Crazy world, isn't it?

[And he doesn't even have to worry about money, everything's free here. He can show her a good time.]

[And he still isn't entirely convinced that this isn't some sort of elaborate dream or genjutsu so.. he's just going to go with it.]

Sakura-chan's going on a date with me to a place where I don't even need to pay for food, now I know this has got to be a dream!

[And now she's just laughing outright -- not mocking, but he's just being really cute right now. Resisting the urge to pinch his cheek...]

I'm afraid it won't be the best dream, though. There's no Ichiraku's here. [And she's not letting him feed her cup ramen!]

Yeah but Shikamaru said there's no money here. We can go to the store and make our own Ichikaru's!

[DETERMINED. Can you picture just how much ramen he's going to take out and experiment with to make the perfect meal. CAN YOU?]

[Just as long as he doesn't inflict it on her!]

Just remember that you do need to eat other things besides ramen, Naruto! Otherwise you won't have the fitness to be a proper ninja.

Yeah yeah, I know! I gotta eat more vegetables, I can just put them into the ramen! [Close enough.]

[At least he exercises enough that he'll just be malnourished, not fat. She can help with malnourished.]

Well, that's better than nothing. But you should also eat things that aren't stewed in a salty broth, you know.

Anyway, that's for later. For now, you're taking me on a date. [And she offers him a challenging look.]

Well, there's the beach... or, hmm, picnics are nice as dates too...

That sounds lovely! I think it's a plan.

[She can help him find food -- and steer him away from packing an entirely unhealthy picnic. Maybe it'll be even fun as a pre-date. Or something.

All she knows is Naruto's here and despite the bad implications, it's nice to have her teammate around. Steadying.]

[Later on it will probably sink in that he is really here and he'll wonder why the hell he's sitting on abeach instead of doing something about it... but for now, this will do.]
