don't stop me now

the luceti test drive meme

Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

I did. All the way into town, its quaint little shops, and found a final destination in the restaurant. It's a peculiar operation you folks have here.

Everything a high class prison could want. Easiest way to keep people calm is to keep them distracted with the comforts of home.

...Who's in charge?

[ she has a hunch. because damn if it isn't always umbrella... ]

[voice]

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2013-04-17 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
Inside the enclosure? Nobody. Everyone has their own thing going, although there tends to be a few individuals that step up during certain situations, like the drafts.

Outside, it's the Malnosso, although I get the impression they're not exactly stable within their own group, so who might be in charge can apparently change from time to time.

[ the malnosso. that's who she'd read about. but the reason she asked... ]

What about Umbrella? Does that ring any bells?

[ better the devil you know? ]

[voice]

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2013-04-17 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
No. No Umbrella here.

If that's something from where you're from, chances are it doesn't exist here, at least not as a group. Some individuals from the place might show up, but other than that? The phrase 'You're not in Kansas anymore' rings pretty much true and with similar implications.

Still. [ an evil corporation is still an evil corporation. genetic experiments and all. she sighs. ] I have some experience with organizations like this...Malnosso goup. They may not be Umbrella, but the similarities are there.

Since I have nothing to compare them with, I'll take your word for it.

I have a feeling though that Umbrella is likely easier to deal with. These guys you can't even get a bead on, but they can pull the strings on folks and the environment itself without a problem. And considering some of the folks here have...well, best way I can put it is mythical abilities and powers...

[The implied shrug is in his voice.]

[He shakes his head out of habit.]

No. Might seem like it to those of us who don't have those kinds of abilities, but depending on what world they're from, it can be natural for them and their home. We're pretty much looking at alternate and multiple universe theory here, with all the universes apparently getting randomly dumped here.

I think of it like getting locked in a room with a full dumpster. It's always going to stink, but after a while your own brain shuts your sense of smell down so you aren't constantly registering it and trying to gag. Leave the room and come back? It'll start smelling all over again.

I think getting too comfortable in this place is a big mistake, nice as it might be most of the time.

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2013-04-18 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Get stuck in a fishbowl no one can figure out how to get out of, and you learn to play nice. Especially since even death here only lasts for about a week. Be kinda uncomfortable otherwise.

[He was often surprised how well the village got along with itself. Then again, maybe other than the notable few, they'd lucked out in that regard. Someone truly desperate to take everyone in the place down would be able to do an incredible amount of damage.]

People who don't stay dead...[ another sigh. that had been a tough fact to read. ] I admit, the concept isn't exactly new to me. But it also isn't comforting.

[voice]

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2013-04-18 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
They usually come back more or less as they were, although from what I understand, there's usually some sort of price. A memory lost. Or skill. Something like that. But it's not like they come back undead...or otherwise as some sort of monster. And considering that I come from some place where if you come back, it's a real bad thing, I think I can deal with this.
otype: (☢ raise my flags)

[voice]

[personal profile] otype 2013-04-18 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. I mean -- I don't know about dealing with it, but I also come from somewhere where a return from the dead is a very bad sign.

[ for a while, she thought it was just her... ]

[voice]

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2013-04-18 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I figure wasting time letting it get to me isn't gonna help, so I'm keeping it even.

[He makes a quiet sound that sounds something like 'huh'.]

So what's your brand of resurrected monster, then? Mine is vampires.

[ vampires? wow. she has little room to be sceptical, and yet she is. ]

They're victims of a viral outbreak. Most of the time, it's not their fault. It starts with fever. Nausea. Itching. Insatiable hunger. And it only escalated from there. The skin rots. They feel no more pain but they barely think.

[voice]

[personal profile] rather_be_surfing 2013-04-18 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)

[voice]

[personal profile] otype 2013-04-18 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I try to avoid the z-word. [ at the very least, it's grown tacky over the years. ] And it is. Highly. The t-Virus can chew through a city in mere hours, but the monsters are only a side-effect of something more insidious.

[ her voice evens out, as though parts of the tale are well-rehearsed. ] It, and other viral agents like it, were created for their mutagenic properties. The idea was that, on infection, the virus would edit a subject's DNA. Make them stronger. Give them abilities unseen in the natural world. They were creating a B.O.W.
