Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

"You do realize I made up the roaches, right? I'd have been long gone from the building if there had actually been any--

Look. You're here. I'm here. We could both be here for a while. Do me a favour and if you're still around and I start to slip into the delusion? Promise you'll give me a stern talking-to."

"I'll be sure to prepare charts for it."

"Charts, huh? History books and charts. And Latin. You're a strange one, Mister Drake."

"Keep that up and I'll just wait and watch you slip."

"Charts, books, Latin, and a conspicuous lack of kindly altruism. Scribbling that one down in my mental file."

"Seems you've got me all figured out. So what about you, Claire. What has you so antsy that you can't trust your life to eccentric billionaires from comic books?"

She answered his question by not answering it at all: "I haven't met many eccentric billionaires I've actually liked. Granted, they weren't fictional. Perhaps I'll like the fictional ones more.

But as for me? I'll take motorcycles over dead theologues. Any day."

"Nothing wrong with that. I've never owned a vehicle, personally. I can't afford the insurance."

Most of them ended up in explosions.

"Which suggests your concern over why I dislike the rich and fabulous wasn't a personal thing. That's a relief."

"You're saying this doesn't look like the face of an eccentric billionaire? I'm hurt."

"Are we really back to talking about your looks?" A light and mockish sigh. "I will say that it doesn't look like the face of someone who reads anything in the original Latin. So you did surprise me there."

"See, this is what happens when I leave the thick rimmed glasses at home. I've really got to stop doing that."

"It's only fair. The rest of us would like to know before we stumble our way into conversation with an undercover nerd."

"Well Claire, they'll never let you sit at the cheerleader table now. Not after this social faux pas."

Her laughter remained light. Unqualified, really. Certainly careless.

"You've ruined me!" Claire dropped both of her palms flat against the table, leaning back in an attempt to look scandalized. "Socially speaking, I am damaged goods. The quarterback will never ask me to the prom, now."

Inevitably he had to chuckle. Hey, she was good. Not everyone eased into the kind of banter that was often tossed around between him and his friends. He was actually enjoying himself.

"You can always try the chess club. Sure, you won't get prom queen that way, but they're generally pretty desperate."

"...Don't tell me you play chess."

Chess. Latin. Charts. Old, dead books. "Unless it's some kind of extreme sports version, I'm not sure people get arms like that from playing chess."

"What, these?" He glanced down at one of his arms. "Ha ha, that's from all the heavy reading I do.

"...I knew I should have never dropped out of college."

As if somehow all the fit, athletic men could be found there instead of in her chosen profession. It was an innocent lie, given the amount of soldiers with whom she generally associated.

"I probably should have went."

Disbelief struck her face. Claire's eyes first narrowed, then widened, then narrowed again.

"Seriously? I thought..." Trailing off.

"Never exactly made it past the fifth grade, actually."

Sheepish -- and perhaps just a little guilty for her assumptions -- she glanced away and busied a few fingers with adjusting the elastic on her high ponytail. "I would have put money down on you being an associate professor. Something along those lines."

He chuckled in self satisfaction. "So, now I'm a mystery, aren't I? So why does an uneducated, Latin-reading, history-loving reasonably good looking guy spend his time reading a fantasy novel in a library?"
