Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

We need an actual basket? [She hadn't thought about that. Then again, her picnics were normally just tossed in a grocery bag. Nothing fancy. Not that there was a lot of places for great picnicking in Gotham.] I can wait, if you think we need one. Do we need anything else while we're here?

Need? No; we could carry lunch in anything, really. But why not have one? [Zatanna lifts her hands, palms turned up, and shrugs her shoulders. Yes, it's an indulgence, but not a bad one. She steps back into the shop, motioning for Artemis to follow.]

Something to sit on, like a blanket or a sheet. And if we don't want to stop by the apartment, grabbing some dishes wouldn't hurt either.

You take dishes on picnics?

[Yes, that's skepticism in Artemis's voice, although she veers off to the right.]

I'll grab us a blanket.

Alright, now I'm worried about how much time you've spent eating with Wally. [Zatanna peeks through the shelves to nod at Artemis as she teases the other girl.] I guess it depends on what we get, but unless we're sticking to strictly finger food, it'd be a good idea.

[She takes a few steps further, trying to remember exactly where she saw the basket from before.]

Any time spent with Wally inevitably ends up involving food. [Her voice turns wry at that, but there's a hint of fond exasperation in her voice all the same. There's a bunch of blankets folded on one of the shelves and she roots through them, dragging out a large brown plaid one that looks like it'll do the trick before heading back to Zatanna.]

Think this will work?

And dishes being optional. [Zatanna shares that same sense of fondness, though maybe not to the extent Artemis does.

She's crouching down when Artemis comes over, tugging a basket carefully out from a bottom shelf. She glances up, smile brightening as she takes a look at the blanket in her arms.]

Yeah, definitely. [She opens the top of the basket to check, revealing flatware and dishes.] Hey, it's a set. That's convenient.

Whoa. [Artemis leans over Zatanna's shoulder to peer down at the basket in surprise.] Next they'll be finding ways to squeeze in a minifridge and the kitchen sink.

Probably. [But that's a bit much even for this, and Zatanna closes the basket again after letting Artemis get a good look.] This will work perfectly. It's got everything for two people, and it's pretty cute.

[Standing again, she lifts the basket, then turns to Artemis.] Now I think we can go.

Good. I'm starved. [Artemis falls into step with her with an easy grin as they leave the item shop and she turns them down the walk towards the grocery store.]

What are you hungry for?

Anything, really. We could make sandwiches pretty easily. Or see what they have prepared. [Zatanna grins.] I've had fried chicken on a picnic before. My dad thought--

[The memory catches up with her then, all too vivid and clear. Zatanna hesitates for a moment, shifting the basket in her hands.]

[Her gaze flitted quickly to Zatanna's face when the other girl abruptly broke off, her expression concerned. Zatanna’s father was an uncomfortable subject and Artemis knew how much she missed him, and she wasn’t sure what to say. So she just reached out and draped one arm about the other girl’s shoulders, giving her a small hug.]

Fried chicken sounds delicious. Should we see if they have some?

Yeah. We definitely should.

[She gives Artemis a small smile, thankful that the other girl understood. Reaching up to lightly squeeze the hand on her shoulder, she pushes back the emotions that creep up whenever she thinks of her dad, not willing to let it get to her.]

And potato salad. I'm pretty sure that's mandatory on a picnic.

Oh, absolutely. Can't do without that. [Artemis shoots her a grin and leads her outside, stepping into the warm sunshine.] It wouldn't be a picnic otherwise.

[It feels pretty good to be outside, and Zatanna lifts the basket over her head as she stretches her arms a bit.]

Sounds like we're off to a good start. And the bakery is on the way to the grocery, if we want to stop there for dessert. That's the most important part of any meal, right?
