Player Name: Shira
Are you new?: N
Character Name: Shayera (Hawkgirl) Hol
Character Fandom: Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, DCA
[Shayera awoke on a grassy meadow in a damp white dress that even she would consider short, with a pain in her back and her mace immediately to her right.
Well. Things could be worse.
Slowly, so as not to attract attention in case someone was watching her, she reached out for the hilt of her familiar weapon. Once she had it in her hand, Shayera immediately sprang to her feet.
Oh good. There was no one in sight. Peachy. That meant there was no one around to immediately pound for answers. She attempted to take to the sky, but her back immediately exploded in pain.]
What the--
[She craned her head to see two tiny useless golden wings between her two Thanagarian ones. Now that annoyed her.]
All right, whatever joker thought it was a good idea to take away my clothes and leave me my mace should come out now so we can share a good laugh.
[Glancing around again, she located a book. Picking it up, she saw her name on it.]
Oh, you've got to be kidding me.

Just how many times are you saying you've been here?

[A hint of a smirk at that, but he was not amused by it at all. He'd had his own history of failures, but none quite as bad as this.]
no subject
And you don't know what's bringing us here? Or why they see fit to do this?
[She turns around so he can see her wings within wings.]

It's a bio-morphic side effect of arriving in this universe. I've got them too. So do the Malnosso.

Cute. [Pathetic, really. Look at the dinky little things.] They can't possibly work.
[She was stalling, really. He'd given her all the pieces of information she needed in order to put the situation together, and she didn't like it one bit. She didn't want to have to say it, not when they were talking so civilly after... but she would have to say it, in a moment.]

[Though he looks down at the village warily.]
Problem is, the people on this world are born with wings like yours. There's a whole army filled with them just itching to wipe us out. You might run into people who aren't very good at telling the difference.

Shayera rested the head of her mace in one hand almost contemplatively.]
Then I guess I won't have to worry about winning any popularity contests.

The people in this enclosure are reasonable enough. It's on the outside you'll have trouble.
no subject
Trouble, I can handle. But I don't do well in enclosed spaces.
[She began to fly upwards.]
no subject
What are you doing, Shayera?

[And from the way she's gripping her mace, three guesses as to what she does when she gets there, and your first two don't count.]

[Literally. An invisible barrier means she's just going to run smack into it. So he sends up a beam of energy up and past the two of them. It splashes off the top of the barrier with a brilliant effect and a slight ripple from the barrier distorts the sky above.]
no subject
[And with a shout, she sped up towards the barrier. Sure. Clark, Diana, and Bruce had all been here along with John and they hadn't gotten out, but she hadn't tried hitting it yet. She wouldn't rest easy until she did. After all, Nth metal had properties that the other memories of the team just weren't equipped with.]

But if it didn't work or if it backfired, then he wanted plenty of room to catch her.]
no subject
She had more immediate, if less frustrating concerns. She needed to right herself as opposed to crashing into the ground. The additional wings on her back were making that difficult. Damn the things.]

As it was, her fall was simply stopped. Her wings - her knew wings - reacted with extreme pain. She made a soft sound of pain which she attempted to cover with an:] Oomph.

[It would have contoured to fit her new wings better. Less rough that way. Regardless, his eyes were glued to the top of the barrier, still hoping for some kind of lingering effect.
Once again he was disappointed. An all too familiar experience.]
no subject
That wouldn't, of course, stop her from trying again. But possibly not while John was here to catch her.

Batman, naturally, watched. Even though he knew they had no chance at it, he never said as much.
