[Happy hadn't been here in Luceti long. Almost a week. But he was getting used to things and spending his time as constructively as possible.

A lot of that time involved doing what he could to beef up the security of Tony and Pepper's house. He wondered how they'd made it this long without him around, even with the Iron Man Suit and those other fancy Avenger guys around. That god guy who devastated New York was around, after all.

So he puts himself to work throughout the day. First, he spends some time procuring power tools and whatever materials he needs from the stores and maybe the smithy. Only briefly checking to see if any Downton Abbey DVDs have arrived. And he tries eying or maybe even tailing any suspicious individuals he may see hanging around these places - they seem to attract unusual types.

Then he heads over to House 49 and goes to work. He spends a good hour or so changing the house's locks. Afterwards, he sets up a table outside the front door and starts laying out name badges. Anyone who's going to see Tony Stark or Pepper will have to go through him. And he calls out to people nearby, even if they're not necessarily heading towards the house.]

Hey! Hey, you there! What's the big idea, buddy?

[Pepper hasn't been too concerned since Happy arrived. Yes, she knows the adjustment from their lives back home to the new environment can be a difficult one, especially since they have completely different roles to play. Instead of being a head of an industry leading company, Pepper runs a simple art gallery. Tony--well, he's Tony, and he still tinkers. But on different things and not nearly so much, as Pepper's seen to, so even he's had to adjust.

But when she starts getting concerned questions about the guy who's set up shop outside her house--and then complaints--Pepper decides it's time to have a talk with her head of security.]

Hello, Happy. [Pepper does smile when she walks up to the table, though it's a bit tight as she looks over the name badges. She picks one up, turning it over in her hand.] I take it you've been busy.

[Oh, it's Pepper! Hopefully now she can see the value of his work. He gives her a smile as he leans in back on his chair. It's a cheap folding table by the way.]

Pepper! Hey. Great to see you. Busy? I wouldn't call it busy. It's just... I'm helping us, with the whole, you know, 'setting in' process. [Getting laminated cards was still a pain and a half, though.]

[handing]

[Oh, Happy. You try so hard. And Pepper honestly feels bad because he really is trying to keep them safe and protected. But it's just not really...good.

Now she just has to convince him of that.]

About that. You know, Happy, we aren't in Malibu anymore. This isn't Stark Industries, with hundreds of employees. It's just our house, and I think the name badges might be taking things a bit too far under the circumstances.

[There she is, being all confusing about her compliments again. Bless her soul.]

Pepper, I hear you. I really do. But I think you lost me a little there, near the end. I mean, that seems like all the more reason to have more proper security here. All these strangers from other worlds, from our world - you want them just knocking on your door all the time?

[handing]

[Oh please say this isn't actually happening.]

Happy, I appreciate what you're trying to do. [The thought is well-intentioned, after all.] But I actually am okay with people coming to visit without security passes, yes. And they aren't all strangers; a lot of these people are friends of ours, who are very confused as to why there's suddenly a checkpoint on our lawn.

[driveyourcar]

I hear you, Pepper - I hear you a hundred percent. And I don't think you're wrong, not at all. But I also think I might still be right, in a different way. It's just a little formality. It can't hurt! Especially with people like Mr. Nuke New York in the neighborhood.

[handing]

[Happy Happy what are you doing oh my god.]

It's...it's a nice thought, Happy. But if people like Loki really wanted to come over, I somehow don't think a lack of a name tag is going to stop them. And for the record, he doesn't come over.

[Except for the few times he has which Pepper is very purposely not mentioning right now.]

[alloys]

[ Tony is actually LEAVING (!), and thus, as he usually does, he turns to lock the door. Except his key doesn't fit, and there's Happy out front, with a booth full of badges. Oh my god. ]

I know you're the more-or-less self-proclaimed expert as this thing, but - you know, you kind of defeat the purpose in changing the locks if we can't get in and out, either. Just a thought.

[driveyourcar]

[Happy's on his feet and walking towards the door already.]

I'm on it - I'm on it! You've gotta give me some credit, Tony. I have a key, and for now, that's all we'll need. [And he pulls out a small rack of keys and goes to lock the door for him.]

[alloys]

Yeah, that's not gonna fly. [ There are few times he misses being Happy's boss. This is...still not one of them, but it's close. Because he already has a feeling about how this is going to go.

He presses his palms together. ] Actually, I'm going to need one of those, too, because believe it or not, you are not going to play doorman twenty-four seven. That's a little creepy, among many other reasons.

[driveyourcar]

[He is fumbling for the right key when he looks up at Tony searchingly.]

Oh, you want your own key. I see - I mean, I can understand that, Tony.

[alloys]

Do you? Okay, then. Here's an idea - how about, until you obtain said extra keys, you let me have yours? This being my house, and all - oh, and Miss Potts'.

[driveyourcar]

I'm just trying to look out for you two, Tony. You know that, right?

[alloys]

Right. And I'm looking out for you, so Pepper doesn't fire you. What goes around comes around. Circle of life.

[driveyourcar]

Circle of life - I thought we agreed on no more Lion King references. I'm sure we agreed on that at some point. But Pepper... I mean if you can keep her off my back for just a little while longer? I'm sure the results can convince her. I guarantee it.

[alloys]

[ Happy plz. ] So - wait, let me get all my ducks in a row here. You want me to be your...middle man? Me? Is that what's happening here? Your wings screwed on right?

[herotypical]

[ buffy is trying to visit. like she often does. it's what friends do -- they visit other friends. but today, there's a...stranger outside tony and pepper's door.

huh. ]

It's Buffy. [ she sighs her name, fully aware that this strange guy didn't make a mistake so much as accidentally trip over a word rather similar to her name. ] Not buddy, Buffy. And the big idea generally involves me plus them -- [ she tilts her head at the house ] -- and a few delicious lattes.

[driveyourcar]

Buffy. [Like... the tv show? The resemblance is uncanny.] Like... the vampire slayer, Buffy?

[herotypical]

...Tony let the cat out of the bag, huh? Figures. A girl can't keep a secret around here.

[widows_kiss]

[Swinging by House 49 is not an unusual occurrence for Natasha. She was actually looking for Pepper, but as the Gallery had been empty, this was the next logical stop. Her pace didn't slow as she swung off the road and up the path to Tony and Pepper's front door. She spared a brief glance at Happy parked outside, one eyebrow arching upwards.]

Aren't you missing the lemonade? [She motions at his table as she keeps walking, not intending to stop.]

I really need to review Iron Man 2 lolol

Lemona- come on!

[He's quickly scampering up from the table and into her path.]

I at least have to know what name you're going by this week.

[There wasn't even a hesitation before she rattled off a random name, neatly sidestepping his mad scramble and continuing on her way.]
