[It's the morning on the eighth day since waking up, not in her Manhattan apartment as expected, but in this middle of nowhere, hodunk town located on this middle of nowhere, hodunk planet in a reality she's been told there's no escape from. Threats have been made. Multiple attempts at information seeking have been conducted. Repeated conversations with both Billy and Teddy, drilling them on everything they could possibly know.

The result? Zip. Nada.

Okay. Well, if she has to be stuck somewhere, at least it's a place where the coffee's halfway decent. But talking to a book? Kate continues to stare down at it, dressed in pajamas, mug in one hand as she prompts the journal against her folded knees. Give her a smartphone any day.]

So. Talking book. They couldn't have gone with something less bulky to carry around? It doesn't exactly have to be Stark level technology, but c'mon. This is so last century.

[Taking a sip from her mug, she then places it on the nearby night table and picks up the book with both hands. She tilts it down and to the left, spreading the pages out wide.]

[Later in the day, Kate Bishop can be found shopping at the items shop or running simulations at the Battledome. It's not her bow, not her world, but there's no way in hell she's going to slip up on her training now.]

[Teddy looks over his own mug of coffee, eying the journal, then rolls his eyes away, hiding his smile in the mug. God, he agrees with her so hard. And it reminds him of when he first showed up here, feeling like he was Jake Sully talking to a tree...]

Yeah, you're on, Kate. Think less Pagemaster with the journal, too; they're actually pretty useful.

[The reference gets a chuckle and a bit of an eye roll on her end. Talking about last century...]

Useful would be this thing actually fitting into the back pocket of my jeans, Teddy.

[There's a small pause as Teddy looks over the lid of his mug again, then lowers it with a sigh of resignation, though the smile remains as he moves a finger in the air as if marking a tally.]

Point one for you, then. ... Actually, make that a million points for you. I'd take a Starkphone over this any day.

[She flashes him a smug smile.]

Y'know, I never thought I'd miss my phone this much. Not to mention civilization. A vacation can be nice, but I'm ready to go back to New York now.

[Hi Kate, guess whose voice is heard between keyboard-clacking and coffee-sipping? (But he's not bragging about having a computer or anything.)]

It gets worse when it decides to turn itself on at 4 in the morning. If I were you I'd leave it in the living room before you go to sleep.

[Oh, she hears that sound. And definitely recognizes it for what it is. That's so not fair, Billy.]

[h e h though he did have to pay a high price for it. In his dignity, anyway.]

Just how it sounds. There's been times where it decides to start recording at the worst possible moment, or when you accidentally knock it open... it happened to me and Teddy once.

[Who needs dignity when you have actual, working technology?]

I'm not even going to ask what you guys were doing. Does this sort of thing happen often?

I think cell phones would clash with the whole folksy backwater village theme they've got going here.

[Her eyebrows raise, already looking skeptical.]

And that Battledome doesn't?

What, you don't remember TRON being next door to Little House On The Prairie?

[Wow. Can you get any more old school?]

[It's not exactly unusual to find Clint at the Battle Dome for training. There may actually have been jokes made about why he doesn't just move a bed there, but training is training, he has a routine, and today is no exception. He heads over to one of the consoles, dropping his bag and SHIELD jacket nearby and starts programming for today.]

[She hasn't exactly had a chance to run into him yet, even though she's been told about him. Clint from another universe. Definitely something Kate has to see.

But even then, she doesn't connect the dots right away. Instead, all she sees is someone appearing to alter the program she had already set - fighting some circus freaks that would give any sane person the creeps - and storms over.]

[Clint doesn't even turn around when someone storms over to him. No-one wanting to attack him would be dumb enough to announce themselves so blatantly, right? He just smiles slightly.]

Setting up my programme. Different room, don't worry although that's an interesting setup you've got. Do you often have to fight circus clowns?

Lately? [She shrugs, still watching him a little warily.] This guy I work with has a habit of attracting them out of the woodwork.

[Natasha is just wrapping up her session in the Battle Dome, slipping out of one of the training rooms in her catsuit and toweling off her damp curls. She doesn't pay much attention to the girl at the console at first - there's almost always a constant stream of people in and out of these rooms, no matter what time of day it is. The sight of a bow propped up beside her does have her giving the girl a second glance in speculation, however.]

[Kate isn't exactly paying all that much attention to those around her, either. Purple wings that nearly match in color to her catsuit flutter impatiently as she plays around with the controls. The first simulation had been too easy. The plan was to break a sweat, not to laze around.]

[Her curiosity winning out, Natasha lets her towel drape around her shoulders as she saunters over to where the girl is frowning at the console.]

[She's not a fangirl like Teddy and Billy are fanboys. But when she turns around to see who's addressed her, she immediately stands up straighter.

The boys forgot to tell her that she was here. And if there's anything Kate can respect, it's all those other non-superpowered superheros out there. She quickly shook her head in response to the question.]
