Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.

▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

[That sure is a guy sitting on the roof of the shrine with a crow trying to eat his pants.

And this sure is Ty Lee hanging upside-down from a tree branch, her knees hooked neatly over it, ready to protect the integrity of his clothing!]

Hey! Heeeey! That bird's eating your clothes, guy!

A)
[Sam is definitely enjoying the luxuries that Luceti has to offer. Y'know, things like hot showers, clean clothes that definitely haven't come from an unlucky corpse, unlimited food.

Tea that actually tastes of tea instead of brown water because they've used the teabags so much. Which is why he can be found in the tea room now, having ordered a pot (a whole bloody pot!) of tea and a kind of massive slice of cake with ice cream, which is probably more calories than he gets in a day's rations back home and it's all for him. Even after being in Luceti for a while, he still stares at the food like he's worried it's all going to vanish if he isn't careful, but that's what you get when you're used to living in the world after the zombie apocalypse.]

B)
[Despite being told that there are absolutely, definitely no zombies around here, crowded places, like the club or the bar, still leave him on edge. Walking back after dark even moreso. Everyone knows that zoms are more active at night, it's why they never do night runs unless there is absolutely no other choice.

He sort of watches people at the club more than participating anyway, sitting close to the door so that he can leave if anyone starts screaming about getting bitten. When he walks home, he's wrapped up tight in his coat, moving quickly, watching around himself, checking over his shoulder just in case something should happen to shamble out of the trees.]

[And that certainly is a loud and obnoxious voice cutting into his meditation.]

[Sasuke opens his eyes a sliver, Sharingan spinning red and black from unconscious automation than from annoyance or threat, to eye the girl... dangling from a branch. The surprises here keep coming.]

[After a moment, though, his gaze drops from her to the crow, and he lifts his hand to ruffle the feathers on the top of its head with delicate fingers. It gives a soft, surprised little caw, but loses interest in the thread poking out of the inseam of his calf to lean into the pet.]

It's harmless enough. One loose thread won't unravel my entire outfit.

[This one won't, at least - Sharingan gaze tells him it's worn enough near the seam that a few good tugs will break it off instead of pulling out ten stitches.]

II

[Sasuke stops midstride to glance sidelong at the older man. His wings are a fiery red at the patagium and coverts, white for the primary and secondary feathers, so, yes, unusual. The wording though - well, Sasuke only isn't glaring outright because the old man looks about as powerful as a bee.]

My wings look "funny" to you?

[Sasuke has been watching from a nearby rooftop, his attention caught by someone doing something while doing nothing at all. In any normal circumstance, he'd couch it as insanity.]

[But his Sharingan see that the man's movements are methodical and perfect - exact. The way he throws and catches... it's in line with the physics of motion. If he had a real ball in his hand (Sharingan can guess at almost the exact size and weight), and if the wall were - he follows the motion of arm and hand in a toss, then a catch again - there, this man would be moving the exact same way. It's as though he does hold something physical.]

[He's been watching for a little more than a thousand throws when he finally descends from the roof with a light leap, approaching from the stranger's right side.]

[Ty Lee has discovered a camera. Look out, Luceti.

Our sudden intrepid junior photographer is now stalking the village armed with her new best buddy Polaroid, completely fascinated with this entire concept. Just point and click, and you've got an instant image of whatever you pointed at! This is big news in her world, guys!

Even better, she can stick the pictures in the journals and broadcast them for everyone to see and admire her skills. But no one has really introduced her to the idea that you should get people's permission first -- so if she thinks you look interesting, or if you're doing something she thinks is cool, congrats! You're on Candid Camera, Luceti edition -- with a blurry Polaroid of you broadcast across the journals for the world to see!]

[Talking animals. Oh man, talking animals! They're definitely not anything Ty Lee's accustomed to from her own world -- they all look so... so plain! Incomplete, even!

But nontheless, they're animals, and in pursuit of feeling like she's at home, Ty Lee wants a circus. You can't have a circus without performing animals, and so she's on her quest to bring them in.

Unfortunately, these animals aren't too bright.

So that's why she's kneeling in front of a very confused fox, trying to convince it that walking on its hind legs is something it should really be interested in trying.]

No, see, look! If you do that, then everyone will be really impressed with you! You'll look awesome! And then maybe you can learn to do it balancing on top of a ball, and that'll be even cooler! You'll be the best fox... uh, fox in the whole forest!

Hmm. And maybe we could put a little hat on you...

[And she gives him as serious a look as an upside-down preteen can, but brightens a moment later.]

Hey, are you training these birds? Cause a bunch of crow-somethings that can do tricks would be awesome!

[He spots it - and her, because really, that's not something he'd jog past without admiring. His pace slows, then stops as he bends down to scoop up the runaway water bottle, changing his course to bring him closer to where she's at. He holds it out with a crooked grin.]

Here, I think you might have lost something. Or it's abandoning ship. Slippery little bugger.

[ light laughter, and she's planting her palms on the ground just so she can push herself back onto her feet. claire drags the tips of her fingers over her brow, trying to clear auburn strands from her face.

then, at long last, she reaches out for the offending bottle. ] I should really get one of those hydration belts, instead. Annoying? Mmhm. Borderline tacky? Yes. But at least they can't escape.

Claire. [ she smiles, and has to juggle her water bottle into the crook of her arm just to free her hand up for the shake. but when she does shake his hand, it's warm and firm but friendly. ] And I'm certain they do. Smaller bottles all around the...

You probably don't really want to hear me talk about them, though. Here we are, in a world of wings and magic and unbelievable things, and I'm trying to tell you about hydration belts.

Birds aren't cats; they aren't generally fool enough to eat string.

[He says, with full knowledge the ninneko would give him a few good claw marks for that.]

[The question brings half a twist of a smile to his lips. No, he's not the one with the crows that do tricks.]

I'm not. I've just been around birds long enough to understand them as they are.

[So saying, he drops his hand to ruffle at the crow's belly instead of its head, and it steps easily up onto his hand. He gets a scrape or two from its blunt talons for not using a glove, but it's nothing he worries about. He's better with animals than he is with people by a fair shot - which just makes this place even more calming.]

I fully support using them for silly goofy things! :D If you got it, flaunt it

Hmm. They really don't seem afraid of you at all.

[Let her ponder that for a moment.]

Could you train them if you wanted to? Cause that'd be really useful, if you could make them all do what you wanted and stuff!

B - assuming a reunion has already happened

[The familiarity of the shrine means that it's a common place for Itachi to visit as well. It has a calming, peaceful atmosphere, which no doubt Sasuke has already figured out for himself.

The crows are, of course, already familiar with him. There won't be any illusions today, however. No need to waste the energy. Physically jumping up to the roof is easy enough as it is.

He approaches his brother from the opposite side, feet silent. The crows scatter only enough to allow him room to sit, which he does. He mimics Sasuke's posture and doesn't interrupt him. It's good to see the younger ninja taking part in this sort of routine.]

[The little smile widens just a bit closer to full to hear aloud that the birds are not afraid.] Crows and ravens are smarter than you'd think.

[Training, though? Sasuke looks up at her again, blinking once at ... well, everything. And then, a short laugh.]

I don't need to train mundane birds to do my bidding, and I certainly don't need [or want] to join any circus.

[ Oh jesus, is he a doctor? This is going to get awkward really fast.

Actually, it was already awkward. ]

Not sick. [ Seriously don't make this into a diagnosis, man. He's just chatty for a corpse. ]

[ Yeah, he is so not used to people greeting him with "hello" and not a bullet in the chest. It's kind of stunning, actually. His responses were delayed at the best of times, but for a moment, he just stares at her. ]

[ Jesus, the people here are weird. Why isn't she terrified of him? Well, that probably won't last long.

Hey, at least talking about music is easier than explaining why he looks like a reanimated corpse. ]

M-music. [ He grumbles. ] Records. Better sound.

[How lucky he is that she doesn’t even know what a bullet is. She does have a sword, however, but at the moment, she sees no reason to use it.]

...Are you well? You look really pale.

[She looks him over, innocent, with something of a neutral smile.]

[Sasuke can, of course, sense the other's approach all the same, silent or no, with the same sort of sense that slumbering person senses a waking companion in the room - but with more certainty and clarity, the honed chakra sense of the shinobi.]

[When Itachi sits? The edges of a smile touch at Sasuke's lips, restrained but sincere. He doesn't open his eyes - doesn't need to - but knows his brother has settled into the same posture all the same. It brings up a pang of something familiar yet long-forgotten, nostalgic. He doesn't speak at first.]

[When the crow hops from his knee to Itachi's, though, the smile breaks out a little more firmly.]

Heh. They know you here, I take it.

There are those that say some of them belong to me, though I hold claim over none.

[They just happen to work really well with his genjutsu, is all. The occasional time he spends feeding them crumbs doesn't hurt either.

Itachi only has one eye that works at all, though "works" may be too strong a word. Turning his head toward his brother is more of a formality than anything. Both eyes remain dark.]

They are good creatures, either way.

[Their presence in the shrine is due to the woman that runs it, not him. It's just another reason to visit.]

like he ever does anything else

I dunno, if they were all that smart, they'd get used for messengers or stuff, right? But no one does that.

[Still, though, animals in Luceti are kind of weird. Who knows? Maybe they just really are that different here.

And Sasuke totally looks like he'd do well in a circus. Maybe he's a bit too scowly, but he's also really pretty -- great for drawing in crowds.]

You'd do so good, though! I mean, a cute guy like you, you'd have everyone wanting to watch you do something with the birds, or... hmm, what about knife-throwing? That'd be another good one!

[It may be one eye, and a barely working one, but Sasuke can feel Itachi's gaze all the same, turns to meet it. ...Well. "Meet" it, more like, and that pangs something else inside his chest. His smile falters just for a moment. He's not sure he'll ever get used to that... but. He has Itachi here. They have some kind of understanding. He'll take the price that costs, for now.]

Anyone who thinks a bird ever belongs to anyone doesn't know a thing about them.

[Even as he speaks, he ruffles the neck feathers of another crow that's hopped close, and it takes up its own purchase on Sasuke's thigh.]

It's a good omen, though, isn't it? To have them at a shrine.

[Itachi nods his head once. Though here it's difficult to take anything as a true omen, he'll accept that for now. Sasuke has returned. He's not hiding away from everyone, isn't ignoring him. That's enough.]

Hey, pretty much everything I haven't heard of falls into one of those three categories lately, so I think you're safe in staying fascinating. [His own grip is warm and easy, pretty much like his manner as he takes a moment to catch his breath.]
