Third time's the charm? Maybe? God, I have the worst headache.

For anyone wondering, no changes in my timeline or even location. That's all pretty much exaaactly the same. Is anyone really surprised?

[ She clears her throat. ] So. How about a roll call?

[ ... with some sheepishness: ] Tony? Can I have my things back? ... again?

Aaand for those not familiar with my voice: Hi. My name is Jane Foster, and I'm a scientist. Sooome of you might remember me from a certain failed experiment. [ There's a wince in her voice. ] We're ... gonna be a little bit more careful about experimental procedure, this time. You know. Like, a lot more. Assuming anything like that ever happens again, whiiiich... it probably won't? I guess you never know.

Okay, I'm gonna stop now. So, um. Yeah. Hi guys.

Good to see you too. I mean, sorry that you're stuck here, but- you know.

[ Jane puffs out a long breath through mostly closed lips. Pffffff. She steps back to hold Billy at arms' length, hands on his shoulders, and smiles a crooked and knowing smile at him. ]

"Stuck here" is a pretty relative descriptor. I prefer... extended, mandatory sort-of-but-not-really-a vacation. [ One corner of her mouth quirks, and she lets him go. ]

Please let's get back to the village, I'm freezing! I'd kill for a good pair of boots right about now.

[Look at how cute and adult he looks d'awwww he's even changed his hair ~~okay so it wasn't even that long ago but hush~~]

Haha, okay, sorry! One quick trip to the shopping center, coming up.

[He's assuming that's what she meant, anyway. And unless she stops him, he'll be zapping them right into the clothing shop so she can get something decent and warm to wear.]

[ The hair is pretty cute. Cute enough that she might have to muss it up later like any good big sister ought to do.

Jane heaves a sigh of relief once they're indoors and immediately zips over to the clothing racks. ]

Thank you. God, do they have to stick me in this awful dress every single time? Would it really kill them to send people off with even a pair of flip-flops? Not to mention it's totally ridiculous to even separate the New Feather outfits by gender anyway, I think pretty much everyone would prefer a nice, solid, warm pair of pants--

[ Ramble ramble. She starts pulling things out at random - jeans, tennis shoes, a few tops, a jacket - and builds a small pile in her arms.

Then she stops herself mid-sentence and turns to give Billy a vaguely concerned look. ] ... Billy, how long was I gone?

Um. [He fidgets a bit, feeling suddenly awkward, glancing aside. This part never really gets easier, especially when it hasn't even been that long for the other person.] It's... been about three months. Not that bad, right?

[Could be a lot more weird, that's for sure. Tony was gone for like a week and it'd been a year or so back in his world, or something like that.]

[ Jane breathes in;

and Jane breathes out, nodding slowly. ] Okay. Okay. It could have been worse. [ She nods again, more rapidly. ] Definitely could have... you know.

[ She looks at him with half a smile, rueful. ] Let me go get changed. Then, if you're up to it, maybe we can talk about what I've missed? I'll be back in a minute. [ She heads into the back of the shop to go get gussied up. ]

Trust me, I'm not going anywhere.

[And he means it, too- he wouldn't miss this for the world. He wanders around the shop a bit and sifts through the racks for anything that pings him. Shockingly he's been getting into fashion more lately, or what little of it he can gather so far from Earth, anyway.

Either way he'll be around when she comes out.]

[ She's quick about this sort of thing. At most five minutes go by before she's back out on the floor, bundled up in her usual sort of outfit, only with a poofy vest added to the mix. Never let it be said that Jane Foster has a great sense of fashion. (Quite the opposite.)

When she returns, she watches Billy for a moment, quietly. Just ... watching. It occurs to her all at once how nice it is to be able to see him at all. Gently: ]

You know, you look a little different from ... before.

[ She carefully does not say "the last time I saw you." Because that day was far longer than just three months ago. ]

[He glances over his shoulder at her voice, caught off guard by her quickness. It doesn't last long, though; he smiles faintly, scuffing bashfully at the back of his neck. He has changed a fair bit, and once she says it he remembers that she was blind long before she went home. It really has been a while.]

Good different, or...?

.... cute different. [ She laughs quietly as she comes over, lifting a hand to sort of -- fluff at his hair, a little. ] I like it.

[He quirks a grin, automatically lifting a hand to fix it if it needs it, though it's unlikely. His hair tends to have a mind of its own even when it's gelled.]

Um, thanks. I just figured it was time for a change, you know? I've been thinking about doing something new for a while now.

It suits you. Come on. [ She tilts her head towards the door. ] Why don't we honor tradition and get a bite to eat?

I'm in. I don't think I even have any bad news for you, so it'll be a stress-free lunch. Seventh Heaven?
