Test Flight!
Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!
▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).
Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:
o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.
Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.
Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.
LET'S DO IT TO IT
Is Lea having traumatic flashbacks to a certain blonde sociopath he once knew? Maybe he is. ]
M-Me alright? - I mean, what the hell, "you alright?" What kind of lunatic does weapons training in a public area?
[ Alright, alright, she's clearly some sort of ridiculous young ninja prodigy, like that Kisaragi girl back home. Probably not a sadist or murderer, just young and cocky with just that special touch of "i'm-young-and-therefore-immortal." Ah, yeah, Lea was young and immortal once.
Lea coughs and stands suddenly out of his defensive crouch, blows on his fingers as if to warm them, rubs the back of his neck. Way to make a suave and capable first impression, just because he didn't expect all the fighty-fighty to have made it out here. ]
A-anyway. Whatever, it's fine. Wouldn't be the first time I've been hit with sharp projectiles.
no subject
She's unimpressed with this guy's posturing though, rolling her eyes and resting a hand on her hip, flicking her other hand (empty this time) into the air as if to physically offer him a point.]
Oh, I dunno, the kind've lunatic who wants to train in all weather conditions? What kind've lunatic wanders around without keeping an eye out for sharp projectiles?
[Really, good thing he avoided her throw, else she'd have been scolding him while bandaging him for being so dumb. Since it would definitely be his fault.
But fine, she'll be polite, flicking her hand again as if to dismiss that topic, too.]
Anyway, sorry about that. 'Least you didn't get totally covered in snow.
yes her haircut reminds him of mickey mouse
Snow's soft. Not like knives.
[ Lea lifts his head to emphasize his height and age, and squints down at the maniac girl. Tries to match her to a general physical profile of any world he's ever been to. Pale skin, round face, dark eyes, dark hair (for some reason, her haircut is reminding him of someone...) ]
So, you take combat training pretty seriously. You in the army or something? [ Land of Dragons? She looks like a Land of Dragons type. Does it count as upsetting world order to ask about her homeworld if she's already been relocated to another world? Not that Lea would usually care, but given he's a Keyblade wielder now, and committed to a Side in this dumb second Keyblade War, he should probably not do something that would make it worse for the good guys. Like disturb the balance of the universe if he can help it. ]
wow not sure if rude or if that makes her like royalty
But then the question about the army makes her pause, brow furrowing as she genuinely has to consider that. The Shinobi Alliance is certainly an army, but even with everything they've gone through together, there's no denying that her first loyalty is always going to be to her village. It's attitudes like that that would be the ruin of the alliance itself, but as it stands, she'd sooner protect a comrade than a foreigner.
Finally, she settles on a neutral,] Kind of. Why'd you ask?
it makes her fuckin fabulous that's what
Well, uh. [ Let's think about this: most everyone here has been yanked from their homeworld, and everyone can communicate with each other, so it can prooobably be considered common knowledge that there are multiple worlds within the universal structure. Lea will proooobably not get in trouble for ditching the usual mealy-mouthed avoidance of the subject. Okay, ass covered. For now. ]
Trying to guess what world you're from. I mean, you know. [ He gestures around him, his breath ghosting in the air. ] We're all a long way from home and you've probably figured out "home" means different things to different people, right?
get her a keyblade she'll be a fuckin boss, just off-screen only
[But maybe that's getting too close to the philosophical, and she has no interest getting into that debate with a total stranger. Instead, her hand shifts as if she might point to her forehead protector, only belatedly realizing that she doesn't have the Konoha one with her. She'd only brought the shinobi forehead protector, the single character 'to endure' engraved on metal, and that's the only one this place had seen fit to return to her.]
...Konoha, [she answers finally, relaxing the hand she'd been about to reach up with and just clasping it more tightly behind her back.] The Village Hidden in the Leaves, in the Land of Fire. Ever heard of it?
no subject
[ He shrugs, and points to himself with a thumb. ] My world used to be called the Radiant Garden, but. [ His face turns melancholy. ] Well, that was back before all the... yeah... [ Lea shakes himself, laughs ruefully. ]
You know, I don't even know what they call it now. Haven't lived there in so long. [ Because waking up sprawled on the floor, picking through rooms choked with dust and half-demolished, calling out the names of people who were gone, gone gone gone without even the decency to haunt old walks - well, that hardly counts as a visit home. Waking up to find everything old and broken, all your friends gone, and no one remembers you anymore - kind of like something out of an old fairy tale, isn't it? ]
no subject
[That makes her pause more than anything, nearly slipping and losing her balance against the ice before managing to catch herself, digging her toe in to stop moving. That sounds ominous, and from the way he's talking, it doesn't sound like this place was the first time he'd encountered people from other worlds.
She might not be Neji, born with the power of insight, but she's not wholly unobservant, either. Her arms cross over her chest as she studies him, less clinically than before, but still a hard stare. After Pain's attack, returning home to find the village just gone... She could understand, maybe.
But she couldn't tell one way or another, but just in case, she wasn't insensitive enough to ask why he hadn't gone back. All signs point to it being impossible right now, anyway.]
Sounds like a nice place, [she added instead with a bit of a one-shouldered shrug.] Got any friends from back there here?
im gonna say he hasn't met any castmates yet for obv reasons
[ He rolls his neck back with a few muted pops, rolls his shoulders as well, breathes in, and sighs a long plume of steam, tugs his scarf down because suddenly jumping around has his heart rate up a little and now he feels a bit warmer. This is an undesirable conversation track.
Lea puts on his best cocky grin, puffs his chest out and points to himself with a thumb. ] Can't believe I haven't introduced myself yet. The name's Lea. [ He leans in and taps his temple with one finger, an old and practiced gesture. ] Got it memorized?
ok
But it doesn't really matter here, though her eyebrows quirk.] Lee? [she repeats, pushing off with one foot to skate backwards.] You don't look like a Lee.
[Bright red hair, (more of a) fashion sense, no eyebrows... definitely nothing like Rock Lee.]
big dumb baby
Wh- What do you mean, I don't look like a Lea? It's my name!
[ Is that a note of...defensiveness? Lea's face is just a touch redder than it was from the cold, and one hand goes to touch lightly on a spot high on his cheekbone, unconsciously. ]
no subject
[She's laughing a little, not really getting how defensive this Lee is of it.]
You ever seen the guy running around in green spandex and a bowl cut? [She holds her own hands up as if to approximate Rock Lee's distinctive haircut.] That's my teammate, Rock Lee.
squeals
Ah - oh, I haven't met the guy. [ Lea scratches his cheek, sheepish. Didn't realize she knows another Lea. Haha, awkward. ] Sounds like he stands out in a crowd, though.
adorable
[She laughs again, oblivious to his awkwardness. The thought of this guy in bright green spandex was pretty hilarious though, though she doubted that hair of his could be tamed into a bowl.]
But yeah, you don't look a thing like him. Maybe that's a good thing.
no subject
So he's your teammate, huh? And he does laps on his hands... [ Lea scrutinizes... the girl (geez, he got so wrapped up in the name thing that he only just realized she didn't tell him hers in return). ] And you're a ranged weapons gal. What do you even do? Did the Heartless make it to your world, or what?
no subject
But her brow furrows at the unfamiliar word. Sure, she can understand the meaning, but it doesn't exactly make sense outside of context.]
Heartless? [she repeats, cocking her head and blinking at him.] I don't think so. What're those?
no subject
Right, so. The Heartless. They're creatures of darkness, basically. They come in all shapes and sizes, but they all want the same thing: [ he unfolds his arms to casually point to a spot on Tenten's chest ] Your heart.
Under normal circumstances, you'd get like, I-dunno, a handful of natural-born Heartless in any world at a time? They're born out of the darkness in people's hearts, so they'll never actually be eradicated, or whatever. Under normal circumstances.
[ For a moment, he debates over whether to elaborate on why circumstances aren't normal anymore, but that seems like a really long and slightly self-incriminating story. ]
Basically right now, the worlds are kind of in crisis, and there are loooooads more Heartless than there should be. Which is why I said the "worlds went under," earlier. The worst was a year ago.
[ Well, that's not quite right. Yeah, getting to the point of nearly all the worlds being covered by darkness or destroyed or banished to the Realm of Sleep was bad.
But now Lea knows the worst is still to come. ]
no subject
So what you're saying is that your world, and others like it, are being taken over by these Heartless? [She frowns, trying to imagine that. Trying to imagine an entire world being taken over, when at home, the shinobi of the five nations were fighting so hard just to preserve their own.] Didn't people unite to fight them?
no subject
Do you think they didn't? If you can't do any magic and you don't have a weapon with even basic enchantments, you can't touch them. Even if you kill one, unless you're a Keyblade user, you've only temporarily destroyed it; it'll be back. Physical barriers mean nothing to them.
[ He exhales a long sigh, a cloud of steam in the cold air. ]
And it's not like some orderly invasion. We're not talking, like, about a war. More like an infestation. A disease. Those things just swarm and swarm and steal the hearts of anyone who gets in their way.
They catch you, you become one of them.
[ Even though Lea's posture is casual, his voice matter-of-fact, his eyes are distant, veiled. ]
no subject
[It takes until he describes it as a disease that she really gets it, though, crossing her arms and starting to tap a foot against the ice. Starting to because as soon as she remembered she was on ice and not solid ground (or water), she put a stop to that immediately lest she lose her balance. Now isn't the time.
That doesn't mean she won't draw a single kunai just to flick into the air and catch, more as a gesture to help her think than anything else.]
If the worst was a year ago, though, you must've found some way to fight them?
no subject
Not on a wide scale. More like, someone bumped off the biggest one and that killed enough of them back to make them more manageable. [ Explaining much more than that will take a long time. And run back into that long, self-incriminating story. Whoops. ] It's a complicated kind of thing.
So if you don't know, then I guess you aren't training to fight Heartless. Which brings me back: [ he pointedly refocuses his attention to the knife, after his eyes had drifted to the girl while he spoke to her: ] You in the army, or something?
no subject
She follows his gaze to the kunai instead, giving it a final, careless toss before hurling it forward toward one of the other targets along the shore. The force from the throw sends her skating slightly back until she catches her own momentum against the ice.]
Kind've, [she answers with a bit of a shrug.] Usually I'm not, but we were at war when I left. [Got taken, kidnapped, disappeared, etc. Word of choice, really.
If the world made any kind of sense here, he should already know what she is from the forehead protector alone, the one marked with the sign for shinobi. It's usually apparent enough that she doesn't really think twice before admitting,] I'm a ninja.
no subject
So maniac girl's come from a war. (Lea would think to himself that she looks too young, but then again, she looks to be the same age as Roxas, as Riku and Sora and Kairi, and they've all been dragged into their own war.) Maybe maniac girl's war is related to the Heartless and the growing darkness, maybe coincidentally not. ]
S'that so... [ He scratches his head. ] Good luck with that, kid.
By the way, what is your name, anyway?
no subject
Faster than blinking, another knife is in her hand, being flipped up and down, up and down, quicker than before to give her something to focus on, something to drown out the idea that had Neji been on her side of the battlefield, that would never have happened.
Her face contorts a bit, a little shadowed, a little tired. Then almost as quickly as it appears, she forces with away with a quick smile.] Thanks. The name's Tenten though, not kid, so you'd better remember that.
[Quick, time to lighten up the conversation again, something to keep him from asking about the war. What was it he'd said a few minutes ago?]
Got it memorized?
no subject
He only offers a wry grin. ]
I'll be sure to memorize that one. Tenten.
