Test Flight Meme
Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!
▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).
Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:
o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.
Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.
Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[he closes the distance between them when Farlan stops, but still cautious, like he's not quite sure he's believing what he's seeing. The Malnosso like to play tricks, and Levi is determined not to fall for this one.
He surveys all of the supplies Farlan has accumulated, not surprised. They'd come from the same place, their instincts are very similar: stock up food, because you never know when something might happen to take it away.]
Where are you staying?
no subject
Oh, I'm fine. It's not so bad here, really...
[It's better than the slums, in a lot of ways. Not that's he's exactly crazy about the kidnapping thing. It's not perfect, but it could be worse.]
You have? How long? Isabel's not here, is she?
[He glances over his shoulder as if he half expects to see her, but she's nowhere to be found. He turns back to Levi, studying his face. He knows him well, and now that he's closer to him, he's able to tell what's bothering him about this, or part of what's bothering him, and he doesn't answer Levi's question right away.
You look--different.
[He looks older, somehow. It's weird.]
no subject
No, I haven't seen her.
[He picks up one of the bags Farlan has put down, shouldering another one. No, he doesn't have to steal here. In fact, provided there's no draft and Farlan stays away from missions, the only thing he has to worry about is the Shifts - which, admittedly, could be quite a lot to worry about on their own. Still, at least it's not scraping for survival, and the titans are absent. This could turn out a lot better than Farlan's other option.
Well, life over death is generally preferred, but Levi won't make that call for anyone.
He stiffens a bit at that observation. He is different, but it's not just in looks.]
...is that so?
You didn't answer my question. Where are you staying?
no subject
[It's a logical assumption, considering that they're almost always together, but this isn't exactly a logical situation.]
Yeah, you do.
[Farlan's observant, especially where people he knows are concerned, and he's still getting a feeling that there's something very off. He frowns.]
What's wrong?
[Aside from the obvious, that is, that being this whole place.]
Oh, they gave me some kind of apartment. In a--Heart Building? It's quiet. It's not bad.
[It's a lot nicer than anywhere else he's lived, but he's not used to being on his own, and it's weird. But then, what isn't weird around here? Even Levi is, at the moment. Farlan regards him warily.]
sobbing so much right now ugh
Levi is older - five years older, in fact. The lines in his face are deeper, his demeanor tamer, less intense and more thoughtful. He's seen too many horrors and lost too many people. It shouldn't be a surprise that Farlan can see all of these things in him, especially compared to how he was all of those years ago.
Heart. That's clear on the other side of the village from his own residence.]
...it's been a while since I've seen you, that's all.
[a pause as he readjusts one of the bags, not quite looking at Farlan now.] I'm in the Flame building. They're on opposite sides of the village from one another.
same
[But if Levi really is older, then maybe that makes sense. Time travel isn't something he's conversant with, so it's hard for him to wrap his head around the concept. Regardless, the words strike him as grim, and he glances at the ground. When they spend so much of their time together, what does it mean if Levi hasn't seen him in a while?]
This is one of those weird things I heard about, isn't it?
[He keeps frowning, because he doesn't like it. Levi looks so changed, and there's so much he doesn't know about the reasons why. Not only does he seem older, but quieter. Grim--okay, he'd always been grim, but more grim.]
Well, it's not like I have to stay there. I can go wherever I want, right? Within reason.
no subject
['Us' being him and Erwin, though Levi doesn't quite specify that yet. Farlan will find out inevitably, of course, but Levi's not volunteering the information quite yet.
He walks in the direction of Heart, trying to sort out this strange mix of relief, surprise, and concern that's swirling in him at Farlan's arrival. Levi had accepted his death long ago, but now to have him suddenly here and alive...and apparently not even aware that he's supposed to be dead - that's another thing he's not going to volunteer, but he's not sure how long he can keep that secret.
But he frowns (more).]
What "weird things" are you talking about?
[there's a lot of 'weird things' in Luceti, as far as Levi is concerned. Farlan will have to be a little more specific.]
no subject
[He nods, his decision casual, natural. It only makes sense to him, to be closer to Levi, so of course that's what he'll do. He follows him; it doesn't occur to him to do otherwise. He doesn't question the "we" yet, even though Levi said Isabel isn't here. He falls into step with Levi easily. He's used to doing so. He feels more at ease now that he's with him, even though he's different and acting strangely.
He's still Levi.]
I mean--I heard a lot of things from people when I got here, and they talked about magic and different worlds and times and things like that. Things I never heard about before.
[The scope of his knowledge has always been limited. You don't exactly get a lot of books in the slums--and even so, who talks about other worlds and other times seriously? Maybe in a story for little kids.]
Really weird... I don't know what to make of it, honestly. Nothing makes any sense. Even this food. I don't trust any of it.
[Who would trust free food and lodging? Not Farlan, that's for sure.]
no subject
[which is why he stockpiles it, just as Farlan does. But they don't have any other choice for where the food comes from unless they want to cultivate it themselves. The Survey Corps had kept a handful of gardens where possible for fresh vegetables, but most of their rations had still come from other places inside the walls.]
You get used to it. Everyone's got a different story about how their weird shit works, but some of it we can learn and make it useful. There are these spirits here that supposedly teach magic, though a lot of people come with their own power.
[powers that far outclass theirs, even at supposedly half their normal capacity. For people with no especial powers or abilities but their own raw physical strength, it was an incredibly sobering thing for Levi to learn about - and experience.]
So we have to do what we can to either learn it ourselves, or ally with stronger people.
no subject
[Levi's not credulous, or too trusting. Farlan expects no less from him. It's true that he can be rash, but--actually, he's not entirely sure of what to make of Levi right now, and that disorients him, almost more than anything else here has.]
I'm going to learn this magic, if I can. Not that I know much about it yet.
[If he sounds determined, it's because he is. He might not fully understand the situation, but he means to do whatever he can to adapt to it and survive. In some ways, at least on the surface, it's less grim than home.]
And that's what I was thinking, that it's important to form as many alliances as we can. Not that we shouldn't be careful, too. [Forming the wrong alliances could also be a problem.] Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it.
no subject
And yet, Levi hadn't wanted him to have his hands stained. They've done terrible things, but if they were going to go after an up and coming in the Survey Corps, he'd wanted to be the only one who took the fall for it.
Funny how plans end up changing.]
Thanks.
no subject
[Sometimes he has to keep Levi in line--for his own good, but there's no one he admires more. He wouldn't follow anyone he didn't admire.
He's still not sure what Levi meant by not having seen him in a while. There's an ominousness to that thought.]
So--what's the situation? Specifically, I mean. For us.
[He should know where they stand if he's going to know how to progress.]
no subject
Right now there's a handful of Survey Corps here. A set of gear will hopefully arrive for you soon.
Compared to what we know, this place is peaceful, though there's the threat of being drafted into a war on behalf of the Malnosso that captured us.
no subject
[He doesn't like the idea of a war, and his lips twist.]
What kind of war? I wouldn't say that sounds peaceful. Sort of the opposite. Like a fake peace.
[He might press Levi about what's wrong, but honestly, he's a little worried about what Levi might say. He looks so grim.]
no subject
[it's also good that they have their weapons in the event the other residents they're trapped here with become hostile. Although even learning magic, Levi knows there are people her whose power vastly outweighs their own. Luckily they appear to be willing allies - for now, at least.]
I don't really know. Every now and then there's supposed to be a draft. There hasn't been one since I've been here, but there might be one soon. People can also volunteer to go on missions in exchange for rewards.
[He looks over at Farlan. They've both been fighting their whole lives, but Farlan doesn't have to, here, if he doesn't want. Before it had been for survival, but that isn't exactly necessary here. He doesn't want him to be complacent, but on the other hand, if he doesn't have to be in a battle, then maybe he shouldn't be.
But Levi will let Farlan decide that, ultimately.]
For now there's no reason to fight if you don't want to.
no subject
[He never really wanted, to, as in, if offered the choice of "Hey Farlan, what would you do if you could do anything?" it would never be fighting, whether that meant was fighting other criminals, or the MP, or Titans. Who wanted to do that? All right, probably some people, but not Farlan.]
But I will. If I have to. It doesn't seem like I have a choice, if I get drafted.
That's something I've never experienced before.
[Farlan's sarcasm is never particularly subtle.]
no subject
[he'll have to do more consulting on that, but if it kept Farlan out of it, Levi has no problem going through the trouble of tracking down that information. Before it wasn't necessary - Jean and Marco were in the Survey Corps by choice. Farlan, however, had never truly wanted to be there.
Neither had Levi, for that matter, but things are different for him, now.]
no subject
[He looks hopeful for a moment. He can fight, and fight well, but sometimes he wishes-- No, there's no point in wishing he doesn't have to fight, because that's the way things are.
He shrugs, with a sigh. Sure, he'd rather get out of it, but...]
No, it's okay. You're not going to get out of it, are you? I'll fight if you do. Although--I'll get out of it if you do, too, believe me.
no subject
[if no one could escape the draft at all, it would still help to have experienced fighters stay with the non-combatants. In all honesty, despite all of the training they've been going through to expand their skills, Levi isn't sure that they won't be entirely wiped out in minutes. They've no special powers or abilities - while he's learning to heal, offensive magic is coming much more slowly, and it's still no where near as powerful as people from worlds born with it.]
I will be wherever I'm needed.
[Specifically, wherever Erwin needs him to be.]
