Test Flight Meme

the luceti test flight meme

Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[ ...Right. They'd all learned the salute opening day of trainees' camp, or did laps until they got it right. Eren narrows his eyes, head canting into a slight, disbelieving tilt. Was this guy drunk in uniform or something? Sloppy.

A frown pricks at the corners of his mouth, slowly letting his hand fall back to his wing.
]

I'm not sure— [ May as well be honest. ] —but I think they'll get better.

[ In fact, they'd been taking their sweet time, but there's finally small wafts of steam lifting off some of the deeper tears. Like the edges are cauterizing shut. The feathers aren't growing back, but it's better than nothing—Eren shifts, looking Farlan over and trying to adjust his wings behind him with mixed success. ] You in the Survey Corps, or d'you just find those clothes somewhere?

[No, he's not drunk! How's he supposed to know the dumb salute? He's just doing it to avoid trouble, anyway.

He's more curious and confused than alarmed by what Eren's wings do. He's never seen a Titan before. He hasn't been outside of the slums until recently.
]

They do look better. How did you do that?

[It's interesting. He has heard about weird healing powers here, so this could be something like that. He wants to be able to do that. It looks useful.]

Yes, I'm in the Survey Corps. I just joined.

[Or was conscripted. Whichever.]

[ Yeah okay, given that his own graduating class just got inducted a month ago and people weren't exactly chomping at the bit to randomly join, this seems highly suspect. Eren looks at him a little flatly, tone teetering between skeptical and flat-out annoyed. He skims over his question because he's tactful like that. ]

I don't recognize you. [ ... ] And you don't know who I am.

[ He's not being arrogant; the military as a whole pretty much knew about his existence, and the 300-some Corpsmen that much more so. It's not really attention he appreciates, but it means this guy really wasn't making much of a case for himself.

He stands up, rolling his shoulder with a sharp look.
]

What's your name?
forelocked: (seven)

[personal profile] forelocked 2014-02-25 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm Farlan Church. I think everyone in the Corps was there when we got introduced.

[It had looked like it, when they'd stood up in front of everyone and offered their names. In a small way, his situation is similar to Eren's--in that everyone in the Corps at least knows of his existence. Although he doesn't consider himself that important to the Corps, and most of the other soldiers are primarily irritated about criminals being allowed in. Farlan's irritated by being forced in, himself.

He'd think this person would at least understand the reference to someone new joining, but he knows about the strange time things that cause headaches, if only vaguely. He still doesn't quite get them, not entirely, but he does understand that things are different here. Unreliable. Bizarre.
]

Should I know who you are?

[He's met some of the other members, but he doesn't know a lot of them yet.]

[ The name doesn't ring any bells, but it's a little outrageous for a lie. Maybe it'd been just before the 104 showed up or something. There's a lot of crazy shit happening right now, and he's going to have to adjust or get swept away in it all.

He still speaks sternly, eyes a little too critical, too suspecting—but he tries to town himself down. That's what he owes his fellow soldiers, even if they don't know each other.
]

Eren Yeager. [ a half beat, then: ] If that doesn't mean anything to you, it's fine.

[ Kind of nice, really. That said, Farlan still earns himself a Look. ]

You don't have to know who I am, but you should really know the salute by now. That was embarrassing.

It doesn't.

[He's not sure why it's supposed to, but he's more curious than anything else--well, yes, he's wary, but he'd really like to know. It's common sense to learn as much as you can, especially if you don't know much about where you are. There's still a lot he doesn't know about this place and the people here.]

Why would I know you?

[He looks like a regular soldier to Farlan. True, there was the trick with the wings, but he'd thought that might be one of those "magic" things he's heard about, which supposedly happen in Luceti.]

By now? Like I told you, I just joined. Oh--right, you don't know. I didn't do any of that training stuff. When I say I joined, I wasn't in the army at all before.
