Those of you who pay attention to his carving will notice that he is very slow and precise, careful of the nicks he makes in the wood. Exactly what he's carving is hard to determine, only that it's very small and flat.]

[His humming stops, and he chuckles, examining his work.]

Good afternoon!

I must say, this library is quite small. It's barely the size of the one in Gold Crown Town.

But do you know, I can't even remember the last time I was able to properly visit a library! It's very difficult to keep up with the latest releases when you're dead.

Under the circumstances, I would appreciate some recommendations. The more tragic, the better!

[That voice was hard to ignore. As if his appearance wasn't enough to stand out. That tune he was humming. It had to be him but... That meant that Drosselmeyer was new here now... Without Fakir here to counter his stories, she just hoped that things wouldn't turn sour.]

[Drosselmeyer blinks and looks this way and that way before spotting Duck, whereupon his grin gets wider. There are nutcrackers with less teeth.]

[He sets aside his carving for the moment, keeping his eyes on her. She certainly looks different from the last time he saw her, and it's not hard to guess why.]

It seems you've returned to being a human girl. Did you tire of being a duck and reclaim part of the Prince's heart?

N-No! I... I was prepared to live the rest of my life as a duck, but then I found the pendent here when I arrived...

[She doesn't need that reminder. Never mind telling him that Mytho's heart shards aren't returned completely anymore or that she can turn into Princess Tutu.]

Oh dear! Then something terrible must have happened to the Prince!

No! It's not pointless! I've found a few of his heart shards and I'll find the rest of them again!

[But with Fakir not here.... the end result is what worried her.]

No, no, that makes it almost exactly the same as before!

[Drosselmeyer folds his arms.]

Telling the exact same story would be simply dull! Surely you can do better than that.

But it's not the same story this time....

[Not with how things have happened thus far anyways.]

Well there are the wings, but... No, it needs more of a twist. Thank goodness I've arrived!

[Drosselmeyer's wings, for the record, are hidden under his voluminous cloak and vest.]

I'm sure I can make things more interesting!

[He beams at Duck, then suddenly bursts into maniacal laughter.]

[Ughh.... No more twists!]

I'm sure you could, but it doesn't need to be....

[Oh, the possibilities are endless! And a new location with a new cast of characters... the genre's different from what Drosselmeyer's used to, but surely he can change things to be more to his liking.]

Of course it needs to be! Nobody wants a boring story, after all!

[She can already tell this is going to be pain in the butt with him around now.]

I don't think we need anymore of your stories.

[One can only hope that Luceti, and the efforts of Duck, will be able to keep him in check.]
