Would someone be willing to show me the ways of the washer? I'm afraid I'm not having much luck with it, and I'd rather get things figured out properly before we come to blows. I'd be most appreciative of any kind of help you can lend.

Consider that lesson number one. Shoes and washers having nothing to do with each other.

But you must wash your shoes. [They ought to look just as presentable as the rest of your clothing, after all.] Are they not suited for the washer, then?
