Test Flight Meme
Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!
▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).
Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:
o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for music? Try playing DJ at HQ, the new nightclub! Don't have one? Just dance your butt off.
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.
Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.
Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

Special armor? So it's not just leather saddles?
[He reaches around and pulls his field guide out of his pack, already jotting down notes like the nerd he is.
Also it's twenty questions time, sorry.]
Messengers of-- wait, what? You have dragons that can speak human languages? That's-- that's incredible! How did they learn? Are they more intelligent than the transportation dragons? What gives them the ability when other dragons can't? What are they like?

He does hesitate at Hiccup's question, though. How to describe the fyulong? He's never technically met one; he has vague and dreamlike memories of being one, and memories of how Teito described them. And that's a little personal to delve into with a stranger.
Otherwise, all he's got is legend, really. Legend and stories.]
I've never seen or met one personally, but... my best friend did. He said she spoke to him, that she knew the name of the man he traveled with and the true reason for his journey. Apparently they have more knowledge about the world than even humans do, and they're ancient, and they can speak directly into someone's mind. They mostly keep to themselves, which is why they're so rare.

[Toothless leans into the scritches, crooning. His eyes widen and he freezes up for a second, only to go completely limp and flop down with his head halfway in Mikage's lap.
Hiccup looks up from his journal. He chuckles a bit, moving to sit beside Mikage and help with the pettings.]
Looks like you found his sweet spot. You're pretty good at this.

[Mikage looks so pleased he could melt, happily stroking the scales under the dragon's chin. He's heavy, sure, but not unpleasantly so.]
So what kind of dragon is this guy? I've never seen one like him.
no subject
[He strokes the top of Toothless' head. The dragon is practically dying from all the attention. Hiccup gives him plenty of attention of course, but Toothless is kind of greedy when it comes to pets... if it isn't obvious.]
Toothless is a Night Fury. No one had ever seen one up close until I... er, I met him. [He gently pets a frill.] I'm... still looking for his family.
no subject
[Mikage smiles softly; that's something he can definitely understand.]
But at least he has you now, right? And that's pretty cool, to make friends with a dragon nobody else has!
no subject
[He gives the dragon a nice scritch. Toothless is pretty much in reptile heaven right now, to the point where his tongue is lolling out into Hiccup's lap.
Ew.]
You-- you think it's cool? [Judging by Hiccup's expression, he's both embarrassed and also a little needy for approval from his peers. It's a thing.]
no subject
Thankfully, Hiccup's got him covered.]
It's definitely cool. Don't you think so? I mean- I back home I never even had my own dragon, at the academy we all just picked whatever hawkzile was available. And they were pretty aggressive because they're raised like soldiers, so you could never do anything like this with them! But you've got yourself a unique dragon that totally loves people... you've done something amazing.

[Hiccup the Dragon Rights Activist.]
no subject
I don't know all the details, sorry. All I've ever done is ride them. They're not very friendly though, so... I don't think they'd make great pets. Even in the wild dragons can be pretty dangerous.
no subject
[He lets out a breath. This wasn't like going out and killing them.]
So, I guess I'd have to meet one. And we know that's not going to happen.
[He looks at Toothless, who trills curiously and blinks back. Without saying anything, he pets the dragon's face and tries not to think about Toothless in chains.]
no subject
[Seeing Hiccup and Toothless together, he knows it isn't better. But he can't help feeling a little defensive of his home. The dragons don't get abused, so isn't that good enough?
He deflates a little, though, watching the dragon. It really isn't the same.]
It's not impossible for you to meet one, though. There's a Wendi Skyrunner in Luceti right now.
[Now he's wondering how Isabelle and Toothless would get along, actually.]
no subject
His eyes widen at the offer.]
There is? Could-- could I see it? And Toothless, too. It's been a while since he saw another dragon.
no subject
[He shrugs. It was a long, long time ago, so it's no wonder.]
Anyway, we'll have to ask Richard. I think he'd say yes? It would be good for Isabelle, anyway. She's been away from other dragons for a long time too.
no subject
[He smiles and turns to Toothless, hands on either side of his round head.]
You hear that, bud? We get to see a new dragon!
[The Night Fury churrs and bumps into Hiccup, knocking him back into the sand.]
Oh, great. I love getting sand literally everywhere.
no subject
She's back in town. As soon as I track Richard down I'll let you know.
