[Dagger is sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air. As she sits her fingers brush the "voice" option on her journal. Her voice is heard singing a song softly to herself. When she finishes she realizes what she did]

I apologize if I bothered anyone. I sing that song sometimes when I'm feeling lost or confused. It's soothing for me and makes me feel calmer.

In that case, I will be happy to continue. [and so she does, singing the song into the journal]

[And Stephen listens in appreciative silence, making note of the melody. A lovely air, simple enough.]

Thank you. It was a song from my childhood. Not many people know of it.

I find those songs-- the mostly unknown-- are the kind that ought to be passed around the most, so that they are not wholly forgotten.

I would never want this song to be forgotten.

Do you think so? I've never thought about it...

I'm sure of it. Does the song have a name?

I don't think so. It's just something I remember from childhood.

[voice]

I think those are the best kinds of songs. [He kind of wished he remembered more things like that. Oh well.] Um, would you mind if I learned to play your song on my flute?

[voice]

[losthorn]

Not at all. Perhaps you can come outside and sit with me?

[voice]

O-oh, sure! I'll be there right away. Where are you?

[voice]

[losthorn]

[insert location here] I am the dark-haired girl.

[unblessed]

All right. I'll be there soon.

[He says this in a confident voice before closing the journal and heading out. It'll be a few minutes before he gets there, but he keeps an eye out for the dark-haired girl. When he spots her, he approaches tentatively.]

Um, are you...?

[...this is a little embarrassing. He should've asked for her name, there are lots of dark-haired girls in Luceti!]

[she probably should've described her wing colors instead, as they're a bit more distinctive. She just hasn't gotten used to mentioning them yet]

Hello. You're the one I spoke with earlier, right? I'm Dagger.

That's right. [He nods, straightening up a little.] My name's Capell. It's nice to meet you, Dagger. I hope you weren't waiting long...

[He was finally getting the hang of this place!]

Not at all. I've just been enjoying the pleasant weather.

It's nice out, isn't it? The breeze is even better a night. It's very soothing.

[losthorn]

That sounds lovely.

It really is. I think it might be one of the nicest things about this place. [When he says that, though, he wonders about something.] Have you been here long, Dagger?

[losthorn]

No, I've only recently arrived here. That's part of the reason why I was singing: to feel closer to home.

[unblessed]

Oh. Have you been feeling homesick?

[losthorn]

Yes... Especially for my friends.

[unblessed]

Me, too... [Even if he didn't particularly get along with all of them.] But I think music is always a good way to feel close to home.

[losthorn]

Do you have a special song from your home that you like to play?

[unblessed]

Well, maybe not from my home... [He's thoughtful for a moment. There was nothing that special to him. Then again...] But there is a song. A song for a dear friend. Would you like to hear it?

[losthorn]

I would love to.

[unblessed]

[He nods, pulling out his flute. The song he plays is soft gentle, but a little sad. He's always been awful at naming his songs, but he makes up for them with his playing.]

[losthorn]

[she closes her eyes to listen] It's lovely.

[unblessed]

[Capell feels content when he finishes playing. He hasn't played that song in a long time. He blinks at her comment, though, a bit bashfully.]

Do you think so? I haven't played in a while, I think I might be a little rusty...

[losthorn]

If you want to practice, I'll be willing to listen.

[unblessed]

R-really? [The offer is unexpected, but...] I would really appreciate that. It'd be nice to play for an audience.
