They're all of the same little lizard, but they are carefully done from multiple angles. The precise, detailed depictions... are in stark contrast to the hastily scrawled notes about the creature, appearing near key features or generally off to the side. Colours are taken down, as well as general size (the picture, according to one nearly illegible citation) is scaled by half.

That this can be seen by everyone who might glance down at their Journals doesn't bother the naturalist. Luceti may not currently allow him all the company he would have if given his choice, but it does, at least, grant him a variety of new creatures to study.]

[Stephen barely beats her home and deposits the salamander he has claimed in a tank previously for studying fish found in the Luceti river. It's already set up, water the proper temperature and plants thriving.

So the little critter can settle in nicely while he prepares for Buffy.]
