[Action - Good Spirits, early evening]

[Every society, no matter where you go, has a way to get drunk.

Ginia muses on the thought with a faint smile as she sits in Good Spirits, sipping at a milkshake with a few shots of Baileys in it. It's been a strange, long day that's ended with being shot and bleeding out on a run and beginning anew in a strange village with wings. Worse was a lingering feeling she knew the village, somehow, in some strange way. It was impossible, she was sure she would have remembered being here. But the feeling was enough to get her back on her feet, into a clothing store for a fresh set of clothes, to the item store to pick up some supplies, and to Good Spirits.

She sits at a table toward the side, alternating between watching people as they come in and reading the guide provided in the journal. It's an interesting thing, the guide, and she takes her time memorizing information.

Later in the evening, she ventures out with some questions on the journal.]

It's an interesting thing, the journals. Written messages, audio messages, being able to address everyone as a whole, talk to individuals, send private messages, never runs out of pages, and looks like any regular sort of book. Tidy bit of technology, or magic I suppose. I like the guide too, very well-written and informative, my thanks to the author.

Anything else a New Feather should know about? The little local sorts of things. Legends, stories, suggested dishes to try at the restaurants, the dos and don'ts, those sorts of things. Give me your best. I have time.

Books on the other hand, I can't defend myself or views, or correct the facts.

What do you do in your spare time?

Feed birds. [Yup, thats about it.] Spend time with Abel.

Abel is the assistant you mentioned earlier? And do you care to sit down again? There are tables and chairs not too far from here.

Correct, and yes, lets. [He is still holding this book with the image of the automobile in it. Once they reach the table, he pulls out the chair for her before sitting down also.]

If you'll forgive me for prying, have you two know each other for long?

Yes, four years. And I don't think it is prying, it is common knowledge in my world.

What is common in your world may not be common here, and we are still strangers. Four years, a good time to know a person. May there be many more ahead.

[He gives her a soft smile, it is obvious Abel is important to him.] I pray so too.

[Ah! A smile. Ginia's smile grows warmer in response.]

Is he also a pious man?

Yes, although because he was originally going to be a farmer sometimes his mind wanders from things not church related.

I don't think there's harm in letting one's mind wander. One can't focus on work all the time. [Says the workaholic.] Farming is a good profession too.

You see, it was his place to be a farmer. His family was odd, they had four children. Normally, only three is allowed. He was the eldest, so he was going to take on his parent's farm and care for them. [He spills information easily about Abel. His smile still on his face.]

But he signed up when my previous assistant was executed, because the crops were dying or a goat was stolen or something and if you applied, the church would give money to the applicants. Well, he was chosen, I think a sister or something is mad at him because now she is supposed to be the farmer- I really don't care about that because what matters now he works with the church.

[It's the most he's said in one go through their whole conversation and it brings him obvious joy. Always pleasant to see. Ginia jots down a few light notes in the back of her notebook.]

From a farmer of the land to a farmer of men. I think I'd like to meet him sometime, he sounds like an interesting man.

[It does, he could go on all day about the other man.] He is here, which I am so happy about, I really don't know how everything would be without him close by.

As I said earlier, it is good you two are here together. I'm certain it'll make things easier. Friends usually do.

It will, but then again, its his job to be there for me.

Such is the job of an assistant. What does he do, exactly?

Everything I don't? [He blinks as he thinks of what all Abel does.]

He tends to wake up before me, so he gets my breakfast and brings it to me. He does all my food preparation, make sure my clothes are cleaned, shopping, when I go out he stays nearby- like a bodyguard. He answers any questions I have, makes sure I am in the right places at the right time... [Luce keeps on rambling off Abel's chore list. The more it goes on, the more it is obvious Luce is dependent on the man for the most part. Less like an assistant and more like a guardian.]
