it's time once again for a...test drive meme!

the luceti test drive meme

Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[Steve. Turning your puppy eyes on the Hulk so he'll shade you from the sun is probably an inappropriate use of your superpowers. And isn't his catch phrase something like 'smash'? Can we make this introduction from a distance?]

That's a shame. [He's only kidding. When Steve asks him about this place, he shrugs and turns to watch the water again, sunscreen mostly forgotten.]

It's... something. If we're gonna be lab rats I guess they gave us a nice cage. [He shakes his head. Everyone in this place is paying for the nice cage one way or another and 'it could be worse' doesn't really justify that. The thing is, experiments notwithstanding, he can't say 'it could be a lot better' either.

And then there's the part where he - they? - really should be dead but he's not bringing that up again.]
I dunno, Steve. What do you think?

[Never let it be said that Steve Rogers doesn't know how to work things to his advantage. The puppy eyes are just a perk. And the Hulk isn't such a bad guy as long as you're not trying to hunt him down. :|]

A nice cage, that's one way to think of it. [It's actually a pretty good analogy for the situation really. When he's asked for his thoughts, Steve's expression sobers and there's a tension in his shoulders that belays his not-so-nice feelings about the place.]

I think the Malnosso are the worst kinds of cowards. Using us for whatever their reasons are in the name of science. Putting us in a place like this, almost like it'll soften the fact that we're prisoners. [Like the Mallies are telling them, 'We're going to use you in any way possible for our own gain, but here, have a paradise to live in between experiments.] At least during the war, neither side tried to pretend to be something they're not. When you're a prisoner, you know it without a doubt.

[Who could say that? People who've never met Steve? And he'll... take your word for it. Remember when he used to introduce you to pretty girls, Steve? Giant green rage monster = not the same thing. (Not that you aren't pretty, Hulk!)]

[He nods, listening.] I'm not gonna argue with that. The Malnosso are cowards, but most bullies are, right? [There's a brief half-smile that doesn't reach his eyes.] I haven't met a lot of people yet but some of 'em aren't even soldiers. They shouldn't be in a place like this.

[Bucky draws one of his knees up to his chest too and wraps his arms around it loosely, still not looking at Steve.] Which is one of the reasons I'm glad things aren't like the war, to be honest. It might not be as clear-cut but I'll take the lies over any of these people being worked to death for HYDRA while they mess with us.

[Suffice to say the crowd Steve runs with these days is way different than yours, buddy. With the exception of Natasha, of course.]

[His lips curve into a small, forced smile at that.] You got that right. On both accounts. From what I know I think there are only a handful of trained soldiers here. The rest are civilians and...kids.

[He doesn't disagree with Bucky's point. In fact, he knows his friend is right about this one. But he still doesn't like the...fake-ness of it all. He never will.] You're right, I know. But you should hear about some of these Shifts I've been told about. I don't think we're being spared in the least.

[No kidding.]

[That last point gets a grimace out of Bucky. He had noticed the kids, obviously, and that's really the worst of it. Who experiments on little kids?]

I'm always right. [There's sarcasm underlying the words. Of course Steve isn't gonna like this place and Bucky's not too gung-ho about defending it either.] And you're not wrong.

But until we can figure a way out of here... [He shrugs.] I guess we'll just have to help out however we can.

[He's quiet for a long moment, staring out at the water. It's obvious he's lost in thought, but surprisingly his thoughts weren't on what they've been talking about. For all the awful things that happen in Luceti, and everything the people have to go through here, there are silver linings.

Like Bucky being here, for one. Suddenly, Steve turns and stares at his friend's profile, a small smile tugging at his lips when he realizes that Bucky is just how he remembers him. Almost like nothing has changed.]

...I'm really glad you're here, Bucky. [It's a bit out of left field, but he feels the need to say it.]
jamesbarnes: (I'm following him)

[personal profile] jamesbarnes 2012-08-22 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[That catches Bucky by surprise, it's so out of the blue. For a moment he really doesn't know how to respond. He forgets it's been a lot longer for Steve.]

Yeah, well. [He leans in a little and reaches over to squeeze Steve's shoulder. He's so much the same on the inside it's strange to see how much he's changed sometimes, but his shoulder is undeniably huge under Bucky's hand. He remembers being relived for as long as it took the drugs to wear off and realizing pretty fast that Steve had just started picking bigger fights to match.

But that's just Steve, and nothing's gonna change him, really.

Bucky uses his shoulder as leverage to get up just because he can and turns to offer Steve a hand.]
Come on punk, let's go for a swim. I'm roasting out here.
neversurrender: (grin)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2012-08-22 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He stops trying to restrain his smile and grabs Bucky's out stretched hand, careful not to pull too hard. There was a time when Bucky would have been able to pull him with no help at all. But that hasn't been for a long time.]

After you. Age before beauty. [He teases, making a sweeping gesture towards the water.]
jamesbarnes: (that so?)

[personal profile] jamesbarnes 2012-08-22 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[He still has to use both hands to drag Steve up, which is just ridiculous, but he's getting used to it now.]

You only think you're cute, Rogers. [Bucky's walking backward, arms open, playfully challenging.] Which one of us is practically a geriatric now? Sure you can make it all the way across the beach?
neversurrender: ([PB] smile like you understand the refer)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2012-08-23 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
[He follows Bucky, grin stretching wider at his friend's challenge.] I guess we'll just have to see. [One moment he's walking casually, and the next he's racing towards the water, kicking up sand in his wake.] Last one in goes home with a walker!
jamesbarnes: (:D)

[personal profile] jamesbarnes 2012-08-25 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
First one in eats it! [Bucky has seen that trick before, but even with a head start Steve beats him to the water. He doesn't mind anything but the sand in his face. It's good to see Steve this happy again.]

[When he splashes in himself he grabs Steve around the shoulders and tries to drag him down as revenge.]
neversurrender: ([PB] don't you wish your boyfriend was h)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2012-08-25 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[The problem with trying to drown someone who is taller than you is that their feet touch the ground before yours does. Even in water Steve is pretty hard to knock over, so enjoy hanging onto his shoulders as he suddenly dives down into the water.]
