it's time once again for a...test drive meme!

the luceti test drive meme

Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[She doesn't miss his wince and it draws a soft chuckle from her as she leans carefully back in her chair, sipping from her tumbler as she watches him.] I'm afraid I'll have to take your word for that at the moment. I haven't met enough yet to make an accurate judgement.

[Then again, other people tended to be infinitely more trusting than she was, when it came to things like that.

Natasha didn't miss the glance he cast her wings - still visible behind her over the top of her dress, the feathers pitch black except for the very tips, which were stained a dark deep red, looking like they'd been dipped in blood. The first time she'd come across her reflection, she'd stopped and stared for a good ten minutes and she still wasn't quite sure what to think of them. Wings, for god's sake. At least she hadn't sprouted horns and a forked tail to match.

His were hidden, of course, but she could still see the outline of them, tucked under his shirt. It was a difference she noticed on everyone she'd encountered so far. Just visible enough to catch her off guard every time with the unexpectedness of it.]

Did I miss something in my history lessons where waking up one day with wings was a thing in your time? [There is gentle teasing in her tone as she peers up at him from beneath dark lashes.] War of the Worlds seemed real enough, or so I've heard.

I can introduce you to a few people if you'd like. A few of them are even from our world. [And one of them is a very old friend of his from the war. Steve can't help but wonder how Natasha would react to being in a place with two Starks running loose. But he knows she'd nothing if no capable. It's what he likes about her.]

No, of course not. I just don't see why this situation would be more extraordinary than any other super villain plot. [He shrugs and takes a sip of the water that the bartender places in front of him. Her last comment causes his eyes to furrow in confusion.] ....I'm afraid you've lost me.

[His phrasing there gives her pause and her lips purse together as she mulls that over, surprise flickering in bright green eyes. When she replies, it's with carefully chosen words and a probing hesitation.] Where are the rest of them from?

[His explanation has her relenting, the tip of her finger swirling absently around the rim of her glass as she concedes that point.] Maybe it's not, but this is the first supervillain plot I've stumbled into that's given me extra appendages. At least the aliens only shot at me.

[Well. That, and what they'd done to Clint. But that sort of warfare was also something she was sadly used to.

His confusion had her pausing again, mentally doing calculations in her head. She'd been fairly certain the panic caused by the radio reading of the alien invasion had happened before the war, but perhaps he'd somehow missed that. She'd only recalled it because her instructor had laughed himself silly at the gullible Americans.

She waved her hand, expression apologetic as she dismissed it.]
I might have mixed up my dates. There was a science fiction book called War of the Worlds about an alien invasion, Orson Welles narrated it over the radio. It was so realistic that almost the entire audience tuning in to listen thought it was a news bulletin and was actually happening. Everyone panicked.

[He studies her for a moment, eyebrows lifted in surprise. He'd thought the guidebook had covered the whole 'multiple universes' thing but it's been at least a month since he last read, so he could be wrong.] You don't know? Everyone here is brought from a different universe; a completely separate world from ours. Well, usually, anyways. There are some people here from universes that are very similar to ours. They even have their own Avengers team and SHIELD. And there's more than one. [And then he stops, realizing that this info dump of knowledge might not be what Natasha needs after only just getting here.]

[His expression suddenly lights up upon recognition. He remembers the stir up that broadcast had caused and how he and Bucky had been sitting together, hunched over the radio as it was going on. It had just been so long since he'd thought about it...any of it. These days I tried not to dwell so much on the past. Despite the fact that this place seemed to be drawing him back into it, first with Howard and now Bucky...] No, you didn't. I remember that now. Everyone had been so sure it was real. Even I had had half a mind to go check out the window for signs of a giant UFO touching down.

More than one? [And if anything she's learned so far about this place is scary, that one tops the list.] Dear god. Multiple Tony Starks. Suddenly this seems much closer to a nightmare than paradise. [It's a dry quip, but her words aren't sharp. If anything, they're practically fond as she shakes her head and takes another long sip of her drink.] I worked with a scientist once who was exploring the possibility of alternate dimensions. Mirrors of our own worlds or sometimes completely different. It was all theoretical, though. He'd be ecstatic if he ever landed up here.

[The way his face lights up makes her smile, her head tilting to the side as she props her cheek on her hand and watches him.] If only a common cold could have been so effective against the Chitauri.

[It had been quite a shock for him too when he had arrived. Being recognized, we was used to. But having so many people talk to him like they knew him personally...not so much. It had been quite uncomfortable at first.] Well, no. I mean, yes there are multiple Tonys, but only one here. Our Tony in fact. But there are two Starks here. [And he pauses for a moment, taking another drink of water before continuing.] Howard Stark is here. Except it's Howard from back in the 1940's. Shortly after I went missing.

[That causes him to chuckle. A lot of things would have been a lot easier if the Chitauri had had a weakness like that.] Reality is never quite as clean cut as fiction.

[One eyebrow arches faintly at this as she digests this information.] Tony's father? [That's asked mostly for confirmation, because to not have heard of Howard Stark meant you spent your life living under a rock somewhere. That and knowing Tony personally meant she'd picked up on tidbits here and there of his opinion of his father.] Well. I'm sure that was an interesting meeting. You worked with him, yes? During the war?

[Her lips quirk again, humor flitting through green eyes.] No, but some days it's even stranger.

The very same. [Steve has never been very clear on the details of Tony and Howard's relationship, so the fact that Tony asked him to keep their relation a secret from Howard had come as a surprise. He doesn't like keeping things from his old friend.] I did. He assisted Dr. Erskine when I was given the serum. I also got my shield from him. [Amongst other things.]

You've got that right.

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2012-08-25 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure Tony's thrilled. [It was said mildly, no hint of her opinion showing either way; she could just be stating the obvious, although she really, really wasn't. She nodded when Steve explained his early encounters with Howard, filing that away.]

Fury had mentioned that Howard had a large hand in forming SHIELD at its origins, too. That was long before I came to them so I never had the chance to meet him. He was always infamous, though. [She tilts her head slightly, flicking a curious glance at Steve.] Is he anything like Tony?
neversurrender: ([PB] riding off into the sunset)

[personal profile] neversurrender 2012-08-25 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he mentioned that to me too. He probably thought I'd feel more comfortable being in SHIELD's custody if I knew an old friend had had a hand in its creation. [Although at that point Steve hadn't been feeling much of anything. Just desolation at everything he loved being gone. Fury had been very helpful when it came to telling him the whereabouts of his friends, but as much as he wanted to know what he'd missed, an even bigger part of him hadn't.]

[He makes the mistake of taking a drink of water when he hears her question and immediately starts choking. He covers his mouth with his hand and turns away. Finally clearing he looks back over at her.] There are some...striking similarities. [Oh, more than you know Natasha.]

[Her lips quirk at this, amused by his response, by the openness of it. It always catches her off-guard a little, Steve being... well. Steve.] Oh? After that reaction, I'm half afraid to ask. Although now you have me curious. Spill, Captain.
