Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

Unfortunately, I'm all out of pokemon swallow treats. Maybe we should just find this welcome center. [Sounds like the best source of information so far, at least.]

I'm Ikki, by the way! I forgot to tell you. What's your name?

[ She's skipping along now. Luckily for Daria her tour guide really does know how to get around in Luceti. ]

[ If she'd said "Morgendorfer" she might have gotten recognition regarding Quinn, who Ikki has actually met, but as it is Ikki nods. ]

We-ell, it's not as easy as that. You're kinda stuck here until you're not. I dunno how people get sent home - no one really does, though. You either do or you don't, and there's no warning or anything. But Luceti isn't so bad - there's lots of people here from lots of worlds, and lots to do!

You should join the Art Club! I'm one of the cofounders.

Oh, and be careful with your wings, okay? [ Ikki gestures to her own, which are a pale yellow. ]

That's almost Zen of you. [Until they get to the art club part. That's more Jane's thing. Oh, and Daria's wings are a rather dull black. They could accurately be called frumpy.]

Haha, well, I am a nun, y'know! [ It's a cultural thing. ]

Mm, it's your life. Your wings, I mean. If you hurt them, you'll hurt, and if you lose them, you'll die. So be careful with them!

I don't think we're all fairies, but some of us probably are. Some of us are also dragons and pirates and ninjas and giant talking turtles. We have allllllll kinds of people here, so I'm sure you'll fit right in!

[Daria, just because you're on edge, don't take it out on the kid playing make-believe.]

The thing is, not fitting in is sort of what I'm used to.

Well, you can probably do that, too. I have a half-dragon friend who doesn't really like talking to humans - well, that's not what she said. She talks to people when it is needful? I guess? But I'm working on getting her to go out more!!

Well, she lives outside, but that's not the point.

What I mean is that you should make the best of things! We can see if anyone you know is here, and get you signed up for an apartment, and go find your clothes and get you groceries and things, and - Luceti's weird, but it's definitely a really fun place to be! If you don't have anyone from your world here, you can always talk to me, though!

[Daria picks apart what she thinks is the truth behind what she takes for childish storytelling:

An imaginary friend. The expectation that Daria will be here for quite awhile. And a hint that she can still find her friends and family.]

It's pretty unlikely that you'd know anyone I do, but I'd be looking for Jane Lane. If I can't find her, her brother Trent would do. And I suppose I should at least try to get in touch with home. Jake and Helen Morgendorffer.

[breezing]

I don't know any Jane Lane or Trent Lane, sorry! Or a Jake and Helen Morgendorffer. I know a Quinn Morgendorffer, though? Well, I didn't meet her in person, but we talked when she first got here!

I don't know if she's someone you know, though?

Maybe we should forget about the Welcome Center and try to find Quinn.

She's my sister.

[breezing]

That'd probably still be the first place to go, though. They have the lists of where people live!

[ And she...isn't sure where Quinn ended up. An apartment somewhere? But she does give Daria a brilliant smile. ] That's great, though!! You have someone here! Maybe you can live with her, too. Oh, but I should tell you - people from the same world can come from different times, so she might not remember things you do or you might not remember things she does, because you might've lived things that haven't happened yet.

Oh, I believe Quinn won't remember things. [But really, how did they both get lost in the same place? They rarely ever go to the same places, aside from the school.]

[breezing]

[ That sounds pretty flippant, and Ikki frowns a little bit, worrying. ] Well - maybe, but you know, I'm seventy years after most of my family here, so just keep it in mind, 'kay?

Oh, and here we are. There's a mural Pao-Lin worked on - I didn't work on that one, but I did work on the one over by the fountain, you know?

I won't upset Quinn's delicate state of mind. [She doesn't quite mean to sound petulant, really. The tone is as deadpan as ever. It's a coping mechanism.

Daria decides to spend the next few moments pretending to be absorbed in the mural to avoid more talking for a little while.]

[breezing]

[ Ikki's really more worried about Daria's state of mind at the moment - she doesn't want her to be upset if Quinn remembers too much or not enough - but she doesn't clarify, instead lingering by Daria's side as she takes in the mural, for once being quiet and semi-unobtrusive as Soren looks on with Daria.

...Yeah, she's pretty much dying to talk again but she's trying to be Sensitive. ]

[She has to admit, to herself at least, that the quiet is welcome.

She supposes it can't last forever, though, and after awhile, she turns away from the murals.]

So how do I get in touch with Quinn? Is there a magic genie to carry messages?

[breezing]

[ FINALLY ]

Nope! You use your journal! Like this one, see? You should have had one around you when you woke up. Everyone gets one! They're how we can all keep in touch. You can just write something filtered to her or ping her or something!

Orrr we can ask inside where she lives and go there, I guess, but either way works. Journals are usually best just because I dunno if she's up to anything. School hasn't started yet, and I don't know if she's in it even, so she could pretty much be anywhere doing anything.

Do you guys have a Cashman's here? If you do, I know exactly where Quinn is.

[breezing]

What's Cashman's?

[Sudden horrible visions of the kids she used to babysit for: frighteningly perfect, and completely ignorant of the world. Or the home-schooled kid she got to know for awhile. Daria may not care for the humiliation of a shopping experience, but everyone knows what Cashman's is.]

It's a department store. You know, at the mall?

[breezing]

[ ...W-well she did grow up on an island compound where they grew their own food and were all monks and nuns trying to revive an entire culture. ]

I don't know about a mall, but I know about stores. Umm, we have a few of those around here - the item shop, the clothing store, the grocery store - and everything's free, so you don't have to worry about money. Which is good, 'cause no one has any.

Quinn's probably at the clothing store. She probably even knows I'd look for her there if she got lost. Though I still haven't figured out how we both got lost in the same place at the same time.

[Right. The guide the little girl mentioned. She'd have to go back and find that journal after all.]

[breezing]

Oh! Well, we can go there first if you want - we should get your clothes anyway - or we can stop in and see where she lives and then go to the shop?

[ She's leaving it up to Daria, since she seems pretty convinced her sister will be at the shop. Quinn did seem happy when Ikki mentioned everything was free... ]
