there is no place quite like this place if we get it on the go

the luceti test drive meme

Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[Alex "Smith" was currently sitting at a rough-shod booth under a sign which advertised his services. He was whistling, feet up on the 'counter,' and whittling something with a pocket knife.

Apparently feeling enterprising, he'd tacked on "General Advice" with a small paper sign as well.

He appeared to be enjoying himself tremendously, even if he hadn't any costumers.]

What in the bloody blazes...

[ a tall soldier stopps not five feet from the booth, peering at the sign. he takes his sweet time deciphering the letters. christ, but that one long word gives him a terrible pause. he leans back with his hand resting gently on his sword's hilt. p-sy-chi...

his lips mouth the sounds. ]

[Alex is nothing if not in tune with other people's emotions, especially when other people happen to be carrying honking big swords and sounding a bit as if they're from the North. He's all ready up to speed on the whole 'different times, different worlds' gig but it's very hard to be completely plucked from one's companions and purpose and plopped into a place with its own rules for behavior and cliques and more general cynicism than one could shake a stick at.

He never was overly fond of rules and propriety, but they at least let him know what to flout and when. The booth was a matter of finding that same balance.

But now, quick dark gaze darting to and from the man with the accent a bit like the North and the giant honking sword, Alex decided it was in his best interest to pretend like he hadn't noticed the way the man was forming the words with his mouth and completely involved in his whittling. A bit of bloodletting may be necessary, blast it all. He allowed himself the smallest cut against his thumb. And his whistling abruptly cut off.]

Ow, blast it! [Shaking his hand about, he stuck the cut in his mouth for a moment and whisked away the blood. Then pretended (and he was quite good at it) to notice Sharpe for the first time.] Oh. Hullo!

[ richard sharpe is starting to doubt that the word was even english. luckily, he is not left to stew in his doubt for long. pale green eyes -- livelier than his soured expression, that's for certain -- shift abruptly from the sign to the swearer. the blooded. the man. a twig of a lad, from the looks of him.

the soldier frowns, taking the sudden greeting as an invitation to step nearer. ]

Careful, lad. You'll bleed all over your pretty little...[ whatever the hell this is ] shop?

Booth, actually. [Straightening up, he set his pocket knife and spot of wood aside with all the air of a man who was embarrassed to have cut himself in Manly Company. Which, to an extent, he was.] Advice booth. I saw it in the funny pages once.

[Raising his hand up, he pressed against the wound. It was a thin slice, but it's no good leaving bits of blood about.]

...What's so funny about it?

[ to his credit, he only looks so sour on account of the scar that ran across his cheek. it lifts his lip into a semi-sneer so long as he wasn't actively smiling. ]

What? So I just bloody well go on ahead and ask you questions? Is that it?

Interesting.

[Evan pauses as he sees the booth. He grins and heads on over because that is a interesting booth you have my friend.

Once in front of the booth he checks his pockets before finding nothing. Evan rests his single hand on his hip, the other sleeve of his shirt rolled up and pinned near his shoulder out of the way with no arm to fill it, and looks thoughtful.]

I don't have a nickel on me. Take anything else?
withinterest: (what a lovely smile)

Why, thank you!

[personal profile] withinterest 2012-12-19 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Quick dark eyes assess the man approaching, and Alex gives him a cheeky grin.]

Why, advice, of course. Like the sign says. [As he swings his feet off the booth, Alex folds the knife away and plants it in his pocket. With his other hand he reveals what he's been whittling by chasing a wooden nickle over his knuckles. He flips the the nickle up with his thumb, testing the weight, and then catches it.]

I'm not opposed to the receiving as well as the giving. Especially if I get my nickle back.

I have plenty of advice to give. Any subject in particular you need advice in?

[Evan admires the pure showmanship of the wooden nickle reveal. He grins at the comment.]

I don't know. That's a neat nickle.... [He's teasing, mostly. Humor dances in his eyes.]
