Player Name: Shira
Are you new?: N
Character Name: Shayera (Hawkgirl) Hol
Character Fandom: Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, DCA
[Shayera awoke on a grassy meadow in a damp white dress that even she would consider short, with a pain in her back and her mace immediately to her right.
Well. Things could be worse.
Slowly, so as not to attract attention in case someone was watching her, she reached out for the hilt of her familiar weapon. Once she had it in her hand, Shayera immediately sprang to her feet.
Oh good. There was no one in sight. Peachy. That meant there was no one around to immediately pound for answers. She attempted to take to the sky, but her back immediately exploded in pain.]
What the--
[She craned her head to see two tiny useless golden wings between her two Thanagarian ones. Now that annoyed her.]
All right, whatever joker thought it was a good idea to take away my clothes and leave me my mace should come out now so we can share a good laugh.
[Glancing around again, she located a book. Picking it up, she saw her name on it.]
Oh, you've got to be kidding me.

You always did need to work on your sense of humor. Where am I?

This enclosure we're situated in is called Luceti by the organization containing us her. The planet has no known name, but we're in another universe, far beyond Oa's reach. Neat as I can tell, we've been brought here through some kind of rift in time and space. Unfortunately our captors have been keeping me and my fellow prisoners in the dark on further details.

Well, the first thing to do would be to make sure that he was who he said he was.]
So you're telling me this is worst than that time on Battle Planet?
[Or. You know. War World. But without a pause, only John would know that, and that it had been Superman who had been trapped.]

[He knows the deal. He's given enough information to correct her, but not give away everything. After all, she has to prove she's on the level too.]

[Which meant it really was John. She wasn't sure if she was relieved or if that made it even worse.
On the plus side, at least that meant that the information he shared was as true as he knew it to be. Lying wasn't John's strong suit. Unlike...]

[They've chatted enough on the journal already.]

[She knows, she knows. Enough with the sarcasm; give him something he can use. She's not sure she wants his help, but if he was willing to come and find her, then... Shayera tilted her head and listened. Her senses felt oddly dull, but she could still make out the sound of running water.]
I can hear a stream. It's about a mile away.

[Which really stood out at night. Shame it wasn't night time. Regardless, he's already in the air and tracing a flight path along the river, headed north.]
no subject
Like hell she'd let him see it.]
I'll be there.
[Without another word, she closed her book and took to the air.]

Shayera. [Even though he's had time, it's still hard to fall back into old habits. Especially after what the two of them had been together.]

Hello, John.

Four months. That's how long I've been here. Before you ask, that's where the 'time' part of the rift comes in.

In the 'How could you have been missing for four months without the League tearing the world apart' sense?

Just how many times are you saying you've been here?

[A hint of a smirk at that, but he was not amused by it at all. He'd had his own history of failures, but none quite as bad as this.]

And you don't know what's bringing us here? Or why they see fit to do this?
[She turns around so he can see her wings within wings.]

It's a bio-morphic side effect of arriving in this universe. I've got them too. So do the Malnosso.

Cute. [Pathetic, really. Look at the dinky little things.] They can't possibly work.
[She was stalling, really. He'd given her all the pieces of information she needed in order to put the situation together, and she didn't like it one bit. She didn't want to have to say it, not when they were talking so civilly after... but she would have to say it, in a moment.]

[Though he looks down at the village warily.]
Problem is, the people on this world are born with wings like yours. There's a whole army filled with them just itching to wipe us out. You might run into people who aren't very good at telling the difference.

Shayera rested the head of her mace in one hand almost contemplatively.]
Then I guess I won't have to worry about winning any popularity contests.
