Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

No, I mean the wall. You know, the really big one? [He gestures with his hand, the way you would when describing someone's height.]

... [Eley watches but still seems confused. A really big wall? He thinks a moment, trying to place something like that within the enclosure.]

Some of the housing is rather tall. Perhaps that would suit your needs. Otherwise the highest place would be in the mountains, though the walls there are not man-made.

There's mountains here? [Wait, that's not even the point. Or maybe it is, because he knows there aren't any mountains inside the walls. Where the hell is this place? His frustration is plain by now.]

Is there seriously no wall? [Spoken as if there's still a 30% chance this guy is just pulling his leg.]

[Eley gives a nod.] I visit them fairly regularly. It is peaceful up there.

As for your wall... I am not sure if I understand exactly what you are looking for. Since you sound like a newcomer, I can only assume that it is something found in your own world.

[Eley has to wonder just what the importance of this big wall was to him. Obviously it held a great deal of significance or he wouldn't be so adamant about finding it. Somewhere to live? Or work? Or was it for protection from something?]

There is the barrier, though I am not sure if it is really a 'wall' as you describe. We are trapped in an enclosure here.

Well, duh. [The trapped here thing. It's nothing new.]

Wall, barrier, whatever you want to call it. I wanna see it, so tell me how to get there.

[Although...he can't help but get snagged on those little words: in your own world.] ...Wait, wait, is this really a whole different world?

[Eley gives a firm nod.]

I am afraid so. We have all been brought here against our will... This enclosure is known as Luceti.

[As for how to get to the barrier...]

Walk far enough in any direction and you will find it, beyond the mountains, the forests or the sea. If you like, I can go with you. Though if you are new here, you may want to familiarise yourself with the town first and find somewhere to stay.

I get that part. I sure as hell didn't pick to come here. [A huffy sort of exhalation.]

Wall Luceti, huh? [Said mostly to himself.] And there's even a sea? Inside the wall?

[winds_voice]

[Eley continues calmly, apparently unperturbed by this newcomer's huffy attitude.]

Just Luceti. There is no wall. The barrier is rather more like... a shield. A thin veil that is invisible to the eye. Other than that, the only walls you will find are those of the buildings contained within the enclosure.

And yes, part of the ocean can be accessed within this barrier. Still I must ask, what exactly is the importance of walls to you? You seem rather... eager to locate one.

[He doesn't get how that works at all, but he doesn't get a chance to ask just yet because this guy's decided to ask the questions now.

What a weird thing to have to explain... It's like explaining why you breathe, why you eat food.] The walls are the difference between surviving and getting wiped out completely.

Aren't there titans beyond the w-- barrier here too?

Titans?

[Eley had to think about that. He'd only been outside once before, so he couldn't speak for the rest of the planet, but he didn't recall seeing anything he would have labelled a 'titan' in the desert. Nor did he recall hearing them mentioned.]

I cannot be certain, but it is not something I have seen myself or heard others talk about. Whatever threat you left behind is likely not to be found here. Not unless the Malnosso decide to make it so... they are the ones responsible for bringing us here.

[wipesfaith]

[A world without titans... He tries to wrap his brain around that one.]

Then why build a barrier if there's nothing to keep out?

[Eley pauses at that, his tone softening.]

Perhaps to keep us in, as well as to protect us from... other outsiders. We appear to be experimental subjects to these Malnosso. Every so often they also call on us to do their bidding and fight their war for them. Here, we are nothing but pawns for the organisations of this planet to use as they see fit.

I admit that I try not to get involved myself. I do not condone war or violence. I want no part in this.

[wipesfaith]

[As he listens, his expression becomes heavy with anger. His voice is only getting sharper and rougher.] Who the fuck do these guys think they are? Fight your own damn war!

[At least he has a better idea of what this "barrier" is for.]
