[He might have been kidnapped but that didn't mean Jack was going to lie down and do nothing. In fact, now that he'd been removed from his world and everything he had been working towards, his determination had only increased. He was more eager than ever to strengthen himself and find a way out of here, back to Filgaia and back to facing the Demons. Facing her in particular.

So you might find him practicing his Fast Draw technique with his sword in the Battledome (after spending a while figuring out how to even use the thing, where was Hanpan when you needed him?), or feeling a little worn out afterwards, which was strange. Was he really that out of shape?

Anyone who notices will find Jack apparently standing off against the virtual target, hand on sword, before darting forward at speed and attacking with a volley of slashes. It was rather like watching two cowboys undertaking a quick draw only... with a sword. And one of the cowboys was a generic monster.]

So, do all of the animals here talk? I thought Hanpan could be annoying but at least he was good for some interesting conversation.

[If that was what she was intending, it seemed to work. Jack wasn't expecting an audience, especially not one that included Jane, and hearing her voice suddenly breaks his concentration for a moment. Luckily he manages to hop out of the way of the humanoid creature's claws before finishing it off and thus ending the simulation.

He gives off a sigh as he sheathes his sword, turning to the girl with a rather irritated look on his face.]

You know, if you care for them so much then you can always join them next time. You're right, I need a challenge.

[griiiiins. Wow, that had worked better than she had been expecting!

Also s'up Jack hopefully it's not weird to see her looking a few years older than when you saw her last.]

Nah, I'll pass. Besides, haven't you heard that saying about bringing a sword to a gunfight? I'm showing just how merciful I am by turning you down!

[There was so much he could consider weird here that seeing an older version of her just seemed to be another check on the list. Still, it didn't seem like she'd changed much overall.

I don't need your mercy. [He retaliates, but then seems to ponder a moment.] Well, how about a little competition? Make yourself useful instead of standing around watching me do all the work. We'll see who can bring down all the targets the fastest. No distractions.

A competition, huh? [Oh boy. How was she supposed to turn that down? This would give her the chance to try using her Filial magic for combat, too.]

Alright, you're on! I'll definitely win! [Alright, all she needed to do was use the panel and give herself an infinite ammo gun, and then she's be set.]

[Except Jack knows better than to let you set things up without him seeing, Jane. He can sense she'll be out to set the odds in her favour and despite the fact it was his idea and he wanted the workout, he's not about to fight twice as hard for it.

He leans a little closer to her, watching her like a hawk.]

No cheating either. I've got my eye on you.

[He'll just head over to the panel himself now. If you don't want him to end up giving you a pea shooter, you should probably go follow him, Jane~]

[Aw, was it that obvious? Was giving herself a teeny-tiny edge really so wrong?]

Well you're no fun. [And as he walked away, she tripled the number of targets for him instead of just doubling them. If he really was keeping an eye on her then he'd notice and fix it, right? ☆]

[So, guess who also happens to be in the dome today. Rudy had noticed the two on the display upstairs, and figured he'd come to see what's up. Seemed like the simulation they'd set up was already over anyway. With a swing of the door...!]

[... Oh. That's what's up. A horde of monsters right at the entrance. Fortunately he's armed, but it still doesn't stop the uncertain, feeling-like-he-just-interrupted-something expression.]

... Bad timing?

[He wasn't doing anything at all, thank you very much! Well... maybe he was trying to figure out a way to increase the monsters' defenses, but he never gets that far since another familiar face decides to turn up just around then~

Jack turns to the boy, offering a smile... which falters when he realises just how many monsters have started populating the place. He throws a foul look at Jane before turning back to Rudy.]

No, perfect timing. Since little miss honest over here decided to give me all the fodder, you can back me up. That sounds fair, right?

[smi~les~ If only she had the power to make a halo appear over her head!

...Hey, wait a second--!] Who are you calling little!? [It couldn't possibly have anything to do with her being the shortest!] I'm going to win by so much that it'll make you cry!

[And she followed that up by setting a monster on fire. Oh dear. Hopefully she wouldn't set any of them on fire by accident.]
