Test Flight Meme
Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!
▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).
Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:
o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.
Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.
Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.
Anise Tatlin | Tales of the Abyss
[When Anise first wakes up, she's met with an overwhelming sense that something is wrong. Her back's in a lot of pain, and she's not where she remembered going to sleep in Daath (the beds were way too comfortable here), and she's wearing clothes that she doesn't remember wearing. Thankfully, her clothes are folded neatly in a pile next to where she woke up; she'll change, go out, and figure out what's going on. That was a good plan.]
[Only, something's missing. A lot of somethings were missing. No matter how much she looked over the room, she couldn't find her wallet or Tokunaga. One of those things being missing might have been forgivable (well, probably not...), but both? Whoever it was that robbed her was going to pay.]
[She's going to spend most of the day looking for clues in the city. If she talks to enough people, she'll probably be able to track down the bastards responsible for stealing her stuff.]
Hey! Have you seen anyone around here carrying an old stuffed animal, kinda looks like it's about to fall apart? Somebody took it, and it's really important!
b. cafe!
[Anise finally has free time, so what better way to spend it than at a cafe? The cafe in town was pretty well run, and had a nice selection of cakes and pastries to boot!]
[The cafe was adorable, she was adorable, it was a perfect combination. Sitting and enjoying her tea and pastry outside, she was the perfect picture of adorable approachability! C'mon, you know you want to have tea with a girl this adorable.]

I'm afraid that I have no idea what you're referring to. I can only hope that your dear friend has not met an unfortunate end.
[Tokunaga might be secured under one of Jade's arms as he speaks.]
no subject
Colonel!
[And, true to form, the Colonel continued to know enough to find Tokunaga before she even realized he was missing.]
You found him!
[She runs over excitedly, stopping once she gets a closer look. He had wings. She hadn't noticed before since she was so occupied with finding Tokunaga, but everyone else in the city had wings, too.]
What's are those things on your back!?
no subject
He gives a soft chuckle as he prepares to hand over Tokunaga, and he listens to the question he predicted she would ask.]
Those would be my wings, Anise. It's what we spirits receive after a lifetime of good deeds, after all.
[He idly wonders if it was moreso the trolling aspect that he missed.]
no subject
[Wait, good deeds? Oh, there was no way.]
Boooooo, lying like that was mean.
no subject
After all, what sort of alternate explanation could there be?
no subject
Hey, now that you mention it, where are we, anyway?
no subject
Oh, it's nowhere out of the ordinary. Just an enclosure named Luceti located in an entirely foreign world that does not seem to have its own Planet Storm.
no subject
[That explanation didn't make any sense. It almost seemed like another one of the Colonel's tricks, except he looked way too serious to be kidding.]
How can there not be a planet storm?
no subject
You'll find that your wings are keeping you alive instead.

[What was he talking about she didn't have...]
[Whoa! Those were definitely new. She's looking more than a little startled, trying to figure out what these pink things on her back are.]

Are you ready for some feelings? Because I brought some feelings.
[But the moment he hears her voice, all that goes out the window. It's been more than a few months since he's heard it, but he would never mistake it. He quickly rounds the next corner, searching for the source just in case he might have been imagining it. But no, sure enough there she was, appearing just as she had that day he last saw her on Auldrant.]
[Unfortunately, memories of the events of that day stop him in his tracks. How much does she remember of Auldrant? Might she mistake him for Florian as Luke did? Or will she greet him just as she always has, unaware of what happened to him? He hesitates, but still manages to call out to her. His voice may sound a bit deeper than she might remember, but it's still unmistakably Ion's.]
...Anise?
Bring on all the feelings! :D
[But there was no way it could be him. There was absolutely no way he could be here; even if it was possible, as much as she wanted it to be him, she didn't think this place was that nice or that kind (or that cruel, even).]
[She stands staring for a moment, trying to think of what to do, when an idea hits her. Sync had been able to mimic Ion's voice; maybe Florian could, too? She didn't have any idea how or why Florian would've learned, but it's at least possible. Even if everything she has is telling her it's not Florian, there's no one else it could possibly be.]
Florian! I'm glad to see you. Are you okay? Nobody here hurt you, did they?
[Despite how she usually acts with Florian, she keeps her distance this time, even if she isn't sure why.]
no subject
[Ultimately, he settles on a non-committal shake of his head before smiling. It was a different smile from Florian's usual happy grins, and not one even Sync could have properly mimicked. He takes a small step closer, likewise keeping some distance between them.]
...it's good to see you again, Anise.
no subject
[She should be happy, and most of her is happy, but there's a tiny part of her that isn't, and she hates herself for it. She'd spent so much time thinking about how Ion should be the one still alive and about how it should be her that should have died instead that she never thought about what she'd actually say to him if she got the chance to see him again.]
Ion, I...
[And she's not sure what to say to apologize, either. What was she supposed to say? 'I'm sorry I was leaking information the entire time we were traveling together?' 'I'm sorry I was responsible for getting you killed?' No matter much she thought about it, she couldn't find an apology that fit, so she just lets her words trail off, afraid of closing the distance between them.]
no subject
[After only a few moments of silence, he makes his way towards her and closes the distance between them, stopping only when he's right in front of her. Somehow it's only when she's standing so close that it finally sinks in that she's really here -- perhaps due to the off-hand thought in the forefront of his mind, wondering if she was always this height in comparison to him. He's gotten a bit taller now, putting him at nearly Luke's height.]
[That same train of thought manages to bring him back, as if to remind him of where they are right now. And though he's still not sure what he should say, for the time being, maybe they can just ignore the elephant in the room. Even if only for a little while.]
[After all, he's getting to see Anise again -- it shouldn't have to be so sad.]
...it's fine. You've just arrived, haven't you? Are you all right?
no subject
[Ultimately, she was the one who wronged him. If he was the one who was making the first move, then stepping back and avoiding contact would be ignoring his wishes. She didn't know how long either of them had here, but she'd use what time she did have to doing whatever she could to make it up for him. If that meant ignoring the elephant in the room, she'd do it.]
Yeah...it was really sudden! I just woke up one morning, my wallet was gone, and I was here.
[She tries to punctuate it with a laugh, but it's still obvious how much she's trying to force herself. Her usual energetic voice is still muted, and she's desperately trying to find another topic of conversation that maybe she can segway into less awkwardly.]
Hey, when did you get so tall?
[She hadn't noticed until he'd come up to her, but he was definitely taller than she remembered him being, by a good few inches. He barely looked shorter than Luke; maybe he'd been here longer than she thought?]
no subject
[But they'll get there when they get there. For now, he just gives a small smile.]
Well, I've been here for a while longer than you have. Almost two years now by Auldrant's calender. [And almost longer than he spent alive on Auldrant -- something that hasn't quite sunk in yet.]
