Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

[A bit late to tell him he can't. He's already done it. It's an interesting feather, it seems no different from the sort found on a bird. Also interesting is the fact that Walter is here. He tilts his head, only feeling more and more dizzy.]

Hello, Walter.

[Walter stops dead in his tracks, noticing the reflection and the man making it now - his attention is hyperfocused for once and he just...stares.]

.....You...

[How could the Observer be here? It wasn't possible, was it? Wouldn't he be able to break the barrier and jump out of here? Walter's face pales.]

You're here. You came here? Why? [The color rushes back in as he goes toward September.] It is about Peter? Is he in danger? Did you come to get me?

[No, he's quite stuck and feeling worse by the second. Something along the line of 'oops' is what's mostly going through his mind right now.]

I did not come here, I was... brought. I do not remember who or what was responsible.

[He had been brought.... Walter feels his hopes deflating a little and nods, knowing this story well. He begins to rub his right hand with his left, distracted for the moment.]

Yes...we were all brought here. Apparently it is a natural phenomenon on this planet and from there we are enclosed in these villages to be kept "safe."

[Oh but wait, there was the matter of the feathers.]

Y-You need to sit down. The feathers you lost, it will make you ill.

Something is wrong. [He says, agreeing in his own way, as he pockets the feathers. Are they perhaps toxic, or was it really pulling them out that did it?]

Yes, very wrong.

[Observers should have been immune to whatever brought people here and yet here September was, pulling feathers out. He knew his friend didn't feel the way humans did and so he quickly moved to get something for him to sit on. He motioned to it, frowning.]

Sit. The act of removing feathers will make you unsettled for some time. ...Didn't you feel any pain?

[What is his stomach doing? Very unpleasant. He sits down, calmly enough, showing little distress on the outside.]

I cannot feel pain. Were the feathers coated with toxic substances?

[It makes sense and it's one thing he wouldn't be able to tell without specialized equipment... he's far from all-knowing.]

As I feared... [Without the ability to feel pain, and possibly with his ability to move through time and space reduced or taken away, September could be in actual danger here.]

The feathers are just feathers, I'm afraid. They are, however, somehow integrated into our physiology to a degree that I've never seen grafted limbs do before. The body doesn't reject them, but allows them to tie into our nervous systems to the point where losing them is akin to losing one's head.

...It's very problematic, as you can imagine. Tell me, what do you feel now if not pain?

[Fascinating stuff. Who could do this to him without his knowledge and then wipe his memory? He has built in failsafes of a sort to stop people messing with his head. Or so he thought.]

Disorientation. ... Other sensations.

[Probably best left vague.]

I've been stuck here for months with inadequate equipment, but yes - I had to understand how this was done.

[He always had to know. It was his business to learn and know, explore and find an answer, a cure, a way out. He frowned and then stood up, looking around.]

Bicarbonate of soda and water...I need sodium bicarbonate. You can ingest that, yes?

What have you begun to learn?

[He could help. There's nothing to stop him from working with Walter--his own kind will understand once he is free to leave. Knowledge must always be searched for.]

Yes. I am afraid I do not know where any is. The store appeared to be abandoned.

Not nearly enough, but I'm testing theories - frequencies, harmonies, whatever is keeping the barrier up is technology beyond anything I saw on the other side...

[First though, tend to September. His friend, always there for him, keeping him in line - saving his son. Walter cautiously offers a hand.]

I have some in my lab. It isn't far from here.

[For a moment or two he's puzzled, perhaps picking up the word 'friend' from Walter's mind. Friendship isn't a thing he quite grasps. Walter's something, though.]

Yes. I do not wish to remain here if there is no need.

[As in the strange little village itself, and Walter shouldn't be here either. He belongs with his son.]

Can you walk? [He leaned in a little closer, lowering his voice.] I threw up when I pulled my feathers. It was messy. Very messy.

[Then he leans back, waiting to see if September can do as he asked because he figures that "here" means on the little box stool thing he pulled out.]

I am capable of resisting such urges.

[Bypassing the body's signals and essentially telling his system to knock it off, already. Because it's a waste of time, he knows it's nothing he ate.]

[It doesn't stop him feeling dizzy when he stands up, that's beyond his control. What he can control is how he reacts to it, and again, no sign of any trouble.]

Yes.

Oh. [He felt a little sheepish now and stepped back, watching as September climbed to his feet as if nothing in the world could hurt him. The Observer was such a fascinating....person? Certainly not a thing, but more than human definitely.]

Good, yes, well. Follow me - I'm afraid it may be a rather boring walk. It's just around the road here, up on the third floor.

[Less than he was. Something's gone wrong with his tech, it's operating at half capacity... which he won't bring up. Irrelevant, they need to escape.]

[He nods again, walking quietly and unobtrusively beside Walter all the way.]

[It doesn't take long to get upstairs with the elevators now in place, but once there, Walter has to find the baking soda inside his fridge or wherever he put it. His living room is his laboratory, two doors from three of the bedrooms taken off their hinges to expand the size. There is, however, a couch hidden in among the tables and beakers and other equipment and Walter motions to it.]

Take a seat. I just need to remember where I put it.

[He starts humming to himself, finger bouncing in the air as he tries to recall this place's organizational system]

[How can he when there are things to check out? Give him a moment to note the details of the room, and naturally determine where Walter's baking soda is. The stuff he doesn't actually need, he's certainly not going to be sick now if the elevator didn't do it to him.]

There it is.

[Walter opens his eyes and looks to where September is indicating.]

Oh, so it is. I must have moved it last night when I was making something....

[He quickly shuffled over and picked up the container, going to the sink to get a glass of water and measure two teaspoons into the glass. He pauses for a moment, looks at the glass, and then adds a third, mixing it up before coming back to hand it to September.]

I hope it will help. I'm not certain of your tolerance.

[Neither is he. Down it goes.]

Thank you. Where is the information you have recorded?

[Wow that was fast. Walter watches in fascination as September drinks without a flinch or a moment's hesitation. There was still so much to learn about the Observers and what they were, how they did what they did, and - most importantly - why. But that wasn't important now. What was important was finding a way out.]

Ah, yes, the data!

[Walter turned and headed to one of his many tables, moving a glass beaker off a small stack of beige folders, each labelled with a subject number.]

Unfortunately, the residents here aren't as forthcoming with samples as I had hoped, but I was able to get a few. Only a few pieces of the puzzle, not enough to see the entire picture.

[Walter frowned and turned back, the folders clutched tightly in both hands.]

But now we're both here. Perhaps you can help convince the people here that their cooperation is necessary to the completion of this project. ...If you can help us, that is. I don't know-- I don't know how it is you do what you do.

[People need convincing? No one's curious about being kidnapped and experimented on, curious enough to search for answers? To him, that's odd behavior.]

[He reaches for the folders, flipping through them at incredible speed as he reads.]

I will do what I can. We cannot stay here. It is not where you belong.

I know... [He watches again, fascinated by the Observer's abilities. He'd heard this place dampened special powers to a certain level, but how was that affecting September?]

I have been told that time has stopped from the moment we are taken - but the consequences that such an action would take upon each universe and timeline... The damage must be catastrophic.

[He doesn't like it, the lessened and removed abilities. It's throwing him off, not that anyone can tell.]
