Test Flight Meme

the luceti test flight meme

Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for music? Try playing DJ at HQ, the new nightclub!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

For the right price, I can do anything well~!

[Or make the connections to find someone who can.]

Well then, if you can make a proper doughnut I'll be more than happy to work for you for them! I mean, what kind of work were you thinking of?

Well, I'm actually working on building my own shop here in Luceti. This place is unnatural enough with all these goods and services going about for free, and I'm here to put a stop to all that. I may not be able to convince the other local shops to start charging customers, or make people star having to actually use money, but someone has to start somewhere.

[She clears her throat, and then gives Vash her most charming smile.]

So the kind of work I'm looking for is for people to lend a hand with the actual construction of my store, and then one or two people to help me run the shop as well. You wouldn't happen to be a charming stranger who would actually be willing to work for a living would you?

Nope. Sorry, but I kinda like the system they got set up here! Helps cut down on stealing and such when there's nothing to steal!

Of course, I suppose until the store starts having food in it again I could be the kind of guy who's willing to work for food and doughnuts.

[Siiiiiiiigh.]

Somehow I just knew you'd say that... Some people just don't understand the importance of money and trade. I suppose though that's about as good as an offer as I'm going to get for the time being. What about if I'm the only place in Luceti that produces fresh doughnuts of the quality you want... then would you work for me?
goldenglasses: (He's not laughing. He's choking.)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2014-05-01 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry lady, but even back home I was a bit of a drifter. Didn't like to carry much cash on me as it only slowed me down and never kept a steady job. So I really never did see the importance of it besides a way to make a living. If people don't need money in order to survive then they can focus more on living and not surviving! Well, at least in this guy's opinion that's how it seems to me! [He laughs like a good intentioned idiot. Knowing he probably full well didn't understand it at all.]

And so long as you can supply the doughnuts and the only one who provides the quality ones I'll work for you!

Well I suppose for many of the little people that make up the world, that's probably just the way it is. I guess I can understand where you're coming from, and that's all fine well and good for those who don't have loftier ambitions.

[Anna takes a seat, suggesting Vash should do the same, seeing as this could take a while.]

You see though, money is much more important than just a means of keeping alive, it's a means of building an empire. People need motivation, incentive, drive to do better, become better, to create better! It is this very same sense of competition that creates the best of the best achieving new heights of grandeur than ever before!

Let's use doughnuts as an example since you seem so fond of them. Well let's say Honest Joe's is the only doughnut shop in town and his doughnuts are... okay, but they could be so much better! Now where's the incentive for him to ever improve? People still come and eat there, and let's say he's doing so here in Luceti so he's doing it just for fun. Now, let's suppose boring Steve secretly has the capacity for finest doughnut made in the world, but he just doesn't feel like making doughnuts because he doesn't have to. Enter in money.

If boring steve has to work to get things he wants, let's not say food since that's required to stay alive, but let's say he has a prized collection of wood carvings from happy Alex. However he wants more from Alex, but Alex just doesn't feel like making more. Enter money. With the need or want for more, money can help wake people up, take action, and start working to build better, create better, invent, strive, dream, thrive, and create the finest of the finest of the most beautiful things you've ever seen!

Suddenly, Honest Jon has competition for doughnut making from Boring Steve because he's making doughnuts now, and they're competing for customers! The quality of the doughnuts as a result starts to sky rocket as they go back and forth to try to out do one another! Happy Alex starts producing more beautiful wood carvings so he can get rum from clever Jack, who in turn wants to get doughnuts from boring Steve or honest Jon! Thus my friend is greatness achieved!

It's all well and good to have the key essentials of life provided for us, like food, water, air, a place to eat and sleep. However, if money is introduced into the picture, people can strive for so much more than they could ever have before without it. That is how great art is born, and that is but one of the many reasons money is important!

[If Anna had a soap box, she'd be preaching from atop it right now.]

[Vash claps and his face looks like he's certainly impressed. Although, it's that type of impressed where clearly the person has been using big words or something that the other person hasn't been able to follow. So while he knows he SHOULD be impressed... he just isn't sure why.]

But... what if people just try to do their very best ever day! Seems pretty good to me!

Aww, you're so cute. Innocent, naive, perhaps a little misguided in your idealistic assumptions, but absolutely cute nonetheless.

[Anna pats Vash on his spiky haired head as though he were a small child or a puppy.]

If everyone always tried their best everyday, money wouldn't have come into existence in the first place. They need more motivation than simply seeing their work come to fruition, and that's one of the many reasons money is so important. I'd love to see a world where everyone always tried their hardest, where everyone always gave each other everything they could ever want without needing to bribe one another, but call me a realist, a pessimist, or simply crazy, but I don't believe that's possible.

Without money you're all simply working on the bartering system, whether you realize it or not, you're doing favors for one another and whenever you need an additional favor? You likely bring up all those other favors you've done for them for free up until now. Money smooths out the rough edges of all these silly favors, I owe yous, and bartering, and gives a quantitative factor that can be used much more easily.
goldenglasses: (Who knew katchup saves lives?)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2014-05-10 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I don't think I've bartered all that much with people. I get food for free all the time at Seventh Heaven! It's great! Although I suppose I do a small part in trying to keep Luceti safe and I'll help out when I can, but I do it because I want to. Not because I feel like I have to pay them back!
