Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

[Luke closed his eyes, swallowed again, and let his own smile widen into something more like one of Anakin's grins. He'd never quite mastered Han's, but he could affect a proper imitation when he needed to. And right now he felt like he should probably be doing everything he could to make this situation as least awkward as possible. And that did mean getting straight to the point and shooing the bantha out of the room and back to it's pen.]

Yeah...you can say that again.

[Shaking his head, he huffed a soft laugh and just said it straight out. He'd never had Leia's gift for diplomacy, after all.]

I'm sorry. I...have an idea of who you might be. But could you go ahead and tell me? I know that there's a connection, but I'm afraid this is another case of shifting timelines.

[ Ben bit his lip a moment, trying to think of a way to be blunt but express how important this was. He wished he could fall back on making it into a joke, but he owed his dad, however old, more than that. ]

You're my father.

[ Wait--. The moment it was out of his mouth, Ben glanced over at the also-young Anakin Skywalker, realizing that the phrasing might be emotionally resonant for all the wrong reasons. Just when I thought it was impossible to make this any more awkward. ]

[Even expecting something shocking and significant, hearing those words from someone is enough to leave even the Jedi Grandmaster poleaxed for a moment. It definitely made sense, now that the words were out. Ben’s eyes, his presence, everything about him practically screamed Skywalker, and deep down Luke had just sort of known. There wasn’t any real need for him to debate it, the Force confirming what he’d already begun to suspect.

Still, he just needed a moment. Taking a few deep breaths, he stood in silence, letting the Force flow through him, calm him and reinforce his mental barriers. There was still more than a small amount of surprise there, but there was another emotion beginning to swell within him. Joy. Pure, undiluted joy. He had a son? A son who’d become a Jedi, clearly. A son who was strong in the Force, and who very clearly had a close connection with him. The shock melted away, and he just grinned.]

I…see. It’s very nice to meet you then. I apologize whole-heartedly for not knowing what to make of this, but this place is...well, it’s complicated. Extremely complicated, as I’m sure you’ve guessed.

[Of course, it brought up another question. One that might lead to some other awkward ones, especially given his relationship here in Luceti: The question of parentage. After all, it took two, and Luke was willing to bet that the dark haired Ami Mizuno was not the mother of this youth. The hair and freckles gave him a hint…but surely no...no it couldn’t be.]

Before I start in on that explanation, can I ask you two questions? The first is…what’s your name? And the second is probably pretty obvious. Who...exactly...is your mother?

[ The knot of anxiety that had settled in Ben's stomach finally started to ease. This place was still a mystery, and space-time had clearly suffered some serious distortion -- but the sense of family, and closeness, and happiness were a candle in the darkness. And this particular family had spent the last several decades restoring order and balance to crazy situations. If that candle wasn't enough to push the darkness back yet, it would be. ]

Ben, [ he said, with a little smile, and gave that homage a moment to sink in before continuing. He tugged lightly at a lock of his red-gold hair. ] And -- just think about it a minute. I know you didn't date that many smart-mouthed redheads.

[Luke blinked for a moment, trying to think of just who...

Oh.

Oh...

Oh kriff]

Mara?! Mara Jade? She's your mother?

[ Ben grinned at the reaction, and nodded. He knew his parents hadn't had anything like a conventional romance, between the Emperor's last command, the miscellaneous misadventures with clone, and Mara's initial choice to stay with Talon Karrde's organization even while Luke had been trying to rebuild the Order. ]

I feel like I just spoiled the end of a holodrama.

[Luke shakes his head, grinning as he does so...but also struggling to wrap his head around it. Mara? And him? And...Mara?! He'd never considered it, and he'd never thought of her that way. And yet here was Ben, proof that apparently he had. Or would.]

Heh, maybe in a way. Mara and I aren't anything close to that way in my time. We're friends, though, so it's not that much of a shock.

[He pauses, rubbing the back of his neck, suddenly embarrassed.]

This place does all sorts of strange things to time, if it wasn't obvious. So...uh...the last big thing I remember from home was General Madine's funeral.

I'm glad you remember her.

[ His voice was warm but wistful. It had been four years since he had sat vigil over his mother's body on Kavan; two years since that rare chance to see her in the Lake of Apparitions. He shook his head slightly and dispelled those thoughts; this Luke had decades with Mara, and Ben wouldn't cast a shadow over that by revealing things that would happen twenty years from now. He'd move this conversation along before he could get bogged down in melancholy memories. ]

So you're... wow, about thirty?

[ That seemed like a good range, based on Ben's gauge of this Luke's appearance and what he remembered about Crix Madine's death having something to do with Hutts. Ben gave a low whistle. ]

Stang, that's younger than Jaina.

[Alright, some part of him thinks it's a little odd, thinking of Mara as a wife, of having a teenaged son, and of Jaina being in her thirties...but with all the screwy time-related troubles going on in Luceti and after three years of putting up with an Anakin a decade younger than him it just rolls off.

Another awkward part of Luceti.]

I actually just turned thirty two.

[He pauses, not sure he wants to know, but this much at least can't be too bad.]

How far into the future are you from me? And...how old are you?
