Scenario A - [Action]

[If you decide to head out for a walk today you might spot someone in a rather unusual place - that is, there seems to be a winged boy halfway up a tree, supposedly heading for that large bird's nest on a nearby branch. A branch that appears sturdy enough at first glance, but with added weight on it, who knows if it'll stay intact or not?

Either way, the boy isn't giving up! He has wings now after all so he'll be fine if he falls, right?]

Scenario B - [Video]

[In an entirely different scenario, you might find said boy on a video feed, holding onto a flowerpot with a single sunflower growing in it. Or at least it was supposed to be growing... the flower actually didn't look all that healthy - the leaves had wilted and the head drooped as if tired. Naturally, he didn't seem too happy about it.]

Um... does anyone know anything about growing flowers? This one isn't doing so well...

[The branch is definitely groaning under the pressure and Lucas has paused for now, sensing the danger. To be honest, he's not sure if he can get it, and he definitely doesn't want to fall... but he can see that badge shining as the light hits it and he needs to get it back, one way or another. Maybe he should have tried throwing something, but on the other hand he didn't want to ruin the bird's nest... his PSI didn't seem to be working right now either, at least not well enough to be useful.

Lucas is about to gather his courage and go for it, when the boy below offers some assistance. He does chance a glance in his direction, assuming Pikachu must be that animal with him. He did look pretty nimble, perhaps he could help if it wasn't too much trouble.]

You'd do that? This branch does seem pretty weak...

Of course! [ Nod! Won't you, Pikachu? And there's a nod back from the little mouse who begins to climb up the tree with much more ease than Lucas likely had. ]

Do you think you can get down?

[Oh right, getting back down... He hadn't really planned ahead for that, but it shouldn't be too hard right? He slowly steps back to the trunk and peers down. It was... kind of a long way and suddenly he felt his stomach sink.]

I think so...

[He doesn't sound too sure about that but he has to get down somehow, so he takes a seat before starting to lower himself down. When he's perched safely on the branch below (after a momentary wobble), he looks across to Pikachu as he climbs.]

Oh! If you want to know what I lost... there's a badge in there, with a lightning bolt on the front. You'll know it when you see it.

[ You know, there was something about how the situation looked that made Red decide against what the other boy thought. He grabs a pokéball from his belt, resizing it at a click of the button in his hand.

Pikachu meanwhile nods at the exchange, scarping up to the branch that Lucas had before inhabited. And as for Red... ]

I've got a friend who'll grab you and bring you down if you stay there. [ ah, just in case ] Can you close your eyes?

Close my eyes? Why?

[He's at least staying put at that offer, but somehow he's not sure if closing his eyes up here would really be the best idea. What if he lost his balance? What was he going to do with that ball, throw it up to him?

...on the other hand, he did mention a friend. Another animal like Pikachu perhaps?]

Are they shy?

Yeah. Especially around strangers. [ What's a little lie just to be safe? ] But she can reach really far, so once I bring her out, she can grab you and let you touch the ground.

[ It might be asking a lot from a stranger, but... ]

I promise we're not going to do anything weird. Will you trust me?

[ As for Pikachu, climbing branches is no biggie when you're as small and light as him! Ohhh, this badge is pretty... ]

[He was already trusting him with an object that was important to him. Trusting him with his safety, and ultimately his life, was quite a bit more scary, but somehow Lucas could tell that the boy meant it when he said he wouldn't do anything weird. He just wanted to help, right?

So he gives a small nod, and making sure he was still by the trunk so he at least had something to lean on, he closes his eyes.]

Okay... I'm ready. [Don't mind him if he's a little tense though!]

[ Yes, please don't move - that's essential here. Red isn't surprised by how Lucas seems, so let's not dilly dally around.

He points the pokéball to the ground beside him, and in a light that may flash at the side of Lucas's eyelids, out comes Venusaur with a shake of her flower, the faint smell of something soothing drifting around her. Red points upwards right away. ]

Get him down.

[ There's a small deep sound, and right after that will come the feeling of something small, slim, multiple wrapping around Lucas's waist. ]

That's my friend grabbing you now! [ Should he say what the boy's feeling right now are just multiple ropes and please believe that? No, let's not bother. Not going to freak out or open your eyes though, are you? ]

[The flash of light does little to help Lucas relax. He had no idea what that was just now but all he can do is shut his eyes tighter and hope whatever's going to happen next won't hurt. Though something did suddenly start to smell really nice... It reminded him a little of the scent of the sunflower fields he'd found himself lost in some time ago. An oddly nostalgic smell, though one that sent a sad twinge through his heart...

...which soon became a feeling of surprise as he felt something... somethings wrapping around his body like smooth tendrils. Oh no, were they trying to tie him up??

Without really thinking, his eyes snap open at that and he suddenly realises that he is being held. By some kind of... dinosaur? Flower? For some reason, Lucas looks kind of saddened by it.]

Is that... some kind of chimera?

[ And then they took Lucas off to their lair.

No, there's no tying up and doing that. But thankfully the boy didn't become so relaxed or distracted to suddenly fall -- which fortunately wouldn't have happened beyond a small dip with Venusaur holding tightly (comfortably so) onto him. She gives him a nudge for him to let go of the tree, and if he does then she'll bring him down. ]

She's called Venusaur. They're just vines on you, they won't hurt. [ He's happy that the guy didn't freak out at the sight of her anyway. ]

[Nuuu! Oh wait, that didn't happen.

He's seen a loooot of strange creatures though so the sight of this Venusaur wasn't too freak-out inducing to him, though she might be more intimidating up close. She seemed to be trying to tell him something too... and it's then he realises he's still holding onto that tree as if it might save him from whatever terrible things might have been about to happen!]

Ah, sorry! [He says before tentatively removing his hand from the trunk and waiting for the vines to do their work. He can't help but give a little cry of surprise as she lifts him, but they're sturdy and she's gentle enough not to crush him.

He'll give a sigh of relief as he touches the ground. Thank goodness for boys with strange creatures, right?]

Thanks... [He takes a moment to calm down, waiting for Pikachu to return. Although wait, something didn't add up here.] Huh? Where did Venusaur come from? She wasn't there a moment ago. It was just you and Pikachu, wasn't it?

[ She's indeed as careful as she can be bringing him down, waiting a little once his feet are on the ground before her vines unravel from him and snake back underneath her large leaves.

And then Red chuckles at the question, hands curled up into fists with one still holding the pokéball, which he then holds out to show. ] She was inside this! It's magic, and don't worry, they're safe and harmless!

[ He's told this other guy not to worry a lot so far, but it's best to say it all before it's asked and pondered. As for Pikachu, he's down after making sure the bird nest is going to be fine (actually, he's not sure if it will be...), the badge sitting between his teeth that he lifts up onto his back legs to present to Lucas. ]

[A magic ball? Okay, that was new, but he did know of magic at least so he could take Red's word for it! Besides the animal didn't seem to be unwell or unhappy at all, so she couldn't be that opposed to the idea of being kept inside the thing.]

So... you can use magic?

[In a way at least. Which meant that it still existed here, even if it didn't look anything like home.

Though Lucas is then distracted by the appearance of Pikachu, holding up the badge to him. He takes it carefully before reaching out and giving him a gentle pet between the ears and offering a smile.]

Thanks, Pikachu!

[One second before he tries to polish it up a bit with his hand. There's a lightning bolt right in the center that glints as the boy inspects it and the words 'Franklin Badge' around the edge.]

Sure, but I learnt magic here, not back home. This is magical science. [ He turns the ball in his hand in indication

Pikachu accepts the pet very happily! And squeaks at the thanks, returning afterwards back over to his team mates where he decides to climb on top of Venusaur's back. ]

I'm Red, by the way. Sorry I told you she was shy. [ He looks to Venusaur. ] I didn't know if you'd get scared if you saw her and fall off, so that's why I said it.

[Magic and science were two things Lucas wasn't sure went together, particularly due to his own experience of the two... but this guy wasn't from the same place as him, was he? Maybe in his world, the two really did work together. Was that possible?

In any case, introductions were in order! Looking at the other boy's clothes, he can't help but be a bit amused by the name.]

Red? I'm Lucas. [He looks to Venusaur at the explanation too.] Animals aren't really that scary once you get to know them. Well, some of them are... but she seems friendly enough. [That flower was still bothering him though.] Was she really born that way?

Sure she was! [ He doesn't say it meaning to lie, until he thinks about it some more. ] Well, not exactly like that - she grew up. She used to be smaller and have a green bulb on her back. You know, like an unopened flower.

[ Best way to explain it in his mind. Red then nods to Lucas's hand. ]

How about your thing? Is it from back home?

[Huh... so as a baby she shared the traits of a young plant and then the flower grew with her? That made sense he supposed, and led him to believe that perhaps this really was a natural occurrence after all. It was actually pretty cool if that was the case!

As for the 'thing', at Red's question, Lucas holds up the badge so he can get a better look.]

Mm, it was a gift from my dad... he called it a 'Courage Badge' but a friend of mine cleaned it up and now it looks like this.

[He hadn't yet come to realise it's potential of being a reflector of electricity, but it was pretty nice as a badge all the same.]

[ Just without the Mother logo, right. ]

Huh... it looks like he went somewhere good and got it! [ He nods his head. ] It must've meant something important to him.

[ And in turn, to Lucas. Pikachu takes the moment while the two talk to speak to Venusaur, pointing out to the tree as he does, which Saur looks up to. Hmm, she sees what he's talking about...

Saur brings out a single vine, bumping the tip on Red's shoulder to make him look to her. When he does, with a 'huh?', she sends out the vine upwards, and then Pikachu squeaks, making a motion like he's breaking something between his paws, and then chirping bird sounds.

UHH... ]

Are you worried about the bird nest? [ Ding ding! Saur brings out another vine and sits them in the air with the tips close to each other, and she moves them as if lifting and placing an invisible object onto a higher shelf. ]

[It was definitely important, given that his dad had done whatever he could to ensure it got to him while he was still out in the mountains. As a memento or something more... Lucas didn't want to lose it. If anything, it was a link to the remaining fragments of his family.

He might have said more, but then it seemed like Pikachu and Venusaur had something on their mind instead. Judging by their motions and Red's words, it seemed like they shared his own concerns about the nest. While it's apparent Venusaur wants the nest moved, the boy's also wondering about Pikachu's little charade.]

There weren't any eggs in there, were there? Or baby birds?

[If his PSI wasn't so weak here he might have been able to communicate better with the little guy.]

[ Pikachu looks to Lucas, then nods, pi piiing before turning back to Red. ]

It shouldn't hurt if we move it up one, right? They won't notice!

[ And he gives Venusaur a signal to go ahead, and the pokémon begins lifting up her vines up above, taking a step back as she does so to keep an eye on what she's doing. If Lucas has no problem with any of this, she'll take that bird nest and caaarefuully raise it a level onto the next branch...! ]
