Reserves are open and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

[A world without money? Perish the thought!!! Anna was going stark raving mad without the lifeblood of trade and commerce that there's supposed to be. Everyone in this place seemed to be working on a bartering system, or worse, got everything for free! Sure they were being experimented on by scientists, but don't they know how unhealthy it is to have a world without commerce?! Of course... that's all changed now that the grocery store seems to be out of food... She always knew her hoarding habits might come in handy if the scientists pulled something like this.]

Fresh produce for sale~! Get your fresh produce from Anna, and I promise you the price is always right! Now accepting gold, silver, copper, or any other valuables in exchange! Don't starve just because the program says you should, get your freeesh produce here~! Don't have any valuables? Not to worry! We need working hands to get Anna's Emporium up and running! I'll give you a whole bag of groceries for a day's work, so come one, come all!

[Jack hadn't been here for long, but he knew a few of the basics about how the place was run. Naturally he was rather surprised to see that all the food at the grocery store seemed to have disappeared but hearing the announcement not too far away, it looked like he might have found the culprit behind it.

He's not especially happy to see what's going on either. Nor is he afraid to tell this peddler about it.]

Hey, the food here is supposed to be free, for everyone! You can't just take it all and sell it right back to them. The last thing this place needs is a resident extortionist.

Extortion is such a harsh word, I prefer to think of it as resourceful bargaining~! Besides, do you think I really robbed that grocery store of all its goods? This here is but a small portion from my own private stock, it was the scientists that cleaned the place out.

[Those Malnosso guys? Were they really going to stoop so low as to rob them of their food now? He really didn't trust them; just what was it they were up to?]

If you're telling the truth then you should be sharing this around. This isn't a luxury, this is a necessity we're talking about. People shouldn't have to give up their precious things just because they need to eat.

[Honestly, he had to wonder if she'd try and pull this off in his own world where everyone was working hard just to survive.]

Now wait just a minute here! Why should I turn into a charity service just because people didn't squirrel away goods like I have? I had the foresight to stock these in case of emergency, so it seems only fair that people should in turn, repay my foresight by exchanging goods and services with me.

[Anna gives him quite the pout at this guilt trip he's trying to lay on her.]

Besides, it could be that they're simply rationing us for the time being.

Excuse me if I don't applaud you for taking advantage of those who weren't as quick thinking as you.

[No pouting, missy, he's still not letting you off that easily.]

And if they were rationing us then they would have left something behind, right? Unless you really did take everything they had on offer. [He sighs.] Look, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with asking people to work for you or trade with you, but what if they can't? You'll just leave them to starve? What would you do with the goods anyway if you don't have to pay for anything here?

Look buster, all I know is the grocery store was out of food when I got here, I didn't steal anything. Now as to your question about whether or not people have things or goods for trade, I'm not completely heartless you know. As far as I know there isn't anyone Luceti too sickly, elderly, or young that they can't lend a helping hand, and people can feel free to pawn whatever they have for valuables to me, and work towards getting their goods back. People can help those who cannot help themselves, and I'll offer discount rates depending on the situation.

[Anna pokes her finger towards his chest, but stops just short of actually touching him.]

Now listen here, I'm a merchant. My mother was a merchant, my sisters, cousins, and aunts are all merchants, and so help me the unnatural way this world has worked has gone on far too long! It's unnatural I tell you! So I'm going to open a shop here, whether or not you people think it's crazy, moral, or fair!

[Woah, woah, woah, someone's feeling rather burned all of a sudden, huh? He raises his hands in defense as her finger strikes out at him, trying to calm the situation. Though he can't help but smirk a little. She certainly had a strong will, he'd give her that.]

Geez, calm down lady, no need to get all indignant about it! So, you're saying you can't stand to see a place that's giving away their items for free? You really take your job seriously, don't you?

[Jack still couldn't say that he approved of holding this food to ransom but on the bright side, at least it would give him something to do around here. Even if everything was free here, he knew he couldn't allow himself to become complacent about things. Once he got back to Filgaia he'd have to fight for his money again, not to mention the more dangerous foes he would be facing. He seems to mull over it for a while longer before simply asking.]

What kind of help do you need? If it's something I can put a sword to then maybe we can arrange something.

[Sorry Jack, you're about to be ignored for a moment here, because Anna's merchant senses are tingling and she spots... A THEIF!!

Jumping over her stall, and pulling out a sword from hidden beneath her cloak, Anna works her arm around the boy who was about to flee so that the sword would be pressed up against his throat, not quite touching since she doesn't want to hurt him if she doesn't have to.]

And where do you think you're going valued customer? We haven't discussed the matter of payment yet. These berries didn't grow in the wild you know.

And to answer your question blondie, the kind of help I need, might just include you now. I prefer not getting violent if I don't have to, so perhaps you could be so kind as to help guard my goods for the day.

He's not pointing it at the boy though but rather seems to be keeping his eyes trained on Anna as he directs his attention to the both of them. She might not like violence but Jack doesn't trust her not to change her mind. Still, he doesn't make a move. With her sword that close to Rudy's throat, one slip and...]

Well you can't get everything in this world for free you know. I put a lot of hard work into storing these goods and keeping them fresh and safe from all harm. There's the matter of equivalent exchange? Surely this isn't the first time you've ever heard of the concept of buying and selling.

[Anna's definitely starting to wonder how these people ever managed to get by in the first place.]

Now since I know some people don't have the funds to purchase my goods, for a limited time only I'm offering my produce in exchange for simply a helping hand. I need to build a new store after all, with my name in big bold red letters at the top. For too long people in this bizarre little place have been expecting to get everything served to them for free on a silver platter.

Well, they might be a little stale but I do have one or two nice frosted doughnuts? Or if you can make it worth my while, I have some danishes that I might be willing to part with. They're about as good as doughnuts.

He was just about to say just that when she dared to try to say that danishes are just as good as doughnuts!] WHAT!? Same as doughnuts!? Are you crazy!? Danishes are a poor replacement for doughnuts! Danishes can't do that!

Well, I'm actually working on building my own shop here in Luceti. This place is unnatural enough with all these goods and services going about for free, and I'm here to put a stop to all that. I may not be able to convince the other local shops to start charging customers, or make people star having to actually use money, but someone has to start somewhere.

[She clears her throat, and then gives Vash her most charming smile.]

So the kind of work I'm looking for is for people to lend a hand with the actual construction of my store, and then one or two people to help me run the shop as well. You wouldn't happen to be a charming stranger who would actually be willing to work for a living would you?
