Alright, I get it. So the journal is some sort of half-book half-iPad technomagical means of communicating, and this place gives you wings. [ A beat. ] There's -- there's a cheesy Red Bull ad in there somewhere, but I'm not going there.

[ She clears her throat. ]

I'm -- my name is Jane Foster. I'm a astrophysicist with SHIELD, if that means anything to anyone. -- Please tell me it means something to someone. For once I'd be happy to put up with all their obfuscation and bureaucratic red tape and smug, irritating agents if it meant I was home. Working.

Do -- the people who bring us here, do they even care when or how or ... anything about the time they bring us from? I was on the verge of discovering -- something incredible, maybe the answer to all their problems -- I mean, assuming they want people to go home. What do I know? Maybe they don't!

[And 'shifting' is a piss poor answer, considering none of the villagers know anything about that magical brand of science.]

...Not explicitly. But I don't exactly plan on things like that.

Well, I hate to be the one to break this to you, Miss Jane Astrophysicist, but your precious laws of physics? Kind of going to get dashed to pieces in this place.

Whoa--hold your horses, let's back this up a bit and start with an explanation of who Loki is.
