it's time once again for a...test drive meme!
Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!
▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).
Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:
o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.
Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.
Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

It would seem that being in this place, though making no logical sense, is an unfortunate reality. The complete and sudden absence of all my science equipment makes this situation rather more difficult than I had originally thought. This establishment appears to be similar to that of a Terran 'bar', perhaps if I try to 'blend in', interacting with the locals will perhaps give me an answer to my current... predicament.
[carefully sips water from glass, eyes occasionally studying the movement around the bar]

Most he knew were not so tall. Nor were they so fine boned. The ears have it, and that is proof enough for him.]
You seem a bit lost, my friend.
no subject
Your familiarity is unwarranted, however you assessment is correct. Not long ago I found myself suddenly outside of this establishment without any of my equipment and no explanation. Perhaps you can tell me where we are? I have yet to interact with any of the locals. Though, I am curious, may I inquire as to your species of origin?
no subject
[Definitely not an elf. Unless he's a very foreign, very odd Tranquil. Zevran orders himself a glass of brandy and while waiting, turns to better face the not-elf.]
You are in Luceti, a strange little village with, quite literally, a little of everything in terms of it's inhabitants. Specifically we are in Good Spirits, you are interacting with a local right now, and I'm an elf. I take it that you are not one yourself despite your misleading ears for I have never met one quite so...flat.
no subject
Fascinating, and yet also disturbing as I do not know how I came to be here. Kadi'ith....
[stares at the elf, most pointedly at his ears...]
I must admit I am intrigued by your species claim... I have been accused of being part of such a race. Though mainly dealing with Terrans on a regular basis, the accusation was illogical due to the fantastical nature of such a species. Are you aware of the Vulcan race?
no subject
Honestly I do not see how one could accuse you of being an elf, you are too tall, your bone structure too fine, your mannerisms too stiff, and you lack the quaint charm of my race. Then again, so do most city elves.
[He lifts a shoulder and sips his brandy contemplating the last question. Vulcan. In all his time listening and studying, he'd heard nothing of the race. Pity.]
If that is what you are, then I am very much aware of one now. And would not mind being made further aware.
no subject
Fascinating, then I will consider myself fortunate that I managed to appear outside of this establishment.
I am amenable to giving you a history of my Vulcan ancestry, however, perhaps now is not the ideal time. Perhaps instead you could tell me who you are and whether or not Luceti is a transitional place? What is the amount of time one is expected to spend here? What is the purpose?
[continues to fidget with his glass of water]

Challenge Accepted.]
I am Zevran Arainai, and much like yourself I am but a random acquisition of this village. It does that, you see, in cycles. There is a very informative guide in a book that should have appeared close to wherever it was you woke upon your arrival here with your name on the front. All of your questions and quite a few more will be answered there.

[looks down and appears as sheepish as a Vulcan can...] I may not have been completely forthcoming regarding my appearance here. If you will excuse me, if what you say is true about the book, I will return in approximately 2.30 minutes.
[Spock rises from the bar stool with cat-like grace and exits the establishment. He returns, book in hand, approximately 2.30 minutes later and takes his place once again at the bar stool. He gives his attention to Zevran...]
It would seem that the nature of my appearance made it highly unlikely to find anything that would have been addressed to my person. This resource should prove very helpful, I express my gratitude.
[looks at the book and starts flipping through it, reading at an amazing speed.... it should only take him a few extra minutes to finish the whole thing... not like he is trying to avoid Zevran or anything....]

Keeping his head down...]
Though highly illogical, I now comprehend the situation. I confess however that it is probable I may have concerned some of the local inhabitants in the process of retrieving this book.

Her personality, now...well, he's about to find out exactly how unusual she is firsthand, because she's currently approaching him with a warm, welcoming smile.]
Hello. Isn't it a nice day?
<3
Greetings, I am Spock. I acknowledge that the nature of the conditions outside are considered agreeable by most beings, however "nice" is a matter of personal opinion. If you are looking for my own opinion I have none beyond the fact that the temperature is lower than optimal. [Spock is, after all, only in a pair of white pants... Vulcans like to be warm.]
<3!
After a pause, she says:] Oh, are you a little cold?
Re: <3!!
In answer to your question, yes, I am experiencing temperatures which are not favourable to my anatomy.
What is your name?
[Spock tries to suppress an oncoming shiver, but is unsuccessful.]
<3!!
I'm Grune! It's very nice to meet you. What's your name?
[My, he really does look cold. They should find him something warm to wear very soon.]
Re: :3!
I am Spock. Do you know where I might find suitable garments?
:3?
[She gives him an encouraging smile.]
Re: ^_^
[Spock gets up from his stool and stands at attention next to Grune. He waits patiently with his hands clasped behind his back, stiff and imposing (normal Vulcan look). Compared with Grune's 5'9", Spock's 6'2" gives him a towering look.]
^_^
Oh, no, I don't mind at all!
[Grune usually wears heeled boots, but even if she didn't, poor Spock wouldn't be too towering to her--not when she has several friends approaching seven feet tall.
And here is where Spock's apprehension is justified, because Grune? Is holding out her hand for him to take. Yes.]
Re: ^_^
I... appreciate the gesture, however I hope you do not take offense if I do not follow through with such an action. I am a touch telepath, therefore my hands are... sensitive. I will merely follow you to our destination.
[This is about as placating as a Vulcan can get...]
^_^
[She leads him to the door--slowly.]
Re: ^_^;
^_^;
Re: ^_^;
[Spock looks at Grune and asks...] Do you have a permanent residence in this place?
[A/N: I can't wait for Grune to dress Spock... XD]
^_^;;
[OOC: This should definitely be good. :Db]
