Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test flight for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

I haven't heard any rumors, to be honest. The book that I woke up with next to me is still in my bag, after three days. I'm not...A part of me is just trying to process that it's real and that I won't wake up home, you know?

[The bartender comes over and she orders a shot of bourbon.]

He's a good kid, so I'm not surprised.

[Cliff orders a cold beer. Best thing for a late summer afternoon.]

Yea, I get that. It was hard to believe at first but....heh. Walking through the snow with nothing but a bedsheet keeping you warm is one helluva welcome.

[And the fact that they landed on a recreation of Styx.

That was just wrong.]

[She throws back the liquor, hissing through her teeth lowly at the bite.]

I guess mine was a bit better. Although, waking up on the beach in a thin white dress that I'd never seen before and to discover wings, no matter the weather, is disconcerting.

[She doesn't know Styx, Cliff. Please explain?]

[Nope. Never. Not unless it specifically comes up. Besides, he doesn't know that Nel doesn't know that yet, you know?]

Ain't that always gonna be the case. Though, it's a nice change from waking up to being strapped in a leather harness.

[Damn Aeriglyph and their damned restraints.]

Yes, well, let's just hope there's a 'hot chick' to save your skin next time that happens. I'm sure that's not always the case.

[Her appearance was a mixed blessing. On one hand, no one needed to be in this world. On the other, Nel was a valuable ally and friend.]

I suppose that depends on your definition of lucky, Cliff. I seem to remember the last time I gave you an ultimatum that you didn't really enjoy much.

[She looks at him seriously, all teasing traces gone that quickly.]

What can you tell me about this place?

Where do you want me to begin? No one has the same opinion about this place, but I can try to clear a few things up for you.

I'd like your opinion about this place, first of all. I don't know the others, so their theories are secondary at the moment.

Also, is there anything important I should know before I read this journal thing in my bag?

Alright, the basics. We're stuck in a crazy little town that's under a bubble and is on a crazy little world. It's wacky. The town has regular communication with an organization whose members call themselves the Malnosso...but, really? They're a bunch of bureaucrats and scientists. They have problems of some kind too, and we're sometimes called out to be soldiers for them.

Oh, and don't mind any of the craziness that happens here. It's probably their fault. Just run with it.

The book? Uh. It won't eat you. I don't think you can really get rid of it though, so don't waste your energy trying.

This is almost as bad as the conversation that we had when I found out you and the others weren't from Greeton, Cliff. [She tries to muster up a smile, but it doesn't completely reach her eyes.] Since you've been here a while, can I assume that getting back to our world isn't easy?

I have no intention of getting rid of it. I just don't have a place to keep it so that I can go through it.

[Cliff ran a hand through his hair. So she was that far along, at least. His job was a little easier with her knowing that he was more than just a foreign engineer. But, what else was there?

Rather than asking directly, he decided to wait and see what she told him.]

There's lots of people that aren't from Greeton, Nel. Besides the three of us, no one else has heard of it. Seeing as some of these people have been here for years? I doubt that there's a way back to our worlds that doesn't cost a few lives, if there even is one.

It's best to make yourself comfy for a while. Fayt and I have a few rooms in one of the community buildings here. The floor's open, so you can take a room yourself and leave your stuff there.

Bed's included in the package. And a shower. It ain't so bad, really.

It's the best one you're gonna find. You might even like these beds better than the ones in Aquaria, even if they're not quite as good as the ones on the Diplo.

[She's not so familiar with Cliff's facial expressions that she understands what's going on.]

[Yea, but it wasn't going to be easy.]

I'm not sure if anyone told you yet, but time acts a little funny here. Even though you come from one point, the other people can come from somewhere before or after what you remember.

It's a little weird, and we have no real way of explaining it. It's just a little thing about this place that we've gotta accept.

[It's about as much sense as being taken from home and waking up here and no one realizing she was gone.] So, I can assume safely that you're from a point in the future from the last thing I remember?

It's certainly sounding like it.

[Although not by terribly much. He knew things that were going to be difficult for her, but Fayt knew them better. There would need to be a discussion...but not now.]

[She nods and orders another drink. She'll ask questions later, when they aren't sitting in a very public bar.]

Have you and Fayt noticed that your powers are diminished here?

[Cliff, not one to actually drink, was still just nursing that first glass. He liked it, but this was an important discussion with a friend and comrade. He didn't want it ruined by a buzz.

He shrugged in reply to her question.]

Fayt's still got his Symbols, I've still got my fists. That hasn't changed, but we've only really needed them that one time we were out of town for a week. [Fighting a war that wasn't their's, no less.] I don't think the same restrictions are in place out there.

[She'd learned that she had a high tolerance for alcohol back home, but she didn't indulge very often because she liked to be one hundred percent when she was out in the field. Since she wasn't there, she wanted to relax a little. But, she'd stop after this one and drink it slower.]

So, you don't have to fight here in the village then? That's good. [She nodded, feeling the warmth of the alcohol in her belly.] I'll admit that I'm not really used to peace, so this should be interesting.

[It wasn't anything about tolerance for Cliff, but preference. He'd be able to drink most people under the table if he wanted-- he just didn't want to.]

It's....different, for sure. [He took another sip of his beer, just enjoying the simplicity of it.] To be honest, I haven't had this much downtime in a good few years.

[She smiled at him.]

I can't really tell the difference from you right now and you when you're on "active" duty for Maria, to be honest. Which, I guess, is a good thing in the long run.
