Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

"...For mental superiority, perhaps." A thoughtful pause. "If this cap truly is in place, I'm not sure I'm impressive enough to activate it myself. Oh, the joys of being average."

Not that she felt average. Not that she was average, by a number of standards. But in a town were so many seemed eager to establish themselves as this or that badass, Claire was happy to kick up few fusses.

He folded his hands behind his head and leaned back in his chair.

"Personally, I'm excited about this average thing. My life would've been a lot simpler back home with Iron Man around."

Saving the world was hard. And it hurt. And there was absolutely no money in it.

He was so relaxed! And certainly, by most measures, she was hardly tense. But rather than sprawl about in her relaxation, she draped forward. Elbows on the table. Chin on her knuckles.

"I suspect many would say the same. But I'm still a little wary of saviours in suits, you know?"

It wasn't that she resented their power or their ability to help. By all accounts, the above-average crowd in Luceti seemed to do a lot of good for their fellow man. But Claire was acutely aware of how much she didn't want to depend entirely on strange heroes.

When it came down to it, Nathan wasn't interested in saving the world for the sake of being a hero. He just had the unfortunate luck of being often in situations where no one else could. Being the only man for the job was an unenviable position and he felt absolutely no remorse to have that position removed.

"You prefer them in tights?"

"Body armour, actually. Preferably the kind that comes standard issue with a very classy side-arm."

[blokeraider]

"You just described the opposite of what I tend to imagine saviors to look like."

That described the kind of guys he had to kill. A lot.

"Blame my brother. Every girl thinks her big brother is her own personal superhero, I think. And mine just happens to frequently wear the olive drab, if you catch my drift."

Although she implied military, she didn't outright say it. The BSAA wasn't simply a military outfit, and her faith in Chris was rooted in something long before the BSAA's creation. But the explanation wasn't important enough to be put to words. The implication was enough.

"And just my luck, I never thought to have a little sister." He gave a low, disappointed whistle.

"That is truly too bad. We make excellent for excellent fan clubs."

[blokeraider]

"And now I'm here. My dreams of fame and fanclubs are over."

[otype]

"You realize you have but one recourse left, right? Get hitched and have yourself a daughter. The hero-worship there is almost as irrationally absolute. At least, right up until they hit the teenage years."

[blokeraider]

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm way too young to start thinking about kids."

[otype]

Claire laughed.

"Too young?" And then she made a show of scrutinizing him. "Oh, I'm not so sure about that."

After all, she owed him.

[blokeraider]

"Now you're just being mean."

[otype]

"Which means we may now be even, Nathan."

[blokeraider]

"Do you always go into libraries looking for people to pick on?"

[otype]

"Only when I'm terribly bored and the coffee shop is too crowded."

[blokeraider]

"Remind me to do my reading next time when everyone's coffee break has ended."

[otype]

"See, I would instead say that I saved you from what's bound to be a very dull read. You can probably do better."

[blokeraider]

"See, that's where you're wrong. This is more engaging than the stuff I usually read."

[otype]

"Well, now I have to ask what it is that you usually read...?"

But she glanced down at her own newly-chosen book: David Copperfield. Upon reflection, her choice might not be much more thrilling than his, but it was better than an FDA report.

[blokeraider]

"I'm a big fan of the Confessions of St. Augustine. Sure, it may sound boring, but it's much better in the original Latin."

He was, to an extent, being sarcastic. But he wasn't being entirely untruthful either.

"...Augustine. I think he might have been the one to single-handedly talk me into dropping my freshman philosophy course, once upon a time."

But in retrospect, years later, she wondered whether she should have paid more attention to the bits about free will. Maybe it would have helped make sense of what had happened in Raccoon City.

He tutted at her. "How could you hate the original Hollywood bad boy? It was the pears, wasn't it?"

"It was a long time ago," she said with a smile. "And I think we've already established that I like my fruits smaller and more bite-sized. Now, if old Augustine and his pals had stolen some grapes instead of pears, maybe I would have paid him closer attention..."

And -- in perfect harmony with her quip -- here she sat across from the man who'd stolen her last grape. "I had other interests, back in college. Other, less academic interests. It kinda cut into my coursework time. But you? That's your whole bag? Reading what a bunch of dead guys had to say about the human condition?"
