[Action - Good Spirits, early evening]

[Every society, no matter where you go, has a way to get drunk.

Ginia muses on the thought with a faint smile as she sits in Good Spirits, sipping at a milkshake with a few shots of Baileys in it. It's been a strange, long day that's ended with being shot and bleeding out on a run and beginning anew in a strange village with wings. Worse was a lingering feeling she knew the village, somehow, in some strange way. It was impossible, she was sure she would have remembered being here. But the feeling was enough to get her back on her feet, into a clothing store for a fresh set of clothes, to the item store to pick up some supplies, and to Good Spirits.

She sits at a table toward the side, alternating between watching people as they come in and reading the guide provided in the journal. It's an interesting thing, the guide, and she takes her time memorizing information.

Later in the evening, she ventures out with some questions on the journal.]

It's an interesting thing, the journals. Written messages, audio messages, being able to address everyone as a whole, talk to individuals, send private messages, never runs out of pages, and looks like any regular sort of book. Tidy bit of technology, or magic I suppose. I like the guide too, very well-written and informative, my thanks to the author.

Anything else a New Feather should know about? The little local sorts of things. Legends, stories, suggested dishes to try at the restaurants, the dos and don'ts, those sorts of things. Give me your best. I have time.

Well, that can make sense depending on when and what you were asking about. And to whom. What sorts of questions?

Some crime lords like their secrets and don't like it when people snoop around or ask too many questions. So they want people to stay silent. I'm thankful they didn't take my fingers too. [While she was teasing about losing her tongue, her words were true. There was no sense in taking the tongue of a person who couldn't talk, so fingers were the most obvious things to target next. That the threat of losing a finger always remained a thread was one thing she was thankful for.]

[Due to the text based nature and his own naivete, unless told otherwise he will think that is the truth.] You should have just reported them to the proper authorities.

After all, that is what the law is there for.

[A small huff escapes her lips and dislike briefly crosses her expression. The law. She knows all about the law and proper authorities and that most laws are written on bloody paper and authorities are sworn in with lies between grit teeth and fake smiles.

She had her own laws and they served her well.

Her smile flickers back onto her face.]

I suppose I should have, but I had other things on my mind at the time.

[While Luce on the other hand, is blinded by the law of his land that he is supposed to execute, honestly believing in it while the higher ups do it for their own gain.]

Not choking on my own blood and dying.

No, why did you go after the vandals without contacting law enforcement first.

[Ginia debates making up an explanation for her real actions that lead to an imaginary fate. It'd be so easy saying because it was once her job going after crime lords, but that would lead to more questions and she's not so inclined to dig too deeply into that part of her life. She walked away from it once and now she was content to leave it buried in her own world.

So instead, Ginia fixes him with an amused smile before she sticks her tongue out at him.]

[He blinks a few more times, looking shocked. Then frowning. Then announcing:] You lied to me!

[She makes a light huffing sound akin to a laugh and nods.]

I did, but it also made for interesting conversation.

But that was a direct violation of the trust I had put into you.

You trust too easily. [It wasn't a criticism, though the difficulty of the written word was a lack of inflection. It was simply a statement of fact.

But Ginia knew he had a point too. Even if they were strangers, there was a sort of unwritten code of conduct in regards to behavior. Some foundation of honesty that paved the way for things. There was no fault in taking someone's words for what they were and believing them to be true. That was how things were supposed to be.

Her pen taps against her notebook before she writes out a reply.]

I'm sorry. That was rude of me.

[Along with the fact he isn't used to people lying to him like that. He narrows his eyes a little.]

Apology accepted if you truly mean it.

I do. [She does. She's aware it's largely her fault too, having learned to keep everyone's at arms length and being careful what and who to trust.]

I'm Ginia.

I am The Judge. [Luce is leaving out the rest of the title, because right now he doesn't see a purpose for it. His name was too personal for him to feel comfortable giving out.]

[Judge. The Judge. That explains the leaning toward going to the law.]

A man of the law.

And of the faith. [To him, the two were so intertwined it had to be included.]

[Law and faith... Ginia can't say she's had much luck with either.]

A devout and lawful man. Respectable.

[And this catches him off guard, he has yet to have that simply said to him about his duty. He was expecting another case of that woman from earlier. He blinks as he moves a little closer.]

I try to be, Miss Ginia.

[She may not be the most religious of people, and her actions have fallen out of the law more than once, but she can be respect those who are. Assuming they aren't using the law or the power of faith for their own purposes. Ginia feels little guilt putting the corrupt away, even if they are priests.]

Please, just Ginia.

[While Luce is too busy being blinded by the corrupt of his faith to see it and act proper.]

Of course then, so have you been here long?

[There's a pause before she answers. She knows with certainty she arrived today, only a couple of hours before. Her mind says she's been here much longer from the odd familiarity she feels. Locations, names, knowing exactly where to go and what to do, nothing a New Feather would know.]

Only a few hours. You?

The same, and I have already encountered mixed results of people.

I guess we can be New Feathers together. [She offers a light smile.] What do you think about the place so far?

Luckily, my assistant had arrived to. I have met one woman who was helpful- and the other who was confrontational and you. So honestly mixed.
