Reserves have just opened and apps are right around the corner. But are you still on the fence about any of your would-be characters? Well -- here is your chance to take them out for a spin!

▣ TAG IN or reply to others with characters you would like to test drive for Luceti.
▣ ONLY add top-level comments for characters who are not yet in the game. You're free to reply to others with Luceti characters (because that's half the fun) but remember that the whole point of this meme is for potential characters.
▣ PLEASE do not post duplicates of characters already in Luceti.
▣ GO AHEAD and give us a brief description of your character in the top-level comment, along with one or two possible ways to run into your test-driven character around town.
▣ YOU MAY use these threads for your first person samples on your app -- just make sure that you link threads of a goodly length (i.e., threads with at least ten comments from your character).

Need a little help getting started? Remember, you needn't post here as though your character is still brand-spankin' new. It'll probably be more fun for all involved if this isn't a simple dress rehearsal for showing up. Here are a few scenario ideas:

o1. The grocery store is out of food. What do you do?
o2. Wing injury! Call for help or stagger your way to one of our fine clinics.
o3. It's a busy evening at Good Spirits, one of Luceti's local bars. Do you dare try the drink specials?
o4. Have a talent for playing music? Try Cloud Nine's open mic night!
o5. Beach party? Snow party? Leaf-raking party? Gardening party? YOU DECIDE.

Okay. So my examples are pretty non-exciting. But they're really just suggestions. I'm POSITIVE you kids can come up with more creative things.

Above all? HAVE FUN. Oh. And don't forget to RESERVE your characters.

She said, certainly eager to learn what his name might actually be.

"Have you checked under the table? That's where you get the best subtle knifework and week old gum."

"Maybe next time. If you'll tell me what I'm looking for..."

[blokeraider]

"It should have my name, followed by was here. There'd be a date, but cycle six doesn't have the right ring to it."

"...Are you always this pedantic with people who only want to know your name and maybe share a few healthy snacks? Or am I the exception?"

She really should simply apologize for interrupting his reading.

[blokeraider]

"Hey, you only had to ask. Which you never actually did. Still haven't, actually."

He could be very pedantic when he wanted to have a little fun at someone's expense.

...Once again, she hed out a hand. This time, however, it was empty.

"Claire. And you are?"

[blokeraider]

He looked back down at his book again and answered: "Reading."

"...Of course you are."

Did she sound disappointed? Certainly. But she remained far from upset. However unspoken, the man had a point. She'd interrupted him, and all because she wanted to chase away the eerie quiet that so often descended upon a library. "Go ahead," she said as her offered but ignored hand gave a little dismissive wave, "keep the last grape, while you're at it. Think of it as...reparation."

Claire stood.

He leaned back in his seat and laughed. He really shouldn't pick on strangers, but life was hard when you didn't have Sully around to make fun of. He rolled the grape on the table towards her.

"I'm joking. I'm Nathan Drake. Sit down."

A pause. For a moment, it almost appeared as though she was going to be offended. But after the time it took to tuck a stray wisp of red hair behind her ear, her smile returned. Whoever she was, she managed social embarrassment with considerable grace.

"I'll get you back for that one, Nathan. Make no mistake." Well. Half-considerable grace.

Still leaning back, he slung one arm behind him to dangle, the other still resting on the table. He was still wearing an insufferable smirk.

"I'd be disappointed if you didn't. Chances are, it would be the most exciting thing to happen to me since my wings stopped aching."

A cluck of her tongue, and she seemed to be looking somewhere past his shoulder. Just for a moment. And then she reclaimed her seat, sitting with her fingers knit in her lap.

"Oh, God. What I wouldn't pay to be rid of mine..." Cue the awkward shuffling as she was once again made away of the wings' existence and therefore had to resettle them against the chair's back.

Ah, she was new. Maybe that explained things a little. He felt halfway guilty for giving her a hard time now. But not enough to actually do anything about it.

"So you're still new. How long?"

"A few weeks." She held up a hand. "Before you say it, yes -- I did all the reading. And no, I won't saw my own feathers off."

Because as warm as the welcoming committee had been, their broken record advice had gotten very old very fast. Although Claire had made no bold attempts to establish her own cool head in a crisis credentials, she was still surprised how often self-proclaimed veterans were still trying to counsel her through this ordeal.

[blokeraider]

"One month for me. Which I figure makes me the expert here. First off, don't tar your wings. That's just bad and will ruin their natural sheen. Secondly, don't feed them after midnight. And of course the most important rule is don't touch other people's wings without permission."

He figured his advice would, at least, be original.

This garnered some laughter.

"See, no one mentioned that last part in the brochure. Are they holding out on me?"

[blokeraider]

"We try to keep that a secret until at least the third week. So don't tell anyone I told you ahead of time."

"Sounds like collegiate-level hazing, if you ask me."

[blokeraider]

"I never claimed to be mature. I just act the part sometimes."

[otype]

"...And this afternoon certainly hasn't been any of those times, I take it?"

This wasn't so bad. Simple conversation that had so very little to do with grand corporate schemes or bare survival. It was a relief.

[blokeraider]

He chuckled. "Go easy on me. It's not every day I get caught reading fantasy novels."

"If you were trying to hide it, Nathan, then you were doing a pretty poor job at keeping stealthy. Try removing the dust jacket, next time."

[blokeraider]

He looked down at the book. "Rookie mistake. Maybe there's something to that so-called power cap after all."

Her head tilted. Another smile. Was he for serious...?

"Wait. Are you trying to sell me on the notion that you are usually so clever that their on-board security feature is what's dumbed you down to this point? That's creative. I plan to use that one in future."
